  1. Does anyone know of any good shore fishing spots in the Virginia beach area for chain pickerel especially big ones
  2. Hello Everyone, I've been fishing for about 10 years now pretty seriously, and I'm ready to make a solid investment into a jerk bait dedicated rod/reel/line set-up - I'm looking for advice in what would make a great set-up. Here are some important details for those who would be willing to give advice: My Height: 5'10" Primary fishing waters: Freshwater - Lakes of varying size (Pennsylvania) 90% from shore or wading/10% from boats, docks, or piers - most waters are stained or occasionally clear Primary Lures: Rapalas ~ Original Floaters, Husky Jerks, X-Raps, Countdowns, and several other styles; several soft jerk baits. Fish species targeted: LM Bass, SM Bass, Striped Bass, Pickerel, Muskie, Walleye, and Perch What I'm looking for in the setup: MUST BE A SPINNING ROD & REEL COMBO - I'm looking for a combo that can provide both vigorous and subtle action, have the ability to have a deep cast, is not heavy will allow me to work all day without causing stress to tendons - and not tire me out (I work both from the side twitching and classic up and down), can handle the load of a 10+ aggressive fish. Additionally, I'm not brand loyal. I am expecting to invest some $$$ in the set-up. Please help.
  3. Hey all, I was wondering I anybody could recommend gear to stock a Plano six-tray tackle box. Man, those things are huge! I already have some stuff in there, like: Catfish hooks and bottom rigs and floats 4 and 10 inch Powerbait Worms, Creme pre-rigged worms, Zoom lizards, Zoom Craws, and Powerbait Rib Snakes Livetarget and SPRO Frogs Livetarget mice Storm Arashi squarebills, Livetarget squarebills, Bass Pro Shops squarebills, Chatterbaits, bitsy bugs, A.T. Tackle jigs, 4x4 T-Roy swim jigs, Heddon torpedos, Rebel Pop-rs, Spooks, Lucky Craft Sammys, Livetarget poppers Bass Pro Shops panfish baits and beetle spins Worm hooks and weights and other carolina rig gear Storm swimbaits Spare trebles.split rings Fish grip, pliers, knife, hemos Booyah Pond Magic spinnerbaits, Cavitron buzzbaits Panfish flies Spare line for my panfish rod, medium rod, and froggin' rod So, I was wondering if you guys could suggest some other baits and terminal and stuff to throw in there. I have the opportunity to fish for bass, panfish, catfish, and pickerel every day. I also get the chance to fish for snakehead, trout, stripers, and the occasional smallie/walleye whenever I go up to Maryland. Please don't just say to stock it with only one bait. Thanks!
  4. MD has a new state record and potential world record Tautog, interesting but the best part of the article (for me at least) a new state record chain pickerel was pulled from one of the ponds by my house, article has it at 8lbs beating out the 1976 record of 7lbs 6oz. Just goes to show that record fish could easily be in one of your home waters you fish. I could only imagine the fight that thing put up. http://news.maryland.gov/dnr/2015/01/07/anglers-open-the-new-year-with-two-state-fishing-records/
  5. My buddy and I went out and fished two days last week on a little creek that runs near the Delaware/Maryland line. Caught probably 25-30 fish over the two days, mainly dinks, but there are big fish to be had. Largest thing we caught was a decent sized Chain Pickerel. Fishing was best in the morning, and the bites turned difficult very quickly when the sun came up and the temperature jumped over 90 before noon. Threw an assortment of baits, caught mainly on Green Pumpkin/Amber, Black/Blue fleck, and Blood Worm colored Senkos. Got my first chance to try out my Live Target Bait Ball, and Poppin' Frog. No luck on the frog, but the bait ball caught 3 small perch...the bait was fatter than they were, but hey, it caught fish on its maiden voyage haha. Typical Delaware fishing, nothing excitingly large, but plenty of dinks. Picture of my buddy with his big catch of the day (only had one cell phone on us, and I was too lazy to unlock my phone to have him take pictures of my fish. I'll be sure to post some of mine next time):
  6. Hey i just started fishing for pickerel so i need advice. What are the best baits for them?
