  1. Does anyone know of any good shore fishing spots in the Virginia beach area for chain pickerel especially big ones
  2. (1) Greetings BR members! I've been looking to get after some smallies this summer on the Upper Potomac. I've had success at Riverbend Park and Goose Creek in years past, but I'm looking for spots that I can reach easier by bike from Arlington. The Ohio C&O Canal Towpath would be my route of choice to get upriver, so spots on the Maryland side are preferred (not asking for your honey holes, just general locations ideal for shore/wade fishing). I'm sort of a newbie to bass casting for SM in a river, so I may need some technical guidance and info on specific areas / structure to target. Beyond weedless tubes, it would also be helpful to get some insight as to what bait/profile/size is best for this river. (2) If anyone would like to fish with me, I've been looking for a fishing buddy! Unfortunately, I don't have a boat or consistent access to a car, but I can ride my bike a good long way to reach the fishing grounds. I can also comp for gas or other expenses. PM if interested. All advice and responses are welcome. Tight Lines!
  3. Hi, my name is Greg and I am a novice Bass Fisherman. Just wondering if anyone had some tips for Largemouth fishing small ponds and lakes in the South Chicago area. What are some of your go to lures when fishing a smaller body of water? Is it better to fish slow with soft plastics or to burn spinnerbaits and other lures. Chicago weather is crazy and unpredictable. I feel like it can be a little tricky fishing in this part of the United States.
  4. Hello everyone, I do not have a boat so naturally I will be bank fishing. Any tips? What baits to use? What should i start with? What size Line should I use on my line? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
  5. Hi everyone, I've got a question for those of you that bank fish or have experience bank fishing in places with high wall along the shoreline. I lost a fish the other day due to not being able to winch him up the side of a 8 foot high wall at a local lake and I am looking for ways to retrieve a fish should this scenario repeat itself. My question is, how would you land a fish and safely release it without having close access to the shoreline. Parts of the lake have boat tie ups and a beach area, but the area I was in does not have any of this within 200 yards. Attached is a picture of the type of wall I am dealing with, not in the same area as I was fishing, since it has quite an obvious place to land a fish. Thanks, Andrew P.S: This is not my photo and I make no claims to it. It is just being used for demonstration purposes.
  6. Hey guys, I just have a quick question. If you are fishing timber from shore, what size line do you use? I don't have a boat, but there are a lot of little ponds around here. I have some green Gamma 4lbs test line that I have been using for the last couple weeks and it has been doing just fine. However, this morning I was fishing around some trees and much to my surprise, on my third cast of the day, I hooked a 2 1/2 to 3 lbs largemouth that came splashing to the surface with my little worm. Of course he took it through the timber and the line broke. I guess I learned something from that though. You can't underestimate ponds/small lakes. Any advice in this situation? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hey everyone. I have been fishing most of my life, but I just started Bass fishing this last summer, and I am getting kind of addicted I think. I am just trying to find some advice from anyone that is familiar with the Northern Colorado area. I live just south of the Wyoming border a little ways off of 287. I've watched nearly every video on this site and read dozens of the articles. I think I am getting the basics down, though I'm no professional. I don't have a boat, and not a lot of money to put into tackle. Any advice/pointers or tips on where to go (and what to use) around these parts would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and can't wait to learn a ton. As the title says, I fish from shore. This means I don't have a boat or a fish finder. So what I want to know is what the best way is to identify underwater structure or cover from the shore. I have tried to "feel" whats underwater with my lure but I can hardly tell how deep it is, nonetheless what is on the bottom (I use a fiberglass rod and mono line). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Brian
  9. I love to fish Green Lakes State Park in Central New York. The lake there has about 15 ft visibility (CRAZY, RIGHT?) and is home to VERY finicky, yet large bass. There seem to be two types of bass here; ones that cruise the shoreline looking for a meal, and those settled on lay downs along the shore. The settled bass seem to be much more active, but harder to find. I fish exclusively from shore, as no boats are allowed. Any suggestions for lures or techniques?
  10. Trust me when I tell you've I searched every possible resource I have. To try to find places near the Houston Texas area to fish from shore. Now don't get me wrong they're are a few places. And the majority of those are a hassle to do inaccessible shore line or gators. The others are family parks that have small fish for kids to enjoy. Does anybody know of any good spots near the houston area, where a shore fisherman can get his fix. All suggestions will be considered, and appreciated.
