  1. Just on here looking for comments in reference to fishing on Fort Stewart. Trying to figure out everyones favorite ponds and/or baits to use. There are multiple double digit bass pulled out of these waters, and I am curious to hear some stories on how and where they did it. Also they have started fishing tournaments and I was wandering how those were going and what seemed to be working during those. Thanks for any and all input.
  2. From the album: Easter 2018

6.5 lb bass caught in Newnan, GA by Brynn Vogelsang
  3. This week I plan on visiting my local Bass Pro Shops to do some shopping for lures but I do not know what to purchase so far I have the Salty Super Fluke and the Ribbit Frog in watermelon color. We are new to the Georgia fishing lakes not sure what fish bites what so I am asking everyone here. I tried the Super Fluke few times last week and this early morning when I took my father to Lake Blackshear and fished off the dock since we do not own a boat. Thank you for your time. - Jamie
  4. I moved to Statesboro a few months back and I'm looking to find some places to fish. I am not a college student, but they were doing work on the University's ponds and I'm sure they're unfishable right now; I'm not even sure they would let me fish there. I haven't fished in probably close to a year, if not a year. I'm jonesing to start back to fishing.
  5. Hey y’all! My name is David and I currently live in Kennesaw, Georgia but I’m moving to Auburn, Alabama in July. I am really new to fishing have been fishing as a sport for about a year now; mainly for bass but I really enjoy other types of fishing as well. Therefore, any beginner tips are appreciated. This summer I’m looking to step up my fishing game. I’ve been getting into kayak fishing, and I really want some new rods and reels to add to my arsenal. I already have a 6’6” medium spinning rig. If anyone could recommend what they think are 2 or 3 super versatile rod/reel setups and their uses, that would be massively helpful! I was thinking 1 more spinning set up and 2 baitcasters. I want some more gear but I don’t want to be bogged down with too many rods and reels. Any help is welcome! Also, does anyone know of kayak bass tournaments in Alabama? Since I’m moving there this summer, I want to get involved in competitions in Alabama. Really excited to be on the forum! Thank you in advance for any help! Cheers ?, David
  6. Thought I would have a posting of my experiences on Clarks Hill/Strom Thurmond lake. Feel free to post your own report here, or keep it a secret...lol. 10/3/2014 Evening bite is excellent, top water bait in the shallows and a drop bait off the points. Buddy pulled in 2x 5+lbs, I was at work, about killed me not being out there. Attached are his fish, not mine. 10/4/2014 Morning slow action but were schooling well after the sun came up in the coves where the wind was blowing into. Top water rattles about 50yrds off of the shore caught some smalls. Watermelon lizard in the shallows caught some more smalls. Water is very low and clear, be cautious of just under the water between the islands, many trees and stumps.
  7. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had a private pond or knows of any ponds near Macon that I could fish today?
  8. Hey guys new member here. Ive long looked into many forums from bass resource.com. Excited to join and get any tips and advice from more experienced anglers! I fish local waters in South Georgia and North Florida. A lot of pressured places but i sometimes do well. I plan to very soon get into kayak bass fishing. Maybe even tournaments! Y'all have a good one!
  9. Went over to a small private lake after work just to relax a bit! And BOOM! I didn't have a scale, but she was big! I spent 5 months unable to catch an LMB in Georgia, and only recently broke the streak. Pretty happy!!!
  10. Does anyone have any suggestions for night fishing at allatoona without a boat?
  11. Who is down to finally kick off a full spring of catches!? If anyone around Georgia wants to get together let me know! I live in Macon, Ga but I am willing to travel!
  12. Hey guys, my name is Daniel Brennan and I live in Macon, Ga. I'm obviously new lol. I recently got back into fishing big time over the past year and currently need help rebuilding tackle and realllly need some places to fish, if anyone knows of any privates ponds or lakes they wouldn't mind me using, that'd be freaking awesome. I am a Afghanistan war veteran and still serve the Georgia Army National Guard. Feel free to message me at 4789547758 about going fishing or any waters I can have access to! Good day gents
  13. Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I figured a good way to start off would be by creating a new Topic. Im not sure if this topic has already been created because I'm still getting used to the site but here it is: Medium to Large Swimbaits in Georgia. Has anyone had any luck with them? If so where and what kind? Im just now getting into bigger swim bait fishing so any tips or help are more than welcome. I recently purchased an 801MHFB swimbait rod that is rated 1-6oz and paired it with a Shimano Cardiff 301A. In addition, I purchased a Jackall Gantarel (RT Bluegill color), a Huddleston Top Hook Bluegill (Bluegill Color), and a Huddleston 6" trout (Baby Bass color). Like I said I've just gotten into the swimbait game so all help, tips, and advice are welcome.
  14. Hi all, . I live in North Georgia and don't get to fish as often as I used to, so I thought I might seek your advice. I've got a trip planned to a small private fishery (also in north Georgia) on the third weekend of April around the new moon and im expecting the bass to be spawning. The lake im fishing is about 20 acres, holds big largemouth, has a good mix of cover/structure (including blow downs and rock piles), and the lake has a lot of crappie in it. I have not seen shad on my previous trips. With this info, could you guys suggest some ways to target bass other than site fishing in these conditions? In the past I have had my best success there in the shallows on 6" Texas rigged zoom lizards. I have also had sporadic success on a spinnerbait, senkos, and a Devils Horse. I have caught several fish in the 3 and 4 lb range but none of the big females I know are in there. What would you guys do? Thanks so much in advance!!! p.s.(the attached picture is of my big fish from last year, caught on a devil's horse on a rainy day)
  15. Hey guys, so my lake is heavily pressured and the conditions are not that great currently and I'm only catching about a 1:10 ratio of me fishing in my friends ponds. The thing is, they live far and I can't go there all the time. Does anyone know of some good public fishable ponds or lakes near cumming georgia? also if you are allowed to kayak on the lake/pond for fishing. Thanks!
  16. Hi All, I'm a co angler looking for a boater link for the upcoming 2016 FLW BFL season for the Bulldog and/or Savannah divisions to sign up with and assure us both of a guaranteed spot. Also would be interested in practicing at any of the tournament lakes from now until tournament date. Would certainly not mind sharing expenses to do some practice fishing. Shoot me a PM if interested. Thanks
  17. Anybody here fish in a neighborhood lake in cumming georgia called long lake? I fish there almost everyday and wanna know what you guys are catching them on if anyone fishes there. Also same for lake winward.
  18. Hello fishing peers, You can call me Regi or Jr.I go to college in Greensboro, NC.My mother stays in Riverdale,GA which is a little suburb. My dad stays in Goose Creek, SC.I am also from Gainesville, FL. I spend my time kind of split between these areas, especially the city areas. My dad was military so I've got to fish some good areas in the south. He started me fishing at the age of 2 and recently turned 21.I'm on my own now so I am still learning.I joined this site to soak up and learn knowledge/tips from you guys! I was wondering do guys in any of these locations know of fishing spots in these areas or around them.In GA,I've found a couple of spots in Fayette,Clayton, and Henry county since those areas are as far as I usually go.Atlanta has been hard for me to find spots since staying with my mom during college breaks in a city.In SC, I tend to mostly be in Goose Creek,Charleston,Walterboro area because of family. In NC, I've fished the Greensboro,Burlington,Fayetteville, and Jacksonville areas.Burlington I have had a lot of success. In FL,I know a lot of places in Gainesville,Williston,Chiefland,Bronson,Jacksonville.I mostly be in Gainesville or Williston in Florida due to family also.Fishing is a real passion of mine, hopefully I can share information and locations with you guys and vice versa. I apologize for this long post and I will try to learn the ins and outs of the forum.
  19. My husband I plan to vacation in Jekyll Island sometime next year. Are there any locations to fish for bass on the island?
  20. Hey guys me and my cousin are taking his new boat out on lake Varner in Covington Georgia. Anybody ever fished here? We could use some tips on what to use and where to go, thanks
  21. Hello everyone! I'm new to Bass Resource and have read a lot of the articles, and learned a ton but I still cant seem to catch a bass. Now that I'm 16 I can go whenever I want and now I'm really hooked on Bass fishing ( No pun intended ).I live in Columbus, Ga and I've gone to a few local small ponds and get nothing but old leaves, yet I know a bass has to be in there, I see brim and lots of minnows right on the bank of the pond. I have gone over to Chattahoochee river but you cant hardly fish there because the only public areas to fish that I know of are nearly impossible to fish because of the current with the new White Water course. I was wondering if there is anyone who lives near me and knows some good fishing spots(bank fishing) I can try, and what and I can try to use to catch a bass. I've tried just about everything... Spinnerbaits, Topwater baits, Weighted and Non weighted Fluke worms, Trick worms, Crankbaits, Jigs... just about everything. Even if you don't live in my area, any advice or tips you have to offer would be greatly appreciated!!
  22. Any of y'all been to Lake Lanier lately? I am probably going to try to hit it tomorrow and was looking for pointers
  23. I had been eyeing this lake for a while and heard some great things about it so I went this past Saturday to see for myself. I definitely see that is a haven for bass with good cover, structure, food source, etc. Only downside perhaps is that it's very small at 850 acres. It is an electric only lake, so I figured less pressure and good odds right? Well I had a late start and didn't get to the ramp until 8 am. When I arrive there are already about 40 trucks/trailers there. All day long it looked like a long train of boats just following down the same lines fishing the same spots all day, over and over. Is it possible to just over pressure and out-fish at that rate? I'm sure through the week it's a different story, but still seemed like a lot of people on this small body of water. Fished for 6 hours and not a fish in the boat (missed one on the motor oil/chartreuse finesse worm and missed a nice fish on the bone color Zara Spook Puppy). Granted i'm not a good gauge in terms of fishing success, but disappointing day to say the least. Does anyone else fish this lake and do you have a similar take or totally different in terms of pressure on this lake? Thanks!
  24. I have been lurking on the site for a little while and finally decided to post an intro. I love bass fishing, but I am not a pro by any means and i'm always looking to learn more and more about bass fishing. I'm 28 from Warner Robins, GA. I left and good ol' Uncle Same sent me right back here. I don't have a boat yet, but I'm looking. I hope to learn quite a bit here!
  25. Here is my dilema. I have been fishing Pond 1 at Fort Stewart, GA for a couple years now and have been unsuccessful at bringing up a fish over 4lbs. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but it's definately not working. I have beat the banks with everything and although I catch quanity I don't catch quality. It's not that there aren't quality fish in there, because there are. Look at Fort Stewart's fishing pictures if you don't believe me. Here's the setup. In the back of the lake is a shallow flat where I have caught a few pound to 2 pound fish but not as many as I catch in the front of the lakes. Mostly I catch the fish on a fluke near the grass beds, however I have caught them on everything else. There is hardly any deep water structure. There are a few tree's thrown in the water but they don't produce that many fish for some reason. When I throw a crankbait and try to make contact with the bottow of the lake it gets filled with slimy moss that kills the action on my crankbait. I am not sure how to approach this lake in regards to finding big fish. Any Ideas? I will attach a picture of the lakes layout.
