  1. Hello i am new to the whole boat thing and i want to know what would be best for me. I want to be able to bring 1, maybe 2 people with me max. i Would like it light enough to put in the bed of a truck and being able to put a trolling motor on it would be good too. I am not set on a jon boat it can be a canoe or anything that you guys will think that will fit my needs. I am also not looking to spend 2000 bucks either. Thanks and tight lines!! Joey B <ºj))))><
  2. Hey guys, I’ve been quiet since my introduction, but I’ve been reading more then I write. For a those of you who didn’t see it, I am a Rookie angler who is getting into the competitive scene here over in South Africa. Fishing for around 18 months now, and enjoy learning every chance I get. Anyway onto my question. I follow this forum, and two local forums and google plenty of articles on *** and bassresource as well as watching the FLW and BassMasterElite series on youtube ( As we don’t get them here ) also plenty of other stuff on youtube. What else can I do? Where else is there to look and to learn. My best biggest curve is to turn diving crankbaits into a confidence bait, not something I am managing to do too easily at the moment. Also my main question on this thread is what are the best bass magazines to subscribe to in the states? I was hoping to see if I could get 2/3 subscriptions going ( cost dependant ) as a way to learn, but I haven’t a clue what magazines are the best/ most informative. Anyways thanks for the time! Tight lines! Ross
  3. Hi all. I'm a "newbie" to both this forum AND bass fishing. I didn't do a lot of fishing growing up but got hooked last year when my brother inlaw got a little boat and we found a nice little lake full of bass. We pretty much stuck to weightless texas rigged senkos all year and didn't find a reason to change....had a blast! Here's my question: I'm up in Minnesota so our bass don't get as big as down south, but I'm looking to upgrade a little so I'm not using the same rod/reel as when I was 15. I want to stick with a spinning reel but does anyone have any suggestions for a weekend warrior? rod, reel, type line and lb test..... thanks!! Jim
  4. I am a new tournament director for a relatively new series that focuses on anglers around Lake Erie. The founders started the new series with a couple things in mind. 1. Getting anglers to work together on the same boat rather than compete against each other like in Federation tournaments 2. Opening up an untapped market in a fishery that is mostly focused on smallmouth bass. 3. Maintaining a high level of competition while keeping a friendly atmosphere for rookies and people new to the sport. With everything being so new to me, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about where to start? I have a lot of options, but with a full-time job, a wife, and two kids, I would like to hear what has worked for other tournament directors in the past? Sponsors seem hard to come by and I had no idea that so many small tournaments (like ours) are fighting for the bass anglers in my area. I already have my permits and the events are scheduled for this summer/fall (2013). I have some connections in the area that I am using for a new website and the visitors bureau is issuing a press release to the region. Any advice is helpful. Thanks!
