  1. I recently had some skirts go bad on my spinners and happen to have an abundance of embroidery thread in every color, could I tie this onto the jig head and make it like a skirt?
  2. Does anybody know the name of the old copper skirt color used on the rattlin booza bug?
  3. I want to start hand tying jigs, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits but I am not sure what lb braid to use to do so. Most of the jigs are about 1/4 oz - 3/4 oz, buzzbaits and spinnerbaits around 1/4 oz - 1/2 oz, but the most common weight for all being 3/8 oz.
  4. well guys i have been pouring my own jigs for a good bit now but i was only interested in ball jigs with a screw lock for specks with no weed guard, but as ive completely fell in love with bass fishing, i have thought more and more about making my own bass jigs to sell and kinda create something i can have a part of. i have ordered a few new jig molds, but i had a few questions about the modifying molds, as well as the whole skirt thing in general ills tart with the skirts, is there a general idea with who to go to to buy skirts from? im going to be making saltwater based bass jigs for specks and reds as well, and im gonna need some pretty different colors, and im just kinda shooting around google when looking, maybe you guys can point me to the best source for them so i dont search a hundred sites for something i might not even be happywith. and as for jig modifying, i really like the way the sixth sense heads get through cover with the swimjig, and i was thinking maybe i could modify the poison tale jig mold to sort of come close to the same performance as the design on those, im pretty good with tools and things like that, so is it worth it to modify a jig, or should i just get a custom one or be happy with the do it molds? sorry about the quality of the post, my computer lags all of my text so it makes it hard to actually get a good post done haha. thanks in advance guys edit:if you have somewhere you can point me for good advice other than good youtube videos and things i would love to know, even personal advice and other forums are cool, ive been researching this for a good while now and im always interested in knowing more.
  5. i tried searching this already but the search feature was a little screwy.. ive been making jigs lately pouring them. painting them. then tying with rwire. but my issue is when im using multiple colors. like trying to make a shad pattern swim jig or bluegill.. i cant get the skirts to stay in the right spot. im not using a vice either. any ideas on how to hold the skirt color in the right spot while i tighten the wire enough to hold it??
  6. I fish jigs a lot, but just started fishing jigs last year. I also like making my own skirts. I was thinking about just making all of my jigs into a half black, half green pumpkin skirt color, and then just changing the color of the trailer, since it's the most prominent part of the jig, and it sticks up right into the bass's face. Is it really necessary to have so many colors? I think people like different colors more than bass. Same jig, but different trailers: Black, or black and blue for muddy or stained water Green pumpkin or brown for clear/clear-ish I live in Nebraska, so our crawfish are black and green. I have seen blue and orange crawfish in October here too.
  7. Here's a good deal I found on some skirts. mine came in today, I believe he has other colors as well as skirt tabs if you'd prefer to make your own skirts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390779936578?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  8. Where do you guys get your skirts from? Im wanting to buy the EZ style jig skirts. Any suggestions?
