  1. This post is a result of my indecision that lead to stressful overthinking. When I ask the following question, consider these factors: I fish one of the shallow finger lakes with lots of vegetation mainly eurasian milfoil, the best places to flip are in the milfoil and under boat docks, the water is ultra clear in the morning and throughout the day progressively gets greener (a light stain caused by gloeotrichia rising from bottom), flipping baits that I’ve used and had moderate success with: D-Bomb, Baby D-Bomb, Pit Boss, Bronco Bug, Sweet Beaver. I like one that has little to no action and glides like a traditional beaver, as well as one that has some more action to it but has less action than a craw style bait. The question: not including craws and tubes; if you could only choose 2 different beaver style baits each in 3 different colors to cover all the conditions listed above, what would you choose? And why?
  2. There really isn't a general MA one so here it is. Post when, where, with what, discuss problems, success, WHATEVER ? ..... just keep it going!
  3. So I’m up in Northeast Ohio while I’m home for spring break and I’m having trouble fishing some of the local ponds. Everything is just starting to thaw and the pond I fish is just about half thawed/half ice. I have to fish from the bank and I usually throw a red eye shad lipless crankbait as a search bait but it seems that even my search bait is inefficient. I was out for 2 hours today in the cold and windy snow and not even so much as a bite. I switched to using a ned rig thinking they might prefer a slower presentation but no luck. I also threw a green pumpkin chatter bait for a while and no luck. I was essentially casting to the ice then reeling in and letting my lure drop from the edge of the ice to the bottom where I expect them to be. Planning on going out later this week, can anyone offer any tactics or better lure suggestions so I can catch my first winter bass? If any of you are familiar, I’m fishing the Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve. It’s got pretty clear water and the shore is shallow for about 5 feet and then has a steep drop off, deep enough that I can’t see the bottom.
  4. Hello. I am new to this forum and a MA fisherman. I am just starting out on the swimbait craze and using a 6" savage gear swimbait but have had no luck at all. Most of the water I fish is usually pretty murky. Any advice?
  5. This is a forum on bass behavoir right now: are they bedded or cruisin the shallows, are they agressive or suspended on ledges, etc... I'm in illinois and i've had a little luck on ledes and points due to the fluctuating weather we've been having, but, given that said weather is stabilizing, my luck is going to schtako. So, tell us where you are, whats lures have been workin, the bass' behavoir, and where the hell you've been findin 'em!!!
  6. Hello, I am a new member but have been fishing for years. I have 3 friends coming up to Massachusetts to fish and I am looking for a guide. Does anyone know of any guides in the northeast? We are willing to travel. Thank you very much to the forum and any help I can get. Rob
