Amateur fisher here. Just starting out and very excited about getting out there! I currently live in Richmond, Virginia, specifically the Short pump area. I do not own a boat so I am assuming my fishing will be limited to shoreline for the time being. I love being out on the water and WILL own a boat in the future, but it's not quite in the cards right now.
Anyway, got family coming into town this weekend and we want to get out there and start fishing. I have read a lot about all the lakes at Innsbrook and looked at the VA DGIF website for the list of lakes and parks. All good information there but wanted to get some opinions from people that have actually fished these spots. Any information like the best times to go (i.e., really early in the am, mid morning, etc..), best spots around the lakes, suggestions for different places, suggestions for equipment on small lakes/ponds etc.
