  1. When using water temperature to determine current seasonal behavior, is that surface water temp or temp down where the fish are? If the temp I need to know is down where they are, how do we get that? thank you for all the help!
  2. Is there an average time of year? I'm having a really tough time catching anything on the river this past week.
  3. I live within 2 miles from a 2-2.5 acre stormwater pond. It's conveniently a block away from my primary gas station; so I make my pit stops a handful times per week. I've caught numerous poundies last year and the max depth is only 6-8 feet at most and really in only two pockets, the north end and southeast corner. When it runs shallow in the heat of summer, these are the only spots where you can't see the bottom. So my question is, is topwater game all day when it gets shallow? Better yet, can I run topwater year round (even as soon as ice out)? My choice in topwaters are zara pups/spook jrs, torpedoes, and buzz baits (nothing more than 3/8 oz) at a distant third. I frog once in a while, but I still have to work on my timing. Tight lines, Rio
  4. Good evening, My 2002 Mercury XR6 is sounding the overheating alarm (continuous beep) immediately after turning the key (regardless as to whether or not I crank it over). I feel this has to be a false alarm as the engine is literally at the temperature of the great outdoors (makes the sound before even being run). Tried running it for 10 minutes to see if it would quit to no avail. Any Ideas? Where on the outboard is the temperature sensor that controls this alarm? Perhaps this is just faulty? Thank you a bunch for any help in advance!
  5. Maybe someone here can help me.. I've tried to google but couldn't find the answer.. Ok so I went to take my wife fishing at a lake at a park and we seen that they rent jon boats and other types of boats for the lake. I asked about renting a jon boat with a trolling motor and I was told at the last time they checked the wind/water temperature that it was 81 and that the wind/water temperature had to = 100 for them to be able to let people rent boats.. Could anyone please explain to me how the wind/water temp works and why It stops us from renting a boat ?
  6. Hey guys, I was wondering what you consider a cold front in the spring. For example, would a small system of rain that changes the temperature from 75 to 66 be considered a cold front? all help will be greatly appreciated.
