  1. what's up guys, basically I am conflicted between a 1000 and 2500 size reel... maybe even 2000 size but feel like might as well get the 2500 at that point. Anyway I don't fish spinning setups a ton but I'm wanting to get into it so I can take it to the creeks so for sure some smaller sun fish some rock bass and the occasional 2-3lb max smallmouth will be targeted as well. I just don't want having the 1000 to screw me out of a decent bass when it comes. going to put it on a 6'6 rod medium fast. wanting to use braid. thanks for anyone that has any advice.
  2. This is my 1st post and also1st bass over a couple of ounces. I'm sure it's a smallmouth??, caught from a small creek in Northern Delaware on a small rapala lure, air temp was low 50's. How big do you guys guess it was. Didn't measure or weigh it. Thanks in advance.
  3. I'm planning on floating from bent creek to JRSP and I was wondering if anybody had fished that stretch? If so, what lures did you throw? I was thinking of going with some inline spinners, 4 or 5 inch grubs, texas rigged worms, and maybe topwater....
  4. I was wondering what pound braided line I should use for my medium light spinning rod. I will be using this rod for finesse worm techniques but also will be using it in creeks for smallies and other small fish where i use in line spinners and small plastics. I was thinking either 10 pound or 15 pound, can anyone tell me if i throw strraight 10 pound braid if it will break easily if it gets snagged. Also wanted to know if bright yellow braid spooks the fish a considerable amount ( I mostly fish really muddy water) because I was thinking of getting some bbecause you can see it easily.
  5. I'm the hottest days of summer, smallmouth fishing is my life. In southern Wisconsin creeks and rivers have some of the best fishing, especially for Smallmouth. As the temp gets lower, so does the amount of fish. During fall the fishing is non existent. Not sure why other places smallmouth fishing is peaking in the fall, but plummeting for me
  6. Hi everyone. Been doing some kayak fishing trips with a few buddies recently and borrowing a kayak. I'm borrowing a Emotion Angler 11 sit-on-top. While I'm gracious my buddy lets me use his spare, it doesn't track at all and wears me out as I have to constantly be paddling. This also limits my fishing time as it's always going into spins as we drift. Short story long, I"m looking to invest in one of my own. Almost all of our trips are on small rivers that can get very shallow in spots, so the kayak has to be agile and buoyant with my 230lb 6'4" body plus gear (cooler, tackle, tent, spare clothes). We do long day trips that may cover 12-15 miles over a 10 hour day. The current kayak I'm using is killing me. I'd love to say I have $1200 to throw down on a kayak, but that would be a big stretch. I am a believer in buy once, cry once, so based on recommendations, I may have to wait to purchase something. I wish I could get out more, but I'd estimate 6 times this summer would probably be a stretch, just due to time. I've been on ACK but not sure what can fill all my needs for capacity, weight, comfort and maneuverability in shallow/windy rivers. Thanks for your assistance.
  7. Does anyone know of any creeks near the Fort Smith area? Looking for new places to catch some fish!
  8. Today I decided to try microfishing. What a fun! I chought about 25-30 fish! Sure, as the name "microfishing" suggests it's not a huge fish but it's a lot of fun. Here are few of the fish I couldn't identify. Who knows what species are these?
  9. I'm glad i found this site and am looking forward to learning about the local creeks and rivers. I'm a bass-man who grew up fishing the rocky rivers and creeks of southern Missouri. I'm fully addicted to smallmouth bass and i've heard the shoal bass is similar. I moved here for work, so i don't have any fishing connections yet. Hopefully enrolling on here will fix that. I'd like to find someone who's needing a fishing buddy to go wading for bass. I'm eager to find some good rivers/access points that are good for wading. I like to cover a lot of water so spots without long, deep (impassable) pools would be ideal. If anyone has any suggestions, i'd greatly appreciate it. Also, i'm up in the Roswell/Alpharetta area but am more than willing to drive as far as i need to. Thanks in advance for any tips and/or invitations!
  10. My buddy and I went out and fished two days last week on a little creek that runs near the Delaware/Maryland line. Caught probably 25-30 fish over the two days, mainly dinks, but there are big fish to be had. Largest thing we caught was a decent sized Chain Pickerel. Fishing was best in the morning, and the bites turned difficult very quickly when the sun came up and the temperature jumped over 90 before noon. Threw an assortment of baits, caught mainly on Green Pumpkin/Amber, Black/Blue fleck, and Blood Worm colored Senkos. Got my first chance to try out my Live Target Bait Ball, and Poppin' Frog. No luck on the frog, but the bait ball caught 3 small perch...the bait was fatter than they were, but hey, it caught fish on its maiden voyage haha. Typical Delaware fishing, nothing excitingly large, but plenty of dinks. Picture of my buddy with his big catch of the day (only had one cell phone on us, and I was too lazy to unlock my phone to have him take pictures of my fish. I'll be sure to post some of mine next time):
  11. Went to a river close by to do some trout fishing. Was drifting a wooly bugger fly under a float, right on a transition between very fast water and still water. Float shoots down, and I set into a nice rainbow. a minute later, I had him unhooked and was holding him up for a picture, and he almost flopped right into my shirt. Guess he was camera shy... About a half hour later, I hooked another rainbow, about the exact same size as the first, in the exact same spot. This time, I was drifting a 2" power minnow below a float. Got this one in, and he was a lot calmer. Next fish came 10 mins later, when as I was reeling in my rig to make another drift, a baby brown trout SLAMS my power minnow. Thinking it is a big rainbow, I set the hook hard, and he comes in relatively easy, only to come off right at my feet (I was wading). Next, I tied on a 1/16oz pink jighead with a 1" pink tube, trying to get into some browns in the still water. Pitched right up against the current line where I caught the 3 trout, and get slammed by none other than.... Mr Largemouth! I didn't even know that there were largemouth in the river! Was only about 1/2lb, but was all beat up,with a torn tail and fins, and a big scar down his side. Last fish came on the last drift of the day, this time on an egg pattern fly. Another baby brown, again, comes off right at my feet. Didn't catch a whole lot, but the rainbows were beautiful, and the bass was a nice surprise. Great couple hours down at the river.
  12. Howdy guys! A friend and I went fishing Gibbons Creek Reservoir this past weekend (Friday and Saturday), and I decided to get a little early spring fishing report out about it. Overall, the fishing was very slow, we only landed about 9 fish over the two days (with a couple others that threw the hook before we got them in the boat). It was very windy both days, with sustained winds about 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. Early in day one, my friend landed a very nice largemouth that we ballparked around 8 lbs (scale's battery was dead). That really got our hopes up, but it would be the biggest fish of our trip by far. That big one was caught with a T-rigged trick worm, but for the most part we couldn't get bites on plastics. As for quantity of bites, spinnerbaits did the best for us (chartreuse and orange/white). Crankbaits also caught a couple fish. As a whole, this weekend was more of an example why the sport is called 'fishing' rather than 'catching'. However, a slow day on the water beats any day sitting at home! It was also disappointed that half of the lake was very difficult because of stumps just below the surface of the water. We didn't even try to get back there because we didn't want to risk damaging the boat.
  13. What is that one small creek, pond, drainage pool or others, that has surprisingly produced bass? On the outskirts of this large lake there are small drainage rivers coming out of the lake. I once fished these shallow bodies of water and they produced lunkers! Biggest was 22 in long and 6 lbs heavy. Share yours! Also, i saw this video of a guy fishing a small stream to only find a big fish! Its pretty cool, watch:
  14. Hey Yall, Im new to this site so just wantin to start out by sayin howdy. Anyways, I know its a little early to be askin this but any of yall have any experience fishing in Flint Creek in Oklahoma/Arkansas? I headed there in March or April and Im wantin to learn as much as I can to catch a lot of fish. Even give me any info that you have found fishin places like this. Its a river with some fast moving areas and slow moving areas with very, very clear water. I have fished there once before and my buds and me caught some smallies and largemouth that were small but fought pretty good. there are oxbows, weedbeds, waterfalls, rapids for features. Any tips or techniques? Im the kinda teenager savin up for a truck so I only have a 7 foot medium heavy rod with a 6.4 to 1 gear ratio baitcaster and a 6 foot 6 medium action rod with a spinner reel on it. Thanks for Anything and I Hope to Talk To Yall More, Christian
