Shakespeare Ugly Stik 6'6" Ultra Light 2 Piece Rod
Okuma Ceymar C30 Spinning Reel
What are your thoughts on the above combo? What type of fish would you be fishing for with a 6'6" ultra light rod sporting a Ceymar C30?
I was thinking about using the setup for micro-fishing, with Frog Hair 7x Tippet and some size 24 hooks. Unless the rod and reel would be best suited for another type of fishing (along with different line/hooks)...
Thoughts?
I hope ya'll don't mind a fishing novice asking questions. I used to fish with my dad constantly but i haven't touched a true rod or reel since i was a teenager. Now my dad is aging and more to the point too sick to work on his reels. I tried looking for help from the companies but i really want to learn how to fix some issues on my own. SO - my questions are: best place to start learning reel mechanics? should i send reels to manufacturer to get repaired (*is it worth it*), and how do find better ways to help my dad store his awesome fishing rods? I appreciate any help at all and please forgive a less than amateur hanging here in the forums.
Recently looking over all my tackle and i think i could really use another pole. Ive settled on buying one of the newer uglystick gx2 rod. Looking to upgrade to a good reel instead of the made in china junk ones you get with a shakespeare rod and reel combo. Should i go with a more well known brand like shimano, daiwa, abugarcia etc. or will cabelas or bass pro brand reels work well. I would rather have a good reel for and extra 10 or 20 bucks than junk. Thanks
