  1. Has anyone had experience rigging any kind of hard bait (jerk bait or crank bait) on a Carolina Rig? Share any tips please.
  2. Coming from a trout background using flies and inline spinners I've never had use for terminal loop knots. Now that I'm learning to fish for bass and crappie I do. (Admittedly there is a loop not used for dry flies but I never learned it or used it.) Are there more than one of these loop knots? Are any of them more reliable than others? I look forward to your replies and learning how to tie a loop knot.
  3. Here is the bait that I need help with. Any ideas on who makes it or any baits similar to it? Image should be attached. TIA
  4. rattle: I like using a squarebill crankbait that dives to about 4 feet and have always wondered if they are better with or without the rattle. I personally prefer the rattle, but i've noticed that most come without rattle, even some of the more expensive $20+ models. Is a silent crankbait preferred. I am sure there are situations where one works better than the other and it all depends on fish attitude. But what I am really trying to understand is which is intended setup and if I only had one with me, which would be best to have. bait: I've been using a strike king kvd 4s pro model with trokar hooks and builtin rattle. How does this crank compare to others? hooks: The 4s comes with trokar hooks, that I seem to loose a few fish on until I tried other hooks. Do you think this is just in my mind, or are the stock trokar hooks not that good? line: Here's one I am really curious about. How much better is fluorocarbon over braid? Does fluorocarbon invisibility really increase bite counts?

  6. Does anyone know where i can get a bomber "FAT A" crank bait for as cheap as possible? i've found some on ebay but the price is kinda stiff on them. i just want to do some bargin hunting before i break down and get it there.
  7. The wife knows! I’m addicted During post spawn, I was fishing with a Shakespeare graphite spinning reel combo and while casting on the bank, my immediate thought was dang, I’m hung again. Needless to say that I was not hung, there was a fish on the hook (never felt him bite). After reading on the forums, I read about better quality rods and I immediately went to BP and purchased St Croix Premier 7’ M/ fast action graphite rod w/ Shimano Sahara 2500FE 6.2:1 reel. I added 12lb fluorocarbon line I would like to mainly use this rod for crank bait, swim bait and top water St. Croix Premier 7’ MH/fast action graphite rod with a Pflueger Supreme 6.2:1. I also added 12lb fluorocarbon line I would like to mainly use this rod for Carolina Rigging , Spinner bait and Jigs After reading several post, I realized that I need to change the fishing line on the medium rod (used for crank bait) from fluoro to mono. I read on the post that fluorocarbon line does not sink and then I read that it does sink. Will someone please clarify that because my chug bug goes underwater? Can someone give some recommendation on a quality mono (no braid please) that will work for an OK setup? Do I need to swap my reels and place the Shimano Sahara on the MH rod? Are there any other recommendations on my setup (besides buying a bait caster)? I will probably buy another set up in the future (been looking at the 7’ Duckett Micro Magic) but until then I want to learn to properly use the set up in place. Thanks in Advance. I have learned from the videos and reading on the site but I still a lot to learn. Keep posting guys!!
  8. I inherited a shoebox fill of lures, in line spinners and rapala 01 to 08, and would like to use them. There is a variety of types...sinking, countdown, floating jointed and non jointed, x-rap, husky jerk, minnow rap, all about 1/8oz and in line spinners 1/16 oz to 1/4 oz. Also top water jitterbugs and poppers. I'll be using a spinning reel ML (buying this rod this weekend) 6 lb line to start and from the bank. I was just going to spend the day trying a bunch of stuff but this forum has been great so maybe I'll do better with some suggestions? I have firebait and roboworms too but just hate to have all these lures just sitting here.
  9. Has somebody try this crank bait out. If so how is it. Be on the fence about trying one.
