  1. I'm not going to lead the witness at all by giving any more information than needed. Let me ask you what exactly you would use this rod for, and what gear ratio would the reel be? 7 foot medium heavy / moderate fast Go.
  2. If you guys needed one rod for each of the three categories below, what would they be (in terms of power, action, glass/graphite, length, etc), and what do you use if you already have a rod that covers some? - Jig/Frog/ heavy cover rod -Spinnerbait/chatterbait/crank rod -topwater rod I'm curious as to what you guys use. I will be purchasing three rods to cover all these and want to see what others opinions are.
  3. I typically fish with two rods one for Texas rig the other for wacky. In the past I've always done 7 ft MH F for both but not sure what is best for my wacky set up. I do fish heavy cover, in MA and NH, every time and use green braid line. Whats the best spinning rod (length and action) and braid (lb. test and brand) for wacky rig in heavy cover?
  4. About to purchase new rod for spinning setup. It's my first over 20$ setup. I just bought a lews Tournament speed spin 300. There are major sales right now, and these are my choices. I cannot try them out in stores so am looking for some info on them; experience, flaws, overall value. -Veritas 2.0, 7ft MH-$65 (reluctant because of breaking history) -Falcon HD, 7ft M-$69.99 -H20 Express Ethos 6'10 MH-$59.99 -Shimano Clarus, 7ft MH-$49.99
  5. So I was thinking about all the discussions based around rod power and action and how hard it is to describe this without comparing it to another rod that most anglers are familiar with. With that in mind I started wondering about what everyone's thoughts were about what is the "Poster Child" or standard for MH F rods. What one rod best fits this designation as a baseline for all others to be compared to. Maybe length is a consideration in this, so lets keep is narrowed down to rods right around 7' or so.
  6. I've purchased two Aetos rods lately, both having the same listed weight rating. My 6"6 (2 piece), Medium Fast rod is listed on their site as 1/4-3/8, but the rod actually says "1/8-3/4" Conversely, my 6'8", Medium Heavy, extra fast action rod also is listed as 1/4-3/8 on their site, and actually has that rating printed on it. This cannot be right, right? It's substantially beefier than the Medium rod, so I feel it has to be in error.
  7. I have kind of a stupid question but I figured I might as well ask it on this site because of the great insight I have been getting. I like to fish a lot of soft plastics and have had great success. However; I have seen in fishing videos the angler notes that you must let it fall on slack line. What exactly does this mean? I usually reel slow and allow some line to not be directly tightened while it falls, is this the same thing? Thanks
  8. I just recently picked up an Abu Garcia Veritas 7' MH rod and an Abu Garcia Promax2 7.1:1, 8 ball bearing reel and I'm wondering what I should run on it. It holds 12lb mono 145 yd and 30lb braid 145 yd... I'm going to run 30 lb braid but which of the following should I do? a. (x)lb mono backing and 30 lb braid (Don't know exact lengths of each) b. 30lb braid only c. 30 lb braid with a (x)lb mono leader (Don't know exact length of each) d. 30 lb braid with a (x)lb fluorocarbon leader (Don't know exact length of each) Much appreciated, thanks!
  9. After trying Duckett micro magic for the first time last year I am making a switch for fish them exclusively. I know I want a 7' MH for my Texas rig worms, but my question is will that rod also work for my jig fishing. I don't know if I should move up to a heavy action? The one thing I did notice last year is that the rods seem a little light on the tip and I want to make sure I get a good hook set when I'm pitching a jig in moderate cover. Need advice!
