    I have never had much success with paddletail swimbaits, but seeing (lately) how these pond bass are smashing baitfish up close against the bank, I’m thinking it’s likely something I’ve overlooked and underfished in the past. I caught a bass yesterday on a Keitech 2.8” with a 3/0 EWG and a 1/8 oz. bullet weight Texas rigged. What are some good, or better, options for casting right near the bank? I say casting, and not pitching/flipping, as I cannot stand in my boat (they say you can, but I tried twice and both times I almost went into the drink lol). So casting is really the only option. And I had that rigged on a MHF baitcaster. I have baitcasters from MF, MHMF, MHF to HF, and spinning rigs from MLF, MF and MXF. If you have a preference, let me know, and why.

    All of our tackle has improved greatly over the years. A few things I bought years ago have proven to be very good, and are still going strong. 1. Any Japanese made Shimano casting or spinning reels that I bought between 1980, and 1990. Heavier, fewer bearings, etc, but are still smooth and working well. 2. ABU Royal Bonyll monofilament line. I wish they still made this line. Dark brown color, very durable, and handled well on cast and spinning reels. 3. Original Berkeley Lightning Rod. I still have one in retirement now. Fished it hard years ago. Never had one break or any problems with this stick. Great value for the dollar. 4. Original Johnson Beetle Spin. The older ones had a different head shape, and had a longer body. Still have a couple unopened from years ago. With rods/reels Ive bought newer ones because I like the lighter weight. The other items are no longer made, at least not like they were years ago. Are there any things you bought years ago that you wish were still available today? BTW. I still keep my eyes open for any of the Japanese made reels from this time frame. Anything that last that long and still works, is an outstanding value.

    In my mid 20s, I belonged to a bass club. I remember being a little bit dismayed, and dissapointed when I saw that the best fisherman in this 25 member club carried a small two tray tacklebox. At that time, I thought ALL serious bass fisherman carried a giant tacklebox, filled with every bait possible. It took me a few years to realize that a huge box full of baits doesn't always mean a successful bass fisherman. Now, I carry less tackle than I ever did, and, my catch rates are as good, or better than they've ever been. Have any others here come to realize this too?

    This will be the first year I really havnt bought much new tackle. I've spent some time going through my older stuff, and realized I've got a lot of things I've bought over the years, and for various reasons got away from. So, I'm using up some things I've had stored for years. I'll be throwing Culprit, Mr. Twister, and Mann's jelly worms, as well as the standard Zoom and roboworms, as well as some Zoom fat Albert grubs. Thanks to some recent threads about spinnerbaits, I'm going with some Beetle Spins, and standard single and double blade spinners. Same old topwaters too. I had set back a little money for a new Calcutta reel, but I'll hold off till next year. All my reels are working good, so it's not a must have item. I have bought and spoiled new line of course. A young co worker said I was putting myself at a disadvantage by not trying some of the newer lures out there. Disadvantage? These baits caught me a ton of fish years ago, and will catch em now just the same. I've simply accumulated so much tackle I need to use some of it up. What's left I'll use to stock up my grandsons box. I'm pumped about rediscovering the Zoom plastic lizard too. Used to catch the heck out of em with that bait years ago too. As has been said many times on this site: fish don't change, fisherman do. Were always looking for the hot new thing, when we probably already have the best! Ponds are thawing out now, warming weather is coming in. I can't wait to get out there!

    So in July I bought a Daiwa fishing sling backpack online from this store (www.crossoutdoorgear.com). I ordered it for a Colorado fishing trip for August. Well, its September now and I messaged the company several times throughout to see if they were ever gonna send the backpack. No replies for weeks now. Luckily, I was able to use the PayPal checkout on their website, and so today I disputed the charges. But the funny thing is I looked up their address and noticed it was fake! There is no business called crossoutdoorgear for that address! I even looked up their BBB profile and what do you know, the BBB can't contact them either. And unfortunately, I am not the only victim of this. When I buy things online I usually do some sort of research on the brand, especially if its a brand that I have never heard of. And a lot of my finesse fishing gear are from Japan. So I looked up their website on Facebook and Instagram. And from the looks of things they seemed pretty legit. Thousands of likes and followers on both platforms. But now looking back at some of their post likes, and older posts I now see that the number of likes versus their follower ratios does not add up. I also noticed the complaints on BBB and some other forums say that when you order from this company, you won't hear from them for the first month or so but if you raise enough hell they will send you something. It might not be the Item you wanted but they send something just to say they sent it. My guess is that this guy does not have very many customers to begin with, hence the very low number of complaints for this website. This is not the first time I've seen a scam but this guy blatantly frauds people and seems to get away with it. So I'm gonna do my best to help out the community and spread this so you guys don't get scammed. This guy sells fishing gear so watch out!! I reported to the FTC and BBB I hope whoever owns that website sees this post. Anyone else been through this?

    It seems that every year I'd find some new lure that I wanted to try, whether it be a new lure or old lure that has been out for a long time that I just discovered I always usually bought a lure or two that I'd never had or tried before. Last year I bought quite a few things, Teckel Sprinker frogs, chatterbaits, new spinnerbait brands, Whopper Ploppers, and quite a few hollow body frogs to experiment on to make my own Teckel Sprinker frogs. This year I really only bought the new Booyah Toad Runner and a Ninja Grass Blade for my Minn Kota Ulterra. I didn't buy any new rods or reels this year or any other fishing tackle or gear. I think I've finally achieved fishing tackle and gear fulfillment. I don't want to purchase anything more and I definitely don't need anything else as I have new lures in the box still. For Topwater: 1.) Whopper Ploppers 2.) Homemade Sprinker Teckel Frog (weedless Whopper Plopper/paddle tail frogs) For Underwater: 1.) Wacky Rigged Senko 2.) Nose-hooked Zoom Super Fluke I also use spinnerbaits quite often which and want to try some of the chatterbaits I have. What I have now has consistently worked pretty well in the lakes I fish. I do need to get better at fishing deeper though but I have lures for that too. But I really don't feel the desire to buy anything else....which is weird for me. lol. Maybe I finally beat the dreaded Bait Monkey! Anyone else reached Fishing Tackle and Gear Fulfillment?

    I've been trying to avoid reviving beaten topics but I can't seem to make a decision between the 852s NRX & GLX. Granted the $80 dollar difference isn't horribly great but knowing if there's a great difference in rods is the question we all ask (Non-owners of either rod). However, just curious on your opinions (owners of the rods) is there truly that great of a difference at only an $80 jump? Lastly, I can pick up the GLX now, on sale for 250, or do I pass and get the NRX? ***Both rods are most recent versions.

    Hey so latelay I’ve been having trouble catching bass just after ice out. Some fellow members have recommended to me to try and target panfish and I might also catch some bass along the way. At this point I’ll be happy to catch anything but I’ve never rigged for panfish. Someone suggested ball head jigs and a grub trailer. My question for you guys is, what setups do you use for panfish?? How do you rig a float with a jig?? What size/kind of jigs do you use? Do you have to balance a float with a jig or does it not matter?? Do you need a float? I’ve NEVER fished specifically for panfish, so please, talk to me like I’m dumb so I get all the details lol. Thanks!

    Hey guys new member here with a question. Does anybody know of a good kit or anything that would allow me to customize my own spinnerbaits? I’ve been wanting to get more into customizing my own baits and I’m wanting to start with my spinnerbaits. I’d really like to customize my own skirts and stuff. I don’t want to manufacture my own stuff but I would like to mix and match my own colors but haven’t really been able to find anything on Google unless I’ve skipped over it. If anybody has any input it would be greatly appreciated!

    I am going to use every class of lure I own and give away anything I don't fish this year. A few examples would include Jitterbugs, Spooks, Original Rapala and Devil's Horse. I also have a collection of smaller, light topwater and crankbaits that were bought new 5 or 10 years ago that may need a new home. Seemed like "a good idear" at the time.

What should I buy? Senkos and worms i have so Im only talking trailers, craws, beavers, no swim baits etc. Please comment baits you think are crucial to have.

    Need a little help from the group. I just bought a house that's blocks from the Glades and a major canal that runs from the Glades easterly towards the shore smack between Coral Springs and Tamarac. Mostly bank fishing or a little pier open for public use. However I'm inexperienced especially in fresh/brackish waters and I'm curious as to what kinds of fish I can expect to find, baits or lures to use? Line to use? Sinkers or floaters? Any specific knot? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm dyeing to learn what'll become my new fishimg spots

    Can anybody give me further insight into what a a reconditioned rod from fishermans factory outlet would contain. Like, would there maybe be a guide that broke and is now a different color or anything noticeably wrong or changed with the rod?

    My fiancée snagged this underwater and I was eventually able to work it in after snagging the whole mess (her terminal tackle plus this lure and the 20ft+ of line attached to it that was caught on a partially submerged tree) with heavier gear. Much cleaning later and I have this. It floats when idle, rattles, and the main body is approximately 2 1/2 inches(6cm). It has a fairly detailed scale texture on the sides, but not the spine or belly. Thank you all in advance for your input.

    So I'm looking into this rod and I want to be able to throw big lures such as the whopper plopper 130 and the river2sea S-waver, but I also want to be able to throw some weightless senkos good. Currently looking at the Daiwa Tatula Elite Signature Series Bass Crankbait Casting Rod; would that be a good choice??? Looking for advice and help from anyone

    For lack of better words, can someone please explain Line Capacity/Test as if you were teaching a child! I've read many posts on the subject but there's so much fisherman jargon and technical terms that I'm a tad confused. I'm new to fishing in regards to finally purchasing my own tackle, rather then just showing up to the lake/ocean and fishing with a buddy's gear. As an example, I got an amazing deal on a few highend rods and one of the reels I purchased new and nearly free, was a Chronarch 200e7. The specs on the box read: Nylon Mono / lb. (yds.) -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) PowerPro Braided -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Nylon Mono -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) Fil Tresse PowerPro -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Lol, I'm so confused! Help, please! I'm looking to purchase a Mono, Braided, and Fluorocarbon Line but I don't know what I'm suppose to purchase for this particular reel or the others for that matter.
