    I just started using lipless crankbaits my question is are Xcalibur XR100 Rattle Bait I am finding them in the price range of $11.00 to $29.00 is that normal price range for Xcalibur lipless. I been looking at other manufactures but really like the patterns of a few of the Xcalibur ones. Thanks for any information in advance

    Does anyone have any experience with these lipless Crankbaits ( bps xts or bps xps) Got a gift certificate and want to make it go as far as possible. They get decent reviews on the BPS site but not sure. thanks Gregg

    As my rod and reel arsenal grows, I’ve been looking into some specific rods for a few of my techniques. One will be strictly a lipless crankbait rod. Looking for something around 7’3”. Nothing shorter than 7’. I mostly throw 1/4oz SK RES, but I also use 1/2oz on occasion. I also like the original trap when they like a fast paced, steady retrieve and I only use the 1/2oz. I would prefer a medium heavy action bc I like the backbone for fishing grass and submerged cover, so a 1/4oz-3/4oz or 1/4oz-1oz rating seems about right. Either a moderate or moderate fast action. Just a little bit of give in the tip to avoid pulling hooks. My main concern is the weight of the rod. I’m normally making super long casts and burning it back trying to find fish and usually once I find them I just keep throwing it bc I have so much confidence in it. Needless to say, I’m looking for the lightest rod I can get away with. Thanks in advance for any opinions. Looking forward to seeing some of y’all’s recommendations.

    So I’m up in Northeast Ohio while I’m home for spring break and I’m having trouble fishing some of the local ponds. Everything is just starting to thaw and the pond I fish is just about half thawed/half ice. I have to fish from the bank and I usually throw a red eye shad lipless crankbait as a search bait but it seems that even my search bait is inefficient. I was out for 2 hours today in the cold and windy snow and not even so much as a bite. I switched to using a ned rig thinking they might prefer a slower presentation but no luck. I also threw a green pumpkin chatter bait for a while and no luck. I was essentially casting to the ice then reeling in and letting my lure drop from the edge of the ice to the bottom where I expect them to be. Planning on going out later this week, can anyone offer any tactics or better lure suggestions so I can catch my first winter bass? If any of you are familiar, I’m fishing the Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve. It’s got pretty clear water and the shore is shallow for about 5 feet and then has a steep drop off, deep enough that I can’t see the bottom.

    Interested in hearing what everyone's ideal setup would be for this technique. Lipless crankbaits, or simply "traps" as I like to call them, are hands down my favorite search bait and one of my all around favorites to throw. I almost exclusively throw a Strike King RES in the 1/4oz size. I'll throw the old Rat-L-Trap every now and then, but I have better luck with the RES. I'm also looking to try out some other brands, especially the Yamamoto and the Spro. I'm currently using an "unnamed" 7' MF Rod that retails in the $70 range that I found on sale (possibly marked wrong) at Walmart for $25, paired with a Daiwa Tatula 100 6.3:1. I've tried all different line types and I like flouro. I personally love P-Line Flouroclear (I think that may actually be a co-poly). Also experimented with everything from 8# to 20# and I usually go with 12#, but I'll bump it up to 15# if I know I will be fishing it slower than usual.     Hey guys, First post btw Ok, so I only have 3 lipless crankbaits so far and I've caught a couple on each and would like to get some more, the ones I have are 2 rat-l-trap (crawfish pattern and bluegill pattern), and 1 red eye shad (sexy shad) I'm wanting to know which are better or if there are any other lipless crankbaits around that price that yall recommend so I can get a few more and in which colors. I fish a small lake/really big pond with mainly bluegill and a few craws aroynd the shallow rocks. Thanks!

    What are the specs to look for when picking a good lipless crankbait rod? and What rod have you used for lipless that you like? I can't decide what I want to use for this set up or what I want to get for this set up. I really like 7' rods, but most of the things I have read say you want a 6'6 rod to get the right presentation. Also, what power and action is best? Any help would be appreciated, if you need to know I will mostly be fishing this with braid and using a reel with a ratio between 6 and 7 because I've seen and found out that anything lower than 6 is to slow. If you need any more information or have any other suggestions about lipless crankbait set up for me, let me know I am all ears. Thanks a head of time.

    Hey guys, I have had a question for a while and am just now getting around to asking it. Crankbaits are my go-to bait. I have caught all but two of my bass on them. However, they are quite expensive, especially having to buy ones to cover all depths as well as colors. I have been wondering if there is any advantage to regular cranks over lipless cranks, because with lipless cranks you don't have to buy different depths. So basically, do you prefer crankbaits, lipless cranks or both and for what reasons? Thanks in advance!

    Why can I catch plenty of fish on a 1/2oz but they wont touch a 3/4? It can't be that its too big. I have caught plenty of 3lb fish from this lake on a 6" swim bait, 8" fish on a 10" worm etc... Maybe the alewife they are changing are exactly the size of the 1/2 oz? Maybe they chose the smaller, weaker ones? Anyone have luck with a 3/4 oz rattling lipless crank? The vast majority of the ones I see being fished are the 1/2oz variety. thanks
