  1. So I literally thought I had a big bass a few days ago at a public pond but it turns out I literally caught a rod/reel combo that I guess some monster pulled out of the hands of some unlucky guy lol. The reel was ruined and cheap but I now am the owner of a unblemished Abu Garcia Veritas spinning rod that retails for about $100. It cleaned up perfectly. It’s a 6’6” medium heavy/moderate fast spinning rod. Not sure what would be the best bait application for that type of rod. Any suggestions? Reel suggestions $100 and under? Thanks in advance.
  2. I have 2 fishing rods and was wondering if anyone new where I could get my guides inspected and repaired
  3. I bought a g Loomis demo rod nrx 873 from the hook up tackle and there in no g Loomis name on the reel seat and there is no Loomis fish logo on the rod itself any insight would be helpful
  4. Hello, I was wondering what could be a good fishing rod for a beginner under $100 for fishing bass?
  5. If you had better equipment, does that mean you catch more bass in general compared to someone who has lesser quality equipment (rod.reed)? With skill/lure/line/body of water being the same? $150 rod/reel set up vs $40 rod/reel set up. Very very curious if it matters at all. And if it does, how much? 5%? 10% more fish? Thank you!!! AND DONT FORGET TO VOTE!!
  6. Let's see what setup you got. I love this price range because I can actually afford it at the moment. HA HA. But this is the sweet sport for RODS AND REELS. So, let's see what you got? 11. Hello, I just watched mini series for bass fishing for beginners and read website articles and was about to purchase a rod. Question struck me. Can a rod be a two piece rod or is it a big no-no? Can it be more than a two piece? In addition I will be trying to learn to fish together with my 7 year old. What would be a two best different rods to get. Seems that for him I should get 5' light rod and for me 6.5' medium. Does that sound correct? I am going on a week vacation to a lake where I would like to try to fish for bass. I live near the ocean bay. Is there a way to buy a rod/s which will serve for both ocean bay (quite waters) and bass lake fishing?
  12. Hey guys, New to the forum but have been reading great threads with helpful information that past few weeks. Figured I would join and ask for some great advice myself! I am looking to pick up a new spinning reel for average largemouth fishing. I think I have decided on the Pflueger President 6930 over a Shimano based on price and recent quality reviews, and I am looking for an affordable rod. I came across an Ugly Stik 7' MH/F for $40 bucks and a free shirt lol Anyone have any experience or similar combos? I was told the 7' might be too big but I personally don't think so. Would I be better with a 6'6" M/F? I am currently using my old Shimano GR-X1200 my father gave me on a Berkley Graphite 6' but want to use this rod for trout and have a separate bass rod. Thanks! -Steve
  13. Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums as well as fishing. I have fished for the past few years, but this is the year I've been really getting into it. Right now I have a Med/Hvy Fast action rod. When I was trying to use crankbait for the first time a few days ago, it was way too light and wouldn't cast anywhere. Now, I was using 12# line, I'll get to that in a moment, but I was just wondering if I should use a sinker for the crankbait or should i buy a ultra-light or light rod for crank baits. Now for my line. I have a spool of 6# line and 12# line. When I was setting my reel up, i first used the 6# line, but for some reason I do not know of, it got all tangled up because it was very, very loose off my reel. It wasn't firm and secured as it should be so it got built up into a big tangle. So I had to switch to the 12# line because it wasn't loose off my reel. Anyone know what I am doing wrong that caused the tangle? Thanks everyone
  14. Hey everybody. Quick question. Is it possible to effectively fish using only one rod to consistently catch bass all year round? If so, please let me know what kind of rod and reel to use, and what technique(s) to use with it. If this isn't possible, then what would the minimum amount of rods be to consistently catch bass all year round? Any feedback or opinions REALLY helps me out since I am new to fishing. Thank you.
