  1. I have always been a frequent visitor to the website and rarely do I see much talk about the keystone state when it comes to our small state park lakes. I am a resident of western pa who fishes Yellow Creek State Park as well as Glendale Lake quite often. If there are any other 20hp restricted guys or gals out there that would like to discuss all things Pennsylvania this is the place!
  2. Anyone know of any good fishing spots? My grandfather came to visit for a week and I'd like to go somewhere where he'll catch some decent fish. Tried nockamixon two days in a row but no luck. Only caught a small bluegill. Please help with any spot suggestions, thank you!
  3. PA, as well as many other states have lakes with hp restrictions. PA's restriction, on my lake specifically (Nockamixon) is 20hp. I currently own a 2005 Stratos 275 Pro XL with a 90hp on it, which obviously can't be used on the Nock. It's too big of a lake to use just the trolling motor to get from spot to spot. I'm probably going to sell the Stratos and get something specifically for the Nock. I will have an even split of fishing alone and fishing with 1 other person on board, so the boat needs to be stable. I'm not looking to try to win any races, but I want the boat to be able to plane. What type of boat do you fish from on restricted lakes? Aside from a decked out jon boat, what type of boat would you suggest? The budget is $9,000 Thanks in advance for your help guys! - Dale
  4. Was out today (4-19). Pretty windy but did well. Caught 8 or 10 largemouth on Senkos. Most all of them were off of a tree or log. One monster smallmouth on a dropshot. Nothing off of the island toward the dam. Anyone had any luck on island yet? Most of my largemouth caught in murkier water on side opposite route 210.
  5. I'm going to school in Lehigh county and I really need some advice on fishing here because I'm not from around here. I am primarily a bass fisher but I also fish for catfish, musky, and trout. Any spots or suggestions you guys have? -BeenReel
  6. Just wanted to see who had some insight on this. I am located in Central Pennsylvania and am an avid bass angler. I am having trouble locating bass in the lakes we fish during the dog days of summer (late July - August). The lakes around us are smaller reservoirs that are usually elecric only or have a limit on outboard power and the water temp now is around 80 degrees. I have been running into a wall when it comes to finding bass in the heat of summer and can't seem to even trigger a bite down deep. I have been working all angles by targeting points at various depths by running swimbaits or cranking at different speeds. I'll also throw a dropshot, carolina or mojo rig working a lizard, tube, worm, or creature of different colors without a single nibble. The only thing that seems to give me success is working on the top or running a spinnerbait shallow early morning or twilight hours. I know everyone is saying that the bass are deeper during the summer but I still can't seem to trigger a bite down there. Obviously, it is hard to be confident spending all that time casting in the depths without any success and I understand it can be exhausting. But I have spent a good chunk of time concentrating on putting my bait in front of bass down deep and still haven't had success. My fishfinder will show me what I want to see with groupings down deeper on a flat or holding above a steep drop off so it seems as if my presentation is flawed. The only other thing I think may be the problem is that I may need to throw a smaller bait. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
  7. Hello, I am from MD, and will be up visiting Towards the end of September. I am hoping we will still have some warm weather to pull some Panfish out of the waters around Coatesville. I would like to teach my nephew how to fish. He is in a wheel chair, so it would have to be somewhere accesible for him. I would like to find a spot that we can go for an hour or so, and get my nephew into the enjoyment of fishing. If anyone knows of a couple productive fishing holes, or even a productive pond someone would allow us to fish, please let me know. Thank you, Matt
  8. Hey everyone, im 16 and currently living in Ohio, but visit to PA at least every other weekend, my dad fishes too but works during the week. I don't have a boat, although i'm currently trying to find a VERY cheap one. I'm trying to find someone to fish with, ive been fishing for about 4 years but have gotten very serious about bass fishing recently. I would be very interested in fishing a tourney with anyone, although im interested in someone to just practice fish or fun fish with. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Derek Garner
  9. Hello, I am really concerned right now about the length of a boat we are getting. For you guys in PA, do our registrations round the length of the boat, like say its 17 1/2 ft. will it appear as 17'? Or is it still considered a 17' boat anyways not 17 1/2? Thanks, Zach
  10. Have many of you fished lakes around beginning of April in the Northeast? How is the fishing? I'm gonna have the boat up and ready to go April 1st. However, I don't have much experience bass fishing this early in the year in lakes. I consider myself an avid fisherman, but not in lakes. I just purchased my first boat last fall. I have a Nitro 700, humminbird side sonar 898c, and all the fishing equipment you could ask for......but.......I need some help with where to start on these early season bass. Any suggestions, tips, or tricks are greatly appreciated! thanks everyone!
  11. Me and a buddy are looking to join a local bass club. We dont own a boat so we would be fishing as non boaters or co anglers. Doesnt have to be like the BASS Federation Nation or anything. Just a local club so we can get the feel of competing and being in the back of the boat. Not to mention the amount of knowledge and experience we will gain. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  12. We have a couple of club tournaments coming up in the next few weeks at Hunter's Lake, in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I've never fished it before, and I'm planning to do some prefishing in the coming days to get ready. I was wondering if anyone has fished it for bass before, and could give me some tips on areas to try/ baits to use? Its one of those lakes where, according to my research, the structure near the shoreline isn't all that impressive, but the structure is mostly in deeper water, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks!!
