A few years ago, my brother my dad and i went fishing on a slow moving river in elkton va. My brother was in a canoe with a paddle and my dad and i were in our jon boat. We pretty much just fished within sight of each other all day, sometimes right behind each other. After all day of fishing, no one had a bite at all, not even a nibble. So we called it a day, headed for the dock disapointed. But my brother was determined to not give up. About 75 yards ahead of us he decided to let out about 30 yards of line and troll a top water bait behind him( a jitter bug ). So with his pole setting behind him, he was paddling away not paying attention. So we slowly brought the boat up beside his lure swimming in the water, and i reached down and grabed it and gave it a few good tugs and dropped it. He almost flipped the canoe trying to get to his pole. He reached behind himself with one arm and set the hook with all he had. When it was all done he was floating sideways in the canoe and the paddle was floating the water. He went on to tell us how he just missed a nice fish and if we saw it or not? I had to break it to him what i did, he laghed at first, then seemed a little upset. Ha...thinking back , it must have been heart breaking to miss a fish after you havent had a bite all day. And then u find out the fish didnt even exist! I dont know what i was thinking, if i had not dropped it in time, i might have 2 sets of hooks in my hand ! Ooooooo....that would leave a mark!
Anybody done anything like that before?
