  1. I found a St Croix Mojo Bass casting rod on sale for $75 so I grabbed it. It's a 7'11" heavy powered rod with a moderate fast taper. The rod is made for flipping into heavy cover but with me living in Indiana there isn't a lot of heavy cover in the ponds and lakes that I fish. I need some suggestions on what I can use it for besides flipping.
  2. Hello all! I'm new to the site and fairly new to bass fishing. I'm from East Central Indiana. This summer is when I really got back into fishing/bass fishing. I grew up fishing for about anything I could get on a hook. Always wanted to get into bass fishing but never took the time to try. This summer I decided to start getting back into fishing after not fishing for several years. It's been a blast. Looking forward to meeting some new people and learning as much as I possibly can about bass fishing. Don't really wanna talk about my PB. Nothing to be excited about. ?
  3. Looking to find some new tourneys in the indiana areas.
  4. Hello! Newer to bass fishing and I am looking at potentially trying to find a club? There is very little information online regarding this I have found and wanted to know if anyone could help out? Also I do not have a boat, not sure if this would be an issue. Thanks in advance!
  5. I'll be in Indianapolis this Fri/Sat at the Convention Center, coming from San Clemente, California. I'll have 3-4 hours to go fish somewhere, including travel time. Where can I go that is nearby (within 20-45 minutes drive in an Uber or BlueIndy)? I'll have an Okuma travel rod & plastics. Any kind of fishing. If it's something I won't find elsewhere, even better. But really anywhere I can get a fish to bite, except pet stores :). If there's a tackle shop I should stop at for the appropriate local jig or bait, that would be great too. Also any advice for fishing in the cold. I'll have a heavy jacket and gloves. Thanks!
  6. Hey Guys and Gals, I was out fishing the last few days and saw something I haven't seen before. I have a good idea of the patterns of bass when they spawn. I live in central Indiana and the spawn has just started really. While I was out bed fishing at my local ponds, I saw something weird that I personally haven't ever seen before. While working on a bed fish, I would notice that the fish would leave the bed for a minute or so and go into the grass line. Which in my eyes is normal. The thing that was weird was the same fish would go to multiple beds and stay there for a few minutes then head off to another bed. Has anyone ever heard of bass having more than one bed? If you have any ideas on why they would do this please let me know, i'm curious.
  7. Hello, I am Benjamin or Mangled Angles haha. I am living in Northern Indiana currently but have had the opportunity to fish around the whole US. Two years ago tragedy happened for my fishing life, as well as my normal life. I lost my Uncle whom taught me to fish, my brother i fished with my whole life, and my dog that was always with me fishing. After all this happened I moved to Texas from my home. Texas is where I met my beautiful wife, the love of my life. I am 24 years old she is 21. I have been fishing since I was 5 she has rarely fished at all. She has gotten me back into fishing, a part of my life that I needed. Two weeks ago for the first time in two years we set out, knowing it was too early to really find aggressive bass around here. The first cast out with my uncles old rod and I could feel them with me. Proud not only of me but the woman I found that helped me get back into fishing. Thanks for welcoming me to the forums. Good fishing.
  8. Hello guys, I need some advice. I'm in the southern part of Indiana, and have been struggling to catch fish consistently. I am pond hoping around ponds I've caught fish from before. The water color isn't brown but is murky. I can see about six ft from the bank. The last week has had little rain and sunny days. I've tried many diffident baits like jigs, swim baits, soft plastics, spinners, cranks, and about anything else I have in my bag. As I look around the bank I see bait fish and bluegill. I have caught some fish on beds and around points. I just cant see to find them for the last few days. If you have any tips or tricks please let me know. I'm open to anything.

  15. Alright guys, I wanna hear from some Hoosier bass fisherman here. I have a friend who happens to live near an old flooded gravel pit with some super clean clear water. Limited shallow cover, lots of deep water with weeds and rocks. I have caught several largemouth from here that have been up to 5 pounds. In the past I have had limited success and never really been able to figure it out and catch bass consistently. Typically my confidence baits are jigs, squarebills and texas rigged soft plastic creature baits. All of these have caught "some" fish here but I would love some tips for very clear water. What do you guys have success with on clear, deep bodies of water?
  16. I took advantage of the full moon and the wonderful weather this evening. I caught a few largemouth on a Strike King Rage Blade and a few more on a Arbogast Hula Popper. This was my biggest (caught on a popper).
  17. I managed to land a few Indiana pond bass this morning on a rage blade. None of them were huge, but it was still nice to get a few tugs on my line.
  18. Looking to fish some of the FLW Walmart Series (BFL) events in the Buckeye and Hoosier divisions. Mostly the ones on the Ohio River. Can be tempted to fish other divisions/tournaments if all goes well. Me: 30+ years fishing experience and the right attitude on tourney day. You: Close to the same. Objective: Try to win of course but if we don't it's not the end of the world. Reply here and/or send PM. E...
  19. Central Indiana 15 mph winds Sunny, 60 degrees Dirty water, stormed last night I figured the wind was blowing the warmer water (and baitfish) to the shallow end of the pond. Sure enough, as soon as I started throwing a red spinnerbait I started reeling in fish. I caught about 20 fish in two hours. Here are a few of my best catches... I love days like this!
  20. I got out for an hour before the sun set this evening. I wasn't having any luck tossing a jig so I switched to a Zara Spook. Just as I finished tying my knot it started raining. I still managed to land a couple before I started getting soaked and called it a night. I'm really enjoying my new rod & reel.
  21. I caught half a dozen 10" bass from a central Indiana pond yesterday on a red spinnerbait. It was in the high 40s with a steady wind. Today is supposed to be warmer so hopefully I can get out for a while.
  22. Location: Central Indiana Water: Shallow end of a 3.5 acre pond Lure: X-Rap Pop (Yellow Perch) Gear: Spinning I hooked two in a row just as the last light of the day faded away. It felt good to get my line wet again. I'm so glad winter is over.
  23. Hello Everyone, My name is Terry Sturgeon and I live close to Brookville Lake. I am looking for help on nonboaters at this time. I would like to fish some small tournaments for this year and see how I work out. If things go okay I will look for a boat this winter and see how I can do in tournaments next year with a boat. Any pointers on boats, reels, rods or anything fishing would be appreciated. I have alwasy been a fan of buzzbaits. Thanks in advance
  24. Hey guys - we have a few open spots in a really great local bass club in Southern Indiana and we are looking for a few new members. Our club is called the Patoka Fishing League (PFL) and all of our tourneys are held on Patoka Lake from March through Sept. We have 10 tourneys per year and a 2 day Classic to finish the season. We are a pretty low-maintenance group and we are not affiliated with FLW or BASS so there are no meetings, dues, officers, etc... Our club has a great group of guys and it is drama free!!! We are competitive and we all fish hard to win, but we maintain great sportsmanship and have excellent fellowship among our members. Tourneys are $50 with optional $10 big fish. We also keep an optional $5 progressive side pot for a fish over 5 lbs. We have a team format so you pick your own partner. We are very liberal about subs for all tourneys except the Classic, so if you can't make a tourney you can bring a sub at any time, or even send a sub boat in your place as long as its not KVD!!! All teams pay a $100 prepay toward the Classic at the beginning of the year that is set aside until the Classic in September. Teams need to fish or be represented in 9 of 10 tourneys to make the Classic, but historically everybody makes the Classic and that is just what we want. Our club aims to be inclusive not exclusive and we want every single team to make the Classic every year. We will even try to help you find a sub if you aren't going to be able to make a tourney. If you would like to see a schedule and get more information, please feel free to email me. If you know anybody in the Southern Indiana/Louisville area who might be interested please let them know about our club. Dan Brinegar uk2thdoc@gmail.com Jeffersonville, IN
