  1. Hi guys! I'm taking my 2 boys to Lindsey's resort on the river in Heber Springs. Anyone have any advise for early spring trout?
  2. I'm curious to see when some of you guys got your kids into bass fishing. I've taken my son bluegill and crappie fishing before and he keeps telling me he wants to land a "hog". Also, did you start them off on a spin cast reel? or go straight into spinning gear?
  3. My four year old son absolutely loves fishing tackle. I've given him a few cranks, some flukes, various craws and his own bag of Yum Dingers. I will of course take some night crawlers to let him bobber fish but he really wants to use some of his lures. We've tried trolling crankbaits with no success. He can cast a good 30-40 feet with his Zebco. I was thinking Dingers and maybe a finesse worm on a shakey head. Have any of you let your small kids use artificial baits for bass with any success? If so, what did they use?
  4. hi all! Sorry i have been MIA for a bit....broken truck...sold bass boat. BUT that is a different thread lol. I am looking for a rod for my 7 yr old son. I am quite frustrated with what i can find....it isn't much. The cheapies i bought him when he started out and his UL are slow parabolic rods. When he goes back the tip loads for him which helps him cast. Do you all know of a rod series that is 5'6 pistol grip medium action? Have any of you bought rods for kids? I can't find any short glass rods anymore. I can't see a 4' 49lb kid using a full size bass casting rod. If nothing else, the handles on my rods are just too long for his arms. I could use spinning but for accuracy right now i really prefer to pair him with a push button reel. (or i'm getting him out of trees all day) sincerely, Frustrated Dad
  5. I bought my little girl a pole recently - yes, one of those cheap character ones, she's 3- she wanted the princess one! I was wondering if it'd be possible to replace the line on it. It did stand up to landing about a 1.5lb bass the other day. I have some 8lb test line I was thinking of putting on it, but didn't know if it'd handle it or if it'd even be worth my trouble. Any advice?
