  1. I'm headed to East Fork Sunday morning. I've only fished it from a boat one time 2 weeks ago and did okay on Shakey heads and jigs. I don't know a lot about the lake or fishing from a boat and was hoping I could get some tips on patterns and where to fish right now. Thanks in advance
  2. Hello, As we begin to enter the fall months, I know bass fishing can be hit or miss depending on where you're fishing in your lake and where the bait fish are located in your lake. I live in New York and right now the temperatures are finally starting to drop which generally means that the bait fish will move shallow into the backs of creeks over the next couple weeks and the bass will follow. The lake I have been fishing is about 70 feet deep but very small around. This lake also doesn't have any creeks that run into it which leads me to believe that perhaps it is spring fed from beneath the lake. Unfortunately, I've tried searching for videos, articles, or forum threads that pertain to my question without any luck. My question is, since I do not have any creeks that feed into this lake, will the bait fish still go shallow towards the shore now that the fall season is beginning? Where should I be fishing, should I go deep or cast along drop offs? Should I try going shallow along the banks or near fallen structure? I've seen some huge schools of small bait fish in shallow water a couple weeks ago but that was only once. Knowing where these bait fish are located and where they will go as the water continues to cool down will help me out tremendously. Thank you for your time! Sincerely, Chris
  3. I fish on the Kanawha River in WV, it's similar to the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. I'm never able to find a pattern or large numbers of fish. Anyone have any luck on rivers like this? Where do you find fish? How do you fish them?
  4. Had a few warm days and tried jig fishing the Kanawha river near charleston. No luck. Any tips or ideas for large river patterns in winter?0
  5. I fish in the northern states of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Was wondering what crankbait patterns match the hatch in the northern states. I've had some success on baby bass color, but that has to be a universal color. Looking for other patterns that might work. Thanks!
  6. Where do you guys start on finding smallmouth for tournaments? What structure do you look for, what baits etc...?
  7. This is a forum on bass behavoir right now: are they bedded or cruisin the shallows, are they agressive or suspended on ledges, etc... I'm in illinois and i've had a little luck on ledes and points due to the fluctuating weather we've been having, but, given that said weather is stabilizing, my luck is going to schtako. So, tell us where you are, whats lures have been workin, the bass' behavoir, and where the hell you've been findin 'em!!!
  8. This morning we got some much needed rain. I, of course, fished in it while keeping an eye and ear on the weather. While trying to figure out why this bass didn't want to commit to my chartreuse spinnerbait, I thought it would be cool to take pics of all the areas in this lake (top down view just doesn't get the job done) that I can fish from. Then post it on here to get some feed back on. After reading pitchin' and flippin's post about the zone system, I realized that while that might be cool and, to some degree, generate advice, it would be lazy of me. I should know this lake better than anyone on here. I fish it practically 7 days a week 5-6 hours a day for the last 6 months. I know I am still a rookie to fishing, especially bass fishing, but I should have enough experience on this lake to give other people advice about it. The wheels in my head were turning but there wasn't any grease: The best thing for me to do is figure this lake out myself. Not saying I shouldn't ask for advice about lures and techniques. I would be a fool not to ask those questions. But I won't learn THIS lake without me putting forth the effort. Some people on here have already seen the birds eye view of the lake. But without me telling them, they wouldn't know that the southern point is a shallow-deep-shallow situation. Oh, I might still put pictures up. I would still listen to advice when it's given. But, if I don't learn to pattern and zone this lake for myself then when I get to fish another lake, I will still pull in low numbers. A lot of work with no real results.
