  1. The time has come for the 2025 Fantasy Fishing season to begin. For those unfamiliar, we have been doing this for a few years now as a fun way to compete and have a little fun among all our members. Do you think you have what it takes to take home 1st place for the season? Group Name: BassResource Password: BR2025 We encourage all members to play along. Just pick your anglers prior to each BASS Elite event and share them (or don't) with the group. It's all part of the fun! Here is the link to the official website. https://bassmasterfantasy.com/
  2. Randomly, my spinning reel just started spinning backwards. It has no anti reversal switch for as far as I can see and it did not normally do this. Does anyone have any solutions to fix this?
  3. I plan on fishing the Hillsborough next week after Christmas. I've lived here my whole life and have never fished it. I wanna catch largemouth but kinda unfamiliar with the thing. Anybody ever go out there and fish it? What ramp would you suggest, I gotta 21' flats boat and should I go north or south? Is there anything I should be alert out there for? Will the water level be okay? Lastly, what works well out there? Thanks
  4. So a friend shot me a message today, he knew someone with "a bunch of rod building stuff" for sale and sent me some pictures. Low and behold there is an untouched PB731mhxf and a what appears to be partial built pb691mf in the mix Along with a what looks to be a very nice set of I think batson dream reamers, a dryer, wrapping station, and a bunch of other stuff that I'll definitely use. So I ask " how much?" He says "200", I say "sold" So here I sit pondering some things. The 6'9" point blank looks like it's got a Fuji sk2 casting seat on it. Not sure if it's just dry fit or if it's tight. So I wonder ? if it's glued up, can that stuff be removed without damaging the blank? How do I go about that? I suppose if it's more work than it's worth it it may make a decent jerkbait stick? Thoughts on this blank? Second, the 7'3mhxf. I've been doing some checking around and I think I could purpose it as my big jigs, frogs in slop, and very occasionally small swimbait rod. Thoughts on this blank?
  5. While many of us banglers spend the summer wishing we had a fancy boat to go out and search for schooling fish with some fancy side imaging, many of us miss out on some great opportunities to be had from the shore for some truly giant bass. Entailed is a step by step analysis of how to get more bites this summer fishing pressured public water that you can do owning one combo and 15$ in baits. you will need 1 fishing rod capable of throwing atleast a 1/2 oz jig ( you don’t have to use a trailer but it does up your chances of a catch while your mapping the bottom) 2 a 1/2 - 3/4 oz football jig maybe even 1 oz if you believe the water to be over 30 Ft deep 3 4/0 worm hooks and 1/4-3/8 oz bullet weights 4 a pack of your favorite plastics mine are midsize brush hogs / curly tail worms/ or rage bugs / rage craws / the original trick worm or squirrel tail worm pro tip if you have a dock or pier to fish off of make a couple cast under or around it. It stinks to see a 5 lber swim out from under a dock you walked on 1. grab a 1/2-3/4 oz football jig and slowly drag it along the bottom casting as far as you can. Eventually you will feel some cover in the deeper water make a mental note of about where you notice the most cover these will be your high percentage areas 2. Rig a non pegged Texas rig and pick a plastic I normally start with a creature style bait or curly tail worm 3 drag your Texas rig extremely slowly through your high percentage areas if you think your going slow slow down don’t be afraid to stroke or hop your plastics in the high percentage areas but be sure to pause after 4 if nothing bites your creature bait a shakeyheads squirrel or trick worm can work well for finicky fish 5 catch some monsters my pb of 9lbs 9 oz came off of this exact technique on a full size brush hog with a slightly smaller 9lb 1 oz as well on a public lake this technique can be deadly around points witch most boat launches atleast on my lake are situated near but in the heat of the summer when the fish move deep during the day this can be an Awesome way to catch fish at cookouts and Picnics I hope this helps some of you bankers this summer hook into some giant fish it is really helpful when you go somewhere you have never fished before and can teach you some new techniques besides a wacky senko. This even offers the opportunity of lucking into a school and catching a monsterous amount of fish.
  6. Hey guys, I'm looking for a solid and versatile reel for my punching set up, any suggestions? Specifically, I'm ONLY interested in a baitcasting reel that has a "flipping switch". These seem to be impossible to find, but an example of a reel with a flipping switch is the Lew's Super Duty G. Also, I heard that Abu Garcia's black max and silver max have them in specific models. Please help me and list some suggestions, I've scoured the internet and can't find many options. Finding a reel with a flipping switch is my main concern. What do you guys know (P.S. This is unimportant but im throwing it on a 7'3 Okuma Scott Martin Signature TCS Casting Rod Heavy, Fast action because I like the way Scott martin fishes and I'm using it in a kayak so i can't really work a legit 7'11 Ex Heavy flippin stick.) What are the best baitcasters with a flipping switch option? Idc if it's $20 or $400 Thanks!!!!!!
  7. Are there any good replacements for Cabelas Guidewear GX2 Button Shirts? I knew I should've stocked up before. Now thanks to BPS, all the good Cabela's brand clothes are gone. How well do the shirts below compare? Are the shoulder blade areas mesh vented? How are the pockets? Are they flat, or do they puff out giving more room? Is the shirt materials light & soft? Or are they heavy and rough? https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/redhead-solid-tourney-short-sleeve-shirt-for-men https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/columbia-bahama-ii-long-sleeve-shirt-with-omni-shade-for-men https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/columbia-pfg-bahama-ii-shirt-for-men https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/world-wide-sportsman-nylon-angler-20-short-sleeve-shirt-for-men https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/columbia-tamiami-ii-short-sleeve-shirt-for-men https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/redhead-tourney-trail-plaid-short-sleeve-shirt-for-men Are any of those decent replacements for the Cabelas Guidewear or GX2 Button Shirts? Do other websites gave anything like the Cabelas Guidewear or GX2 Button Shirts? Which ones?
  8. Hey all, I’m in the market for a smaller fishing kayak. Right now I have a kayak that’s around 100lbs and definitely takes me and a buddy to lug it around. I don’t stand much when I’m out on the water so I don’t need to be able to stand much. However, I would like it to be stable so if I sway side to side on it or lean to one side in the water trying to grab a fish, it won’t roll and will be sturdy. Anything under 12ft is what I’m targeting, light and fast in open water. Also will be using a 3.5lb anchor if that makes any difference. One I have been looking at is the Brooklyn kayak fk285. It is only 9 feet 2 inches which for some reason scares me. But I’m intrigued by the hatch right in front of the seat and the 3 rod holders with one being adjustable right in front of you. Don’t need any hook ups for fish finder or anything either. Just some rod holders and storage are fine with me Any suggestions?
  9. Hello, I’m having problems With my reel I spooled it up with mono backing to my braid and everything is working just fine now thank you everyone for the help, now when I tighten my reels drag star when I pull the line out it’s making like a loud almost screeching sound while I pull the line out only on the tight drag setting now the low drag, it’s a lews speed spool and just has the standard magnetic breaks please feel free to leave your suggestions bellow thanks Marcus.
  10. Hello I’m new to the forums and looking for help. When I’m spooling my baitcater reel after I’m done half the line is tangled or knotted in its self and when I’m pulling it back it’s almost like the line is peeling out from like the back opposite side of the baitcaster reel. It is only doing this for braid I spooled up a reel yesterday with fluorocarbon and it was super easy. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent this thx Marcus.
  11. Dumb question but I'm upgrading to a medium heavy fast action rod from a medium fast action rod and it seems alot more beefy, just wondering if it'll have any effect over feeling a fish biting.. Thanks
  12. I have recently bought a 10ft plastic boat. I got it for extremely cheap and when I got home I discovered duct tape on the front. The hole is very small and seems possible to fix but I have no experience in this topic. I attached a photo of the damage. What would be my best bet in fixing this if it’s possible. I have some marine hoop laying around and have also gotten advice to bondo it.. would either of these work or is there something else to try? Any help would be appreciated, thanks
