  1. This post is a result of my indecision that lead to stressful overthinking. When I ask the following question, consider these factors: I fish one of the shallow finger lakes with lots of vegetation mainly eurasian milfoil, the best places to flip are in the milfoil and under boat docks, the water is ultra clear in the morning and throughout the day progressively gets greener (a light stain caused by gloeotrichia rising from bottom), flipping baits that I’ve used and had moderate success with: D-Bomb, Baby D-Bomb, Pit Boss, Bronco Bug, Sweet Beaver. I like one that has little to no action and glides like a traditional beaver, as well as one that has some more action to it but has less action than a craw style bait. The question: not including craws and tubes; if you could only choose 2 different beaver style baits each in 3 different colors to cover all the conditions listed above, what would you choose? And why?
  2. New to the site... I'm from the Cap District and was curious to know if there are any smaller lakes or ponds that people recommend or what you've caught or heard reported. I usually fish for largemouth, smallmouth, pike...walleye if present. Fishing out of a Coleman crawdad so the larger bodies of water are kind of out of its league.
  3. I have heard so many mixed things about the smallmouth on the St.Lawrence. I had an idea to just fish Shoals in 25ft with a drop shot. But I am hearing that the smallies will get up on the big flats and you can sight fish them. Is this true? I also heard that the smallmouth will be up shallow 10-15 on rock piles with any weed clumps on them. I know the main forage for those smallmouth in the St.Lawrence are the Gobies. So I know to try and imitate that. I'm just trying to get a big of intel, not specific spots or anything. I am bringing a buddy of mine who doesn't fish all that often, and I just want him to enjoy the weekend catching smallmouth! I will be staying at Wellesley Island State Park, which is right near Alexandria Bay.
  4. Hello everybody! I am thinking of going to the mountains of NY for the first time ever to fish (hopefully) some small, scenic river smallies. I'm from MD. Any area or river recommendations would be helpful (preferably scenic). Anything can help. I'm thinking of just going to lake Lila or the black or Grasse rivers since they are the only things I have seen that would appear to be good for kayak, bass fishing in the wilderness without the worry of motor boats. Kayakable rivers (should have mentioned that) , any help is appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day!
  5. Hi everyone. After reading the Bass Resource forums for years, I finally got around to creating an account. I love fishing ever since my dad showed me how when I was a kid. I try and fish any chance I get in the summer and hibernate in the winter. I enjoy finesse fishing, drop shot, dead sticking senkos and ned rigs on light spinning gear. I hope I can help the community as they have helped me over the years. The knowledge I gained from Bass Resource articles, videos, reading the forums and purchasing sponsored products have been invaluable.
  6. It's getting to be that time of year again. I'm headed up to the greater Rochester area in about 2 weeks. I was wondering if any of the locals to the area know if the run has started yet? How much water is in the creeks right now? Hopefully someone here is local and can provide some insight. Thanks guys!
  7. I'm looking to make the trip up to the Buffalo/Rochester New York area here soon for the fall salmon run. I know the steelhead are starting to run at Erie, but I haven't heard anything on the Salmon yet. Does anyone from the area want to give me a heads up on what they're doing?

  9. Caught on a gary yamamoto senko worm! huge fish, rare for long island.
  10. Hey, anyone from western New York, around Buffalo and the niagara river? If anyone has any good spots for around tonawanda or any where along the niagara river let me know. If youd like to fish together and meet up that would also be great. I only fish from shore but im always looking for new spots and advice about anything! Thanks
  11. I love to fish Green Lakes State Park in Central New York. The lake there has about 15 ft visibility (CRAZY, RIGHT?) and is home to VERY finicky, yet large bass. There seem to be two types of bass here; ones that cruise the shoreline looking for a meal, and those settled on lay downs along the shore. The settled bass seem to be much more active, but harder to find. I fish exclusively from shore, as no boats are allowed. Any suggestions for lures or techniques?
