  1. I have fished Lake Livingston for a number of years but not that often. I have never really been able to figure out the lake and where to fish. The Trinity River feeds in to the northern part of the lake and is very muddy making the lake muddy as well. A couple years back, we did really well on the white bass using red painted little george's. No matter how much I try to use different baits, my dad always puts on the ole roadrunner and catches more fish than anyone. We tried 2 weekends ago. He caught 4 (2 white bass, 1 catfish, and 1 baby largemouth about the size of his palm LOL) using that thing. I caught 2 white bass (one on a spinner bait, and one on a little george). The temperature outside was 56-68 degrees. I tried fishing a fluke for a couple of hours, but took it the fish weren't seeing it because of the muddy water (3" visibility). He got 2 before I even got mine in the water and we thought we were going to slay them (this was all up in the Trinity River). I wouldn't consider 6 fish between 2 people slaying anything haha. I was wondering if anyone has some tips for Lake Livingston, or suggestions on good locations. Most of the banks on the main lake are lined with bulkhead. We are going again this weekend and plan on trying the dam and also over by some of the islands. Note: every time we ask the locals where or how to catch some good fish out there, they always tell us to go trolling, and I really don't consider that fishing or a good time. They are clearly trolling me lol. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. I hope to post some success pictures after the weekend. Thanks! Sam
  2. For all the Central Texas Anglers on here: I am currently looking for a boater to pair up with for the upcoming season starting in January. Whether you would want to fish both or just one of the trails, either way works for me. I'd normally fish with my dad, but his schedule can be hectic and it is not ensured that we would be able to compete in all the events. I will obviously cover my half of all the entry fees and boat fuel expenses. If you or anyone you know is looking for a solid partner to fish with this coming spring, please send me a PM or text me. Thanks, Jason Phillips Jr 210-364-1572
  3. Looking for a partner for the Texas Team Tournament Trail for 2020. I don't have a boat yet, so you would have to have a boat. I am planning on getting a boat the beginning of the year, but, maybe I can win one at one of the tournaments. If you are interested, leave me a reply, and I will get back with you.
  4. Hey Everyone in the BR community, Long time troller first time poster. Me and a few buddies are headed to Texas for the first time the first week of march to catch the Lunker of a lifetime. I've been researching Fork and Rayburn. If you know guides, boat rentals, lodging, I could use your help. And if you ever come up to PA I can point you in the right direction in return. Thanks, Pete
  5. Hey I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience Fishing Ray Hubbard especially durring winter time. I have a tournament there February and was wondering if you guys have any tips or spots to try there. Also any tournamnet tips in general would be great because I just got my boat a few months ago and I'm very new to lake fishing and tournament fishing in general. I've been doing decent but would like to improve starting with this upcoming tournament on Ray Hubbard. Any comments are very much appreciated!
  6. This last year I was able to catch 3 bass over 5 lbs and it was an awesome experience. I like catching numbers but I'm really wanting some more 4+ lb action this year. I'll be fishing in Texas in a small boat on lakes mostly 2,000 acres or smaller, most have standing timber and some vegetation. So what should be my strategy this spring and summer for some quality bass. Currently I'm thinking I will keep a rattletrap, a big worm and a jig tied on pretty much all the time. And when I night fish I will add a black spinner bait to that list. (2 of my fish over 5 lbs last year came on a rattletrap) I'm not wanting to give up smaller fish exclusively but I want to better my odds for some nice fish. What's yalls thoughts? If y'all had the same goal in mind would you pick differently? Should I consider adding anything? I understand it's not all in the bait/lure but I do want to choose my startup wisely.
  7. Hello! I am in Texas all week, been checking it out because I want to move here after my last year of college. I would like to know if there are any communities or towns that have a lot of bass fishermen around? I've been addicted to bass fishing since I was a kid. I come from a small town and fishermen/ hunting guys and gals are who I want to live around and make friends with. Its kind of a weird question but if theres any info info out there let me know! Thanks, Cody
  8. Hey there, I am a member that has been reading this website in the background for a couple of years now. This site has given me lots of tricks that have made a better fisherman. I plan on posting more about my kayak fishing adventures and answering/asking questions about different topics in the world of fishing. Thanks for including me!

  10. Living in Canada is amazing and has a large variety of fish species to offer. However, I'm debating whether i should take a trip to Texas to try to break my personal best. The question is, is it worth spending the time and money to travel to southern Texas. I'm hoping you guys can maybe make a pros and cons list, excluding the price. Thx
  11. Hello All! I have been lurking around this WONDERFUL resource of information and I wanted to introduce myself finally. I have been fishing for about 4 months, mainly on weekends but loving every minute of it. I have been watching and reading every chance I get and I have learned a lot. I have also become a rod/reel addict! so I am wanting to see if you guys could help me associate my rod/reels to their best partner. Now some of these rods/reels were purchased second hand, off craigslist and some new. I was mainly looking at price point starting out and have bought a few pricier items as time has gone. I need help matching rods to reels and possibly weed out the stragglers/duplicates. THANK YOU! 12. I've been fishing with senkos a lot lately and really am loving them and my favorite rig so far is weightless Texas rig. This is about my senkos but applies to any Texas rig. When you skin hook the bait for a seedless set up, pretty much after the first bite the hook rips through and I can't get it back into the now roped bait. I might be doing something wrong but how can I make these baits last longer because a pack of senkos are decently expensive and my favorite color of anything around here is chartreuse and I have to drive an hour to buy chartreuse senkos, Thank ya'll for the help!
  13. So whenever I Texas Rig my senko I use a Gamakatsu EWG worm hook. But recently I have been wacky rigging with o-rings and I was wondering if there is a difference between using a wacky hook such as the owner wacky rig hook or if the EWG hook I am using is fine. As of right now I'm still catching a lot of bass on the EWG hook wacky rigger. It does look a little odd and big but it hasn't been failing me. Is there a specific reason to use the wacky hooks when wacky rigging? Like does using a EWG hook affect the action as compared to a wacky hook. And also is there a difference in using weedless vs non-weedless because I have heard that weedless hooks don't help much anyway.
  14. About what size and year is reasonable for a fiberglass with basic accessories for $2500. Thanks
  15. Does anybody here have any experience with Waterloo rods? I'm looking to buy a new rod and I'm thinking about going the Waterloo route.
  16. im a bank fisherman as i dont own a boat and i know that limits my ability to get to where the fish are, but even in ponds, rivers, and channels that run by the bank, i cant seem to catch fish lately. i want to blame it on the warmer than normal weather affecting their normal patterns, but i need to learn how to catch fish when it gets hard none the less. ive used jigs, rattletraps, spinners, cranks, soft plastics, nothing is working. im also not seeing many fish by the bank, which leads me to believe that theyre in deeper water, but with as warm of a winter as weve had i feel like they would be shallow. most of the water i fish isnt more than 7 feet deep or so. im fishing in north texas around fort worth and granbury. any suggestions?
  17. Hi eveyone! I am back in the Houston area, and am wondering if anyone is having any luck now that the temperature has dropped? I fished a couple ponds and the dinks seem to be the only active fish. any recommendations on baits and spots would be appreciated. Thanks, ZMo
  18. Hello from Texas, Has anyone else notice how hard and long you have to work this summer just to bring in a halfway decent largemouth? Is this just a North Texas thing or what? Yes, it's hot, REAL hot hear in Texas. And yes, we did have some flooding about 2 months ago. In fact most lakes are still above normal levels. My lake, which is lake Joe Pool, is still closed to the public. That being the case I've focused my efforts on some local ponds which have never disappointed me in the past. These ponds are rarely ever fished and have always been what I would call "Honey Holes". Well, I don't know what happed or what changed but the Honey is gone. The 3,4,&5 pound beautiful healthy looking bass have all but vanished From all three ponds I fish. Ill snag some tiny ones and the occasional 2 pounder but its rare. I know the fish are in there. What's the deal? It's like a switch was flipped off. Any ideas or thoughts on what causes bass in different ponds to just stop??
  19. Hi I am an angler that fishes Texas. In the recent month we have recieved record rain that flooded our lakes. The lakes have gone from unfishable because they were to shallow to now you can only launch boats in a few number of lakes due to saftey reasons. This great rain has made me wonder how does it affect the bass. I was wondering what they would be doing? Where would they go? How long would it take for them to go back to normal?
  20. I have just gotten a place on lake fork and was wondering if someone could help me figure it out. Any tips will help.
  21. Hey guys, I'm looking to tag along as a non-boater for the Oakley tournament on Lake Conroe beginning of March. My boat is currently in PA and havent had a chance to bring it back down here. Ive lived on lake Conroe for the past year. Although it is an individual tournament, you are allowed 2 people per boat and I would be willing to split any winnings I receive. $36,000 in hourly winnings and largest bass wins New Nitro Bass boat. Thanks guys!! Hopefully this message is acceptable to post here. If not, Mods feel free to move it!
  22. Hello everyone, I have been on before and just read forums, along as watched every video on bassresource's YouTube channel, and have decided that I joined this awesome community with so much angling information. My name is Will Kirkgard, born and raised in Austin, Texas, 21 years old, and I am currently a junior at the University of Texas at Austin and I am perusing a bachelors in petroleum engineering with a minor in geographical information systems. Fishing has always been apart of my life, but only recently has it become pretty serious. I grew up blessed to have a grandfather with a lake house on Lake Conroe outside of the Houston area, and that is a great little lake where I grew up fishing and learning my fishing basics. When I came to college, my group of guy friends that I became apart of were big into fishing; a couple of us have boats and most have kayaks so when we have a break from studying, we always hit the local lakes here in Austin. I am still on a college budget so I don't exactly have the greatest of equipment compared to others, but I make-due with the equipment I have (two bait casting, two spinning) and the lures I can buy every now and then. I have recently joined the Bass Team here at UT and am looking forward to compete with other colleges in a competitive environment around the state/country. Anyway, I still have so much to learn and I am extremely excited to learn from those of you who love to share fishing knowledge. This place is awesome and I can't wait to get to know some of you. Thanks and Hook 'Em, Will Kirkgard University of Texas at Austin | B.S. Petroleum Engineering will.kirkgard@utexas.edu
  23. Caught my personal best this weekend fishing from a dock on a small pond at our deer lease in Centerville, Tx. We didn't have a scale but compared it to pics and videos online and we estimate 7-8 pounds. Caught on a 1/2 oz. Booyah spinnerbait during light rain in about 3 ft of clear water.
  24. Caught this on Nov 22, 2014 standing on a dock on a small pond in Centerville Texas. Used a chartreuse and white 1/2 oz. Booyah spinnerbait with a colorado blade. 3 ft. of clear water during a drizzle.
  25. Caught on a 3/16 oz. Booyah Pond Magic spinnerbait just as it was getting dark. Probably 2 lbs. This pond is off Highland Park Dr. in Denton on the UNT campus.
