  1. Just saw the press release. Had to know it was coming... happy I didn’t buy the regular 360 in the past year like I wanted to. https://www.humminbird.com/learn/imaging/MEGA-360-imaging?utm_source=MEGA 360 Launch Announcement remainder&utm_medium=Ascent_Email&utm_campaign=3646833&utm_term=MTY5NTA1ODk3MDY1S0&utm_content=June 28, 2019&spMailingID=3646833&spUserID=MTY5NTA1ODk3MDY1S0&spJobID=801157383&spReportId=ODAxMTU3MzgzS0#utm_source=ascent&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mega-360&utm_term=icast
  2. I’m looking to get to remove a flush mounted (at the console )Humminbird 999 . Tried removing screws and just pulling but didn’t want to go break anything . I have a skeeter 2014 zx190 If that helps. Please and thanks!
  3. I’m needing some help determining what the problem is with my unit. I have 2 helix 7 si chirp gps g2 units. My unit at my console was working fine then I put a Terrova on my boat and had to add a third battery. I’m not sure if there is electrical noise in the power to my unit or what’s going on but the unit started showing junk in the first ten feet of my down imaging. If I speed up to like 5mph it will go away, but if I slow down then the junk re appears. I thought the transducer was messed up so I swapped them out with the transducer on my other unit that I had and it shows the same thing. I thought the electrical noise was in my transducer so I put my boat in the water and plugged my spare transducer in, ran the wire on the deck instead of running it beside all the other wires to eliminate any noise, and put that transducer right beside the mounted transducer and it showed this same thing. I’ve called humminbird, they haven’t helped me. They aren’t sure. I have the most updated software and that didn’t help. If anyone has any idea what could be going on and has any suggestions please let me know, it will be much appreciated!!
  4. I have a few different graphs and a new trolling motor and I'm wondering what you think the optimal setup is with what I currently have. Below are the graphs and trolling motor I have. Humminbird Helix 12 Mega SI G2N (no chip installed yet) Humminbird Helix 10 SI (Not sure what Gen but has networking capability. Model # is 409990-1) Lakemaster V7 chip Humminbird Helix 10 Sonar (Not sure what Gen but has networking capability. Model # is 409960-1) Lakemaster V5 chip installed Humminbird Helix 7 SI Gen 1 (No networking ability) Navionics chip installed Minn Kota Ulterra 112 thrust trolling motor with Ipilot LINK and Mega DI The Helix 12 and trolling motor are new. I had the 7 SI on my previous boat and recently picked up the 10s as a package used for a decent price. I appreciate any input you have on: 1. How I should utilize what I have above? (Anything I should get rid of or don't need?) 2. Which unit I should have linked to the Ipilot LINK? 3. What do you recommend for the console/front/back of the boat and how to use when fishing? 4. Which transducers would you use and where? (Do I need more than 1 SI transducer mounted-have 3 but one is a mega, one is a larger one for the 10 SI and the 7 SI transducer is smaller) 5. Which units should have/need Lakemaster chips? (I only have 2 that are different versions as of this point) I know it is needed for ipilot link but anything else they are needed for? 6. Any units I don't need or should get rid of? Four units seem like a lot but maybe not? 7. I believe I will need to get a network hub but is there anything else I need or that you would recommend to get the most out of what I have? 8. When these units are networked, what kind of information can I expect to get from them being networked and how should I utilize the information? Sorry for all of the questions, but I really want to try and get this right the first time. I primarily fish a larger body of water (Mille Lacs) for small mouth if it matters. I am fairly new to fishing and am hoping the new setup can help me in getting on fish. BTW-my boat is a four corner fishing pontoon and I will likely have friends fishing with my on all four corners at various times. My wife wanted something comfy and multi purpose and wasn't as much interested in our main boat being a bass boat given how quick the weather can change. Hopefully I'll be able to get a bass boat in the future but I think I need to get better at fishing before she would consider letting me getting something more specific. James
  5. I’m curious as to whether or not anyone has knowledge of new graphs on the horizon for this winter? I know a lot of manufacturers save (or target) their new models for release at Icast, but that’s not until next summer. I was looking at Humminbird’s the other day, I’m planning to add another one to my boat this winter. While looking at prices and options I realized that they just released G2 solix units. It piqued my interest a bit- I was hoping they added functionality for Solix to Helix Ethernet networking, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Without an official press release from Humminbird the only new feature I could find was compatibility with the new Ultrex trolling motors that have the Mega DI transducer built into the trolling motor. It got me thinking though, am I better off waiting for a potential new unit instead of upgrading as soon as possible? I’ll be winterizing my boat in the next few weeks, so not really in a rush. I currently am running a Helix 10 Mega SI G2N and Helix 7 SI G2N. They’re both networked to the Ethernet hub along with my Ultrex/link trolling motor. I planned on adding another 10” or 12” unit, but don’t want to buy a roughly 2 year old graph at full price just to have them release a new model a few months later. I already went through that with the Ultrex, within weeks of buying mine Minn Kota released the new version with Mega DI transducer. Wish I could add or swap out that transducer instead of using the US2 that mine came with...
  6. I have a new Humminbird Helix 10 SI that I have networked with my older 798CI so they use the same transducer. When fishing the past few times I have noticed that the 798 displayes fish arches much better than the Helix 10. I have adjusted the input frequecy and sensativity and tried to match what the 798 setting are as well as trying to modify the sensativity on both units. When I increase the sensativity on the Helix 10 the fish arches start to improve but they get washed out with background noise before that are clear like they appear on my 798. I have also checked the filter settings. Any Ideas on what may be causing this?
  7. Hi All, I have been searching high and low for an answer to where to mount my HDSI transducer to the transom of my Ranger 482V. I have already installed the dual beam thru hull transducer for on pad depth readings but need to mount the HDSI to my transom. My boat has no jack plate. I have a Stern Pad plate that I would like to use if possible to prevent having to drill through my hull. With the stern pad and transducer mounted beside and below the engine mounts the transducer will stick past the lower unit of my motor, therefore, causing the potential for interference on my side imaging signal. I am hoping that someone can advise me on where to put my transducer or can take a picture of where their side imaging transducer is mounted to their transom. Are there any 482/481V owners out there that can send me a pic or tell me where they have had the best results?
  8. Does anyone have Great Plans on their HB GPS if so would anyone please take a picture of Lake Heidecke and show me the topography of the lake. I have the Navionics + maps and its very wrong with depth. Looking to buy the GP chip but without seeing the maps I feel like I'm going to waste 124$ Of if you have one your looking to sell.......
  9. I ask for your patience as I describe my current set up and future plans. I currently have a hbird 859 di unit at the bow and a 898 si unit at the console. My 859 stopped working, it does have power. Hbird wants $300 to service it. I'm thinking rather than spend any more $ on that unit, maybe it's time to upgrade. I'm looking at going with a Helix 9 Mega SI G2N (I really want to get something with mega imaging). My thought is to use it up front until they come out with mega imaging for di units. At that time I would probably upgrade my back unit as well (moving the side imaging to the back and the down imaging unit up front). If I do purchase a Helix 9 Mega SI G2N it will mean installing another side imaging transducer on the transom. I need advice on this install. I currently have my 898 transducer on the port side on a transducer mounting plate. Would it be best to mount the new transducer on a different plate on the starboard side of the transom? I'm not sure I can get low enough on the plate I'm using for the 898 on the port side. I also have questions regarding the "cross talk" issue. When I move from the back to the front of the boat to fish, do I need to shut down my unit on the console so it doesn't interfere with the new unit up front, or is there a way around that? I apologize for the lengthy post. I would appreciate any help on this I can get.
  10. Hi everyone, just a quick question regarding Navionics cards and the Humminbirds I'm going to be buying. Do both console and bow units have to have the same card loaded if I'm running them together on Link? Or is only one card required and then the data be visible on the alternate unit?? It's probably an easy question, but I'm new to this whole electronics stuff....lol Any help appreciated! Attila
  11. I need to upgrade the fishfinders on my boat. I have been looking at the lowrance hds gen 2 touch and the humminbird helix g2n. I am willing to spend around $1600. Has anyone had any experiances with either the humminbird helix g2n or the hds gen 2? What one should I buy? Are there any different fishfinders you recommend? Thanks.
  12. Looking for a new one, I don't need maps or even GPS. Basically I've narrowed it down to 3 specific models. The Garmin striker 7sv, what I like about it is the chirp with down imaging and side imaging it also goes up to 800 KHz on the clear vu and down vu. The Humminbird Helix 7 Chirp SI GPS G2, I like everything about this except it does not have 800 KHz but it has a 455 kHz: 420-520 kHz. The 3rd is the Humminbird Helix 7 DI, it has a higher frequency (800 KHz) for its down imaging but it does not have side imaging....I kinda want side imaging. Right now I have a older Humminbird on my boat, so if I did go with Humminbird I would not need to drill new holes in my boat. Thoughts please.
  13. So I took my boat out today to see if I fixed the leaks that I discovered the last time I had it out and also to play with my Helix 5. I found a stick bed that I wanted to mark so made a waypoint on it and later on I decided I wanted to rename it to make more sense. When I went into Edit mode on the waypoint the text box that contains the name was a white box and the letters were white too!! So I had to guess which direction to move the cursor numerous times until I found the right letter, then go to the next letter and repeat the same insanity all over again. There is probably a very simple answer to this, but how to I get the letters to be seen in the text box? You can see in the background of the attached screenshot that I finally did get the name changed but it took about 5 minutes!!! THANKS!! Mike
  14. I just bought the 859ci hd di and 899ci hd si units. I also bought 2 ethernet dongles, 20 ft ethernet cable and the Y cable. Can I network these 2 units without using the humminbird 5 port ethernet switch? Can I use just one transducer?
  15. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the big Humminbird news was today?
  16. Hello guys, I'm kinda confused right now. I just picked up a humminbird 898c si unit. I would like to purchase a map chip but don't have a clue on which one is right for me. I fish mainly Everglades canals, south Florida canals and okeechobee. I was looking into the chips but it seems that they only cover okeechobee. I just want some that will show me where I can go without getting into trouble and go out and it will tell me how to get back in(incase I don't remember). I have navionics on my phone and it does a great job but the water I fish they aren't detailed except okeechobee. Thanks for any input, all appreciated. Tight lines.
  17. I run Helix 7 SI units on my boat. I've been looking at the Navionics and Lakemaster cards. What are your thoughts on them? Does either one have a benefit over the other? Navionics+ is $199 for maps of US and Canada, whereas Lakemaster is a regional card, coming in at $150 for 9 regional states. I used to do an annual trip to Canada, but haven't done it in a few years, so I'm not sure if I'll ever use Canada maps. The only state that the Lakemaster card does not have is Maryland that I may be interested. Does either have better quality maps? Can I put the SD cards into my computer prior to fishing and preset waypoints for areas that I want to fish? What are the pros vs cons of both? Thanks! -Dale
  18. Hi guys. I am looking for advice on which fish finder to buy for my boat...Tracker 2010 DV16 I mainly fish for bass and walleye in anywhere from 3 to 25 feet of water. I definitely want side scan capability and have done a lot of research already but wanted to hear more advice from someone who may know more. Right now I have narrowed it down to 2 options: Should I go with the Lowrance hds7 lss for $1,499.00 or The Humminbird Helix9 si for $999.00 plus I'll be using the Humminbird Transducer Exchange program to upgrade to the HD transducer for an extra $85. Thanks in advance for your help, Joe
  19. Anyone have any opinions on the Humminbird Helix 7 Di this is what i had planned on buying and putting on the front of my boat for now because most of the lakes i would be fishing in NOVA are electric only lakes and maybe next year get one with Side Imaging for the driver for the seldom times i go to a lake i can use a gas engine.
  20. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252354925648?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT $30 for a $700 unit? It's from China... second red flag. No feedback on seller, third red flag. I can't imagine this is real, but doesn't paypal protect you if it isn't? I can't see how someone could benefit from trying to scam here.
  21. I have a 2015 ranger z118 that I ordered from the factory brand new, it has a humminbird 999 at the console and at the bow and they work flawlessly. Cabelas just had a deal on a humminbird 1199 fully loaded that I couldn't pass up. My question is how do I mount both units at the console. I like the idea of them surface mounted side by side but I'm open to suggestions. I'd really like to see pictures of other people's set ups or what they used to mount both on a ranger dash. Any help is appreciated
  22. Recently bought a boat to fix up and I'm wondering if anyone out there has a bit of advice whether to get a unit for the front deck or one by the console. I prefer humminbird or lowrance. Im not looking to spend a lot. somewhere between 500-700. Eventually I will then buy a better second unit. I've heard Humminbird is more user friendly, but I've also heard that lowrances can be great. Also if anyone's thoughts on autochart.
  23. Anybody familiar with the new helix series? Specifically the helix 5 DI GPS. Haven't been able to find much buyer reviews anywhere on this model, but from the few I have found they have been pretty good. Thanks !
  24. has anyone used this fishfinder? if so was it worth the money, and how did it stand up to your expectations? are their any other brands that are portable like this. i canoe fish and have a jon boat so portable is best for me. http://www.basspro.com/Humminbird-120-Fishin-Buddy-Ultimate-Portable-Fishfinder/product/97456/ thanks in advance!
  25. I need some help setting up my humminbird 561 sonar. When I turn the unit on the sonar shows nothing but grey. I have reduced the noise and the sensitivity and it dulls down the grey but thats it. Never shows fish or much structure. I really know nothing about sonars and would like help atleast with basic settings to get the sonar going.
