Hi There, I decided I wanted to try to put a trolling motor on my kayak and control speed and direction with a PWM. I'm running into a bit of a problem and for the life of me, i can't figure out what the issue is. I'm hoping someone on here may have seen a similar issue before and can help point me in the right direction. I have the battery, trolling motor and PWM all hooked up. I've created a wiring harness to extend the PWM controls to a smaller "remote" box away from the PWM so that I can limit the length of wire between the battery and the trolling motor so I can use 10 AWG with limited voltage drop. I'm using a Newport Vessels 55lb thrust kayak trolling motor with a VMAX 85 AH deep cycle marine battery. The PWM controls consist of a 3 way (forward, neutral, reverse), polarity reversing switch and a potentiometer knob to control speed. When I flip the switch to forward and increase the speed knob, the trolling motor kicks on and works as intended. I flip the switch into reverse mode, and nothing happens. If I manually reverse the power and ground wire of the motor at the PWM and test again, I get reverse working as it should, and no forward. It seems the like 3 way polarity reversing switch isn't working. Here's what I've tried / tested so far: 1. I've done continuity testing across the 3 wires in the switch and they all have good connection from one end to the other (all the way to the back of the pins on the PWM board and to the solder joints on the switch) 2. I've tested multiple switches 3. I've tested multiple PWM units / controllers 4. I've bypassed the speed / direction controls in the trolling motor head and wired directly to the motor itself 5. I've manually reversed the trolling motor power / ground wire at the PWM to make sure the trolling motor would run in forward and reverse directions at this point, the only thing I can think is that maybe BOTH of the 3 way switches are bad ? I have more switches coming from amazon today to test that theory, but if anyone has any other ideas I can try, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

My Lews BB2 Speed Spool and my Daiwa Squeaks when i reel line in when fishing. Idk what the problem is, is it the bearings? Been like this for a month and cant find the problem. Thanks

Any of you have dogs that try to bite the fish (Mostly bass) that you catch? I have a private pond and outdoor dogs and whenever I catch a fish from shore, the dog (black lab) runs through his invisible fence and thrives to bate the bass. It makes it super hard to release the fish because he is jumping near or on the fisherman and is quite scary to younger kids. When I throw the fish back in, the dog jumps in the water and swims around, scaring the rest of the fish. Do you have dogs that do this? if so have you found a good way to make the dog stop?

So I've been using 40pb powerpro on my baitcaster and sometimes mid cast it will stop suddenly and there will be a line in the spool over my line that caused it to stop during the cast it's really frustrating so if anyone could help I would appreciate it.

Friend has a 2014 Evinrude Etec 115 horse on his boat. At wot it goes about 38 mph according to the speedometer and fish locaters GPS. At wot of 38 mph after a few mins it usually throttles down on it’s own to about 36mph for no reason. If you throttle back and then throttle up to wot again it goes back up to 38mph. If you don’t it will just keep going at the slower speed. Whats going on here?

Good evening! I have a strange issue with my Daiwa Steez SV LTD 105 XHL. I can cast 4 gram (1/7) hard plastic without a backlash with the magnetic break in the zero. I am not all that good, I know that. I cannot find the issue. Everything seems to be working properly. However the mag break seems to be acting way too strong. And the bearings are brand new Hedgehog Studio Air BFS... Can you guys help me with this?

I recently got my first boat! A 14 ft aluminum Jon boat with a v- hull! When I try to mount the trolling motor on the front, I have to put it a little off to the right side of the front of the boat. When I do that the steering seems to go all out of whack. But it works perfectly fine when I put it on the back of the boat. Any reasoning for this? Any troubleshooting. I feel like it's because the water is being pushed right into the side of the boat or something, does the motor just need to be straight on? Or further below the boat?

One of my older shimano spinning reels wobbles when I and reeling it in. What could be causing this?

I have two Optima deep cycle marine batteries and a starting battery for my motor in my boat I recently purchased used. I've noticed the life of the Optima batteries hooked up to my trolling motor and fish finder may be on the tail end of their life. They last me all day when coming off of a fresh charge, but they do not appear to hold a charge. I'm not sure what is acceptable in terms of loss of charge over time in storage, but my batteries are usually completely dead one week sitting after being fully charged. I have an onboard battery charger for all the batteries, but due to storage needs I can't have it plugged in at all times. Last week I left the boat charger plugged in after I parked it. I returned one week later and noticed that the on board charger had a green light for fully charged, as it should be since I left it plugged in. Well I take the boat out and the all items running off the deep cycle batteries are dead..the trolling motor turns the prop maybe 1/32 of a turn and stops. The fish finder beeps when turned on but does not have enough juice to show anything on the screen. The motor battery is ok but of course that's a different type of battery. I know the batteries aren't great, but when left plugged in, they shouldn't be completely dead...So: 1. is it possible that the charger is able to conduct an immediate charge but fails to kick into maintenance mode as it should be doing? The light on the charger indicates the batteries are 100% after a week of sitting, but if I unplug it and plug it back in, it shows red again for charging/not fully charged. 2. Also, how long should I expect my deep cycle charge to last when sitting in storage unmaintained by charger?
