  1. I am look for the least expensive 1 pc rod and a reel combo that work like an expensive one would please message me and let me know
  2. Hi eveyone just wanted to know, Whats your favorite rod or reel?
  3. Although a native to the swamps and bayous of Louisiana (hence the name), I have been in and around Georgia, particularly Atlanta, for quite some time, and for my own personal reference as well as that of others in the Bass Fishing community, would like to compile a list of some pretty decent fishing spots IN and around the Atlanta area. There are a few spots in the Atlanta area, and a lot of small lakes and pond south of Atlanta in the Fairburn and Fayetteville areas. Here are a few spots I have been able to either fish in personally, or know of from other fisherman that have pretty decent Bass fishing. Feel free to share any information on any places in Atlanta you may know about. 1) Clarence - Duncan Park (Fairburn, GA) I used to play tennis at this park in the late 90's, and did not associate it with fishing until recently. A trusted source and fellow fisherman shared with me that park restocked the pond a few years back and now has a decent Largemouth population. It IS a small area, and is certainly more suited for off the bank fishing, and nothing extensive, although from what I understand it is actually much deeper than it appears. 2) 3 Hole Golf Course (Tyrone, GA) I have not had the chance to fish this Lake personally, but again it is recommended by a trusted source and respected fisherman. Supposedly this Lake holds Bass, Bream, Sacalait (Crappie) and Smallmouth as well. 3) "Hidden Lake" (East Point area) Due to some pending circumstances I can reveal the 'actual' name of this Lake as it not technically open to the public, but neither fully private. (if you are interested in fishing it contact me for details) This Lake is currently my favorite place to go because it is relatively secluded and holds Largemouth, Smallmouth, Crappie, Bluegill, Redear, Catfish and some HUGE Carp! Due to the 'undefined' zoning of this Lake I feel it may only be a matter of time before it is shut down completely and sold to some one who probably wouldn't know a Zara Spook if it hooked them in the nose. But for the meantime, it is a great place to catch some Bass. The average size I catch are between 3 - 6lbs but I have seen others pull a few 8 - 12lbs out too. If anyone is interested in fishing this hidden gem in the South West Atlanta area, just message me privately and I will be glad to fill you in on the particulars. 4) Twin Lakes (Fulton County) Nice from what I have heard, never been. Probably worth a try though as nearly ALL the small Lakes and pond in this area contain a decent Bass population, unless they lack a healthy prey fish population. 5) Twin Bridges (Lawrenceville, GA) Cost $10 to fish, but supposedly does have a few Bass and Catfish. Looks like more of a 'family fishing' spot, and not a real avid angler type of a spot. But hey...where there is water.... ...... more will be posted as I acquire more 'hands on' information on them. Thanks, enjoy.
  4. Hey guys, I'm looking for a solid and versatile reel for my punching set up, any suggestions? Specifically, I'm ONLY interested in a baitcasting reel that has a "flipping switch". These seem to be impossible to find, but an example of a reel with a flipping switch is the Lew's Super Duty G. Also, I heard that Abu Garcia's black max and silver max have them in specific models. Please help me and list some suggestions, I've scoured the internet and can't find many options. Finding a reel with a flipping switch is my main concern. What do you guys know (P.S. This is unimportant but im throwing it on a 7'3 Okuma Scott Martin Signature TCS Casting Rod Heavy, Fast action because I like the way Scott martin fishes and I'm using it in a kayak so i can't really work a legit 7'11 Ex Heavy flippin stick.) What are the best baitcasters with a flipping switch option? Idc if it's $20 or $400 Thanks!!!!!!
  5. This spring break I will be going to lake anna for a few nights march 28th through the 31st. I will be staying on the private side on dyke three. I have gone before but not this time of year. What lures work best and are the bass going to be post spawn since it’ll be on the warm side. I will have my boat so I can go to different places on the lake any recommendations? Also my buddy is coming and he is bringing his boat if we did a little friendly tournament and put the fish in the live well for a few hours and let them go at the end would this effect the fish? if they are post/ pre/ or during the spawn. Thanks
  6. I have recently bought a 10ft plastic boat. I got it for extremely cheap and when I got home I discovered duct tape on the front. The hole is very small and seems possible to fix but I have no experience in this topic. I attached a photo of the damage. What would be my best bet in fixing this if it’s possible. I have some marine hoop laying around and have also gotten advice to bondo it.. would either of these work or is there something else to try? Any help would be appreciated, thanks
  7. Hi everyone I have an issue with a brand new Lew's bait caster combo. I purchased a few months ago and decided to set it up this morning. The issue I'm having is that when I install the new line after about 20 turns I notice a drag, tightness of the spool with some resistance. I thought I had some lines between the spool and the shaft because of the resistance but when I opened the side plate and half way pulled the spool out I noticed it was clear. I closed it back up and removed all the line. I inspected the reel and the reel functions correctly with no drag, no grinding, no resistance. So I started to put the line back in and reeled it slowed and again after about 10 turns I started to feel the resistance. This time I removed the side plate cover thinking it was the drag and continued to reel and the resistance was still there. Has anyone had this issue? Can any one give me some advise?
  8. I don’t know if any one else has the problem I do I am good at bank fishing and shallow fishing i live in Huntington Texas about ten miles from lake Sam Rayburn one of the biggest lakes in Texas but i fish it all the time how ever I don’t really know how to fish in deep water and target big fish also there is only large mouth in the lake so if anyone has any info on what baits I could use and what I need to do to successfully fish deep.
  9. A buddy of mine was bank fishing a small pond near his home that is located right next to a big reservoir. The reservoir is a state water supply that is strictly no fishing, boating or any other kind of use really. The pond is fair game. He came upon 2 vultures standing over this fish (or what used to be a fish). There was another one almost identical to it about 20 feet away. We can’t really tell if this is just a really big bass or what it might have been. Any thoughts? Really curious to see what some of you may think it could have been. The reservoir is in Rhode Island.

  11. What carp bait works in the US the best? People say that boiles don't work here as they do in Europe. I tried sweet corn but it doesn't work. Also, I tried dough bait with strawberry jello and it didn't work as well. The only bait that works well is quick greats+white bread+creamed corn. If you know other carp bait and it's known to be working please share it here.
  12. I have not used swimming frogs much in the last couple years. I watched a video of a 9 pound bass clobbering a moving topwater frog. Then I thought of a combo I could dedicate to moving frogs only. I found a 5 or 6/0 frog hook, and rigged it with a z-man frog that sinks. After 20 minutes I had gotten 4 hits. The first one hit it on the fall before I could start reeling in. Missed on the hook set. 2nd fish hit as I started reeling in after I saw the wake of the fish closing in. Good fish. Gave him an extra second and popped him. Had him hooked for a couple seconds and he came off. Caught the 3rd fish that hit on top as I pulled it over a clump of grass. Dink sized fish. 4th fish slammed it as it hit the water and let go before I could set. I have always had problems hooking fish with plastic frogs. The fish love em, but the hook up rate stinks. I have made sure the hook point and barb is out of the frog and that helps some, but there must be a better way. What do y'all do ?
  13. Hi! This fish is from southern Ontario, possibly a Golden Shiner. I need help identifying it but I’m stuck! Would any of you fish experts know? It’s a cold water fish!
  14. Just wondering if anyone has caught or seen any other rare and interesting kinds of bass. We caught an orange largemouth recently in Ohio, caught and released in a pond. I know on rare occasion people find albino bass or ones with dark spots and deformities, so have any of you found any or know anyone who has? Interested to know what all is hiding out there.
  15. Does anyone have any advice on how to target these fish with a rod and reel? I have researched until my eyes bled without finding anything of substance. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
  16. For lack of better words, can someone please explain Line Capacity/Test as if you were teaching a child! I've read many posts on the subject but there's so much fisherman jargon and technical terms that I'm a tad confused. I'm new to fishing in regards to finally purchasing my own tackle, rather then just showing up to the lake/ocean and fishing with a buddy's gear. As an example, I got an amazing deal on a few highend rods and one of the reels I purchased new and nearly free, was a Chronarch 200e7. The specs on the box read: Nylon Mono / lb. (yds.) -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) PowerPro Braided -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Nylon Mono -- 8(180) • 10(155) • 14(110) Fil Tresse PowerPro -- 30(190) • 50(120) • 65(80) Lol, I'm so confused! Help, please! I'm looking to purchase a Mono, Braided, and Fluorocarbon Line but I don't know what I'm suppose to purchase for this particular reel or the others for that matter.

  18. I'm gonna be moving here shortly to Florida, and i've gained quite the arsonal of freshwater lures, which i'd like not to go to waste. Can i use my freshwater lures in saltwater? Will they work? If so which ones?
  19. Hello Bass Resource Fishing Community! This is my first post and I would love to hear some of your favorite smallmouth bass fishing lures to use in Rivers? Thanks for reading and feedback. Have a great day.
  20. Hey All! new to the site. looking to make an addition to my stable of baitcasters (currently only one lol). Price range is flexible but shooting for 300-400ish. Was hoping I could list my rods/ reel combos then get some tips to compliment my current gear. 6'6" St. Croix premiere MF spinning rod with shimano reel, and 7' MF *** baitcaster with a lews reel. I'm thinking of a 7'2" or 7'3" MH-F for jigs and maybe t-rigs? I really have had success fish with Senkos but I think my 7 footer might be plenty good for that. I'm looking for rod/ reel suggestions so the more the merrier!
  21. One of the most talked about lures out right now is the Whopper Plopper. Originally a Muskie lure, it is now available in Bass sizes because of their success. At a pricey $16 a piece, I am considering trying them out. They look really cool and the action is impressive. Rumor is that they catch big fish. What is your take on the Whopper Plopper? does anyone catch big bass on them? What colors are best? Thanks for reading. Fish on!
  22. Hi everyone, Just started fishing at a new lake called Lake Chabot in the Oakland area and was wondering what you guys have had success on in that lake specifically or if you have any tips when fishing a new lake. It is a relatively large lake with deepish water in certain areas. Stocked with trout but has bass and catfish as well. Thanks for the help!
  23. Hey guys, my name is Daniel Brennan and I live in Macon, Ga. I'm obviously new lol. I recently got back into fishing big time over the past year and currently need help rebuilding tackle and realllly need some places to fish, if anyone knows of any privates ponds or lakes they wouldn't mind me using, that'd be freaking awesome. I am a Afghanistan war veteran and still serve the Georgia Army National Guard. Feel free to message me at 4789547758 about going fishing or any waters I can have access to! Good day gents
  24. Can someone tell me if this reel (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Abu-Garcia-Revo-STX-Spinning-Reel-REVO2STX10&i=912087) would be a good pair for this rod (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=St-Croix-Legend-Tournament-Bass-Casting-Rod-610-Medium-Light&i=451547) I really don't have time to check. Anything would be great. Also I'd appreciate any alternate suggestions.
  25. Hey guys, I am moving from Houston, Texas having fished Lake Conroe, Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend for the last few years. My new location will be in Palm City, Florida just east of Okeechobee. Okeechobee is going to be a whole new ball game for me. I would be very appreciative if someone could give me a breakdown of the BIG O and just how to get started. I guess my plan is to continue reading a bunch of articles and get to flipping when I get there. As always, THANKS GUYS!
