  1. Hey y'all, I just went to a local purveyor of kayaks with my heart set on a Native Slayer 12 Pro. It's marked down to $1100 from around $1370. Pretty sweet kayak. Seating and other features seem great. Materials are fine. Not really any dry storage - bow storage isn't exactly water-tight (not a deal breaker). Asked, on a whim, to see a Bonafide RS117 because it had comparable features at first glance... Actually, materials are better. Metal in place of plastic and the design seems a bit more stable. I primarily fish medium-sized lakes and prairie potholes and smaller rivers and streams (The Milwaukee River is the largest I fish). I want to be able to stand and fish for prolonged periods of time and still be able to handle some moderate river fishing. The Bonafide is $100 cheaper and seems like more boat, honestly. I'll be test-paddling both in two weeks. But before I do, I thought I'd ask y'all. What do you think? ~Juice
  2. Okay so I know the bait you're using is really important but my question is how do you know which bait to use if they are similar. In my arsenal of baits I have a lot of different soft plastics and when I'm trying to fish slowly on the bottom I normally go off of color but does the bait actually matter? Like if I am throwing a texas rig what is going to decide whether I tie up a craw or ribbon tail. And when I do fish slow What is the difference of fishing a fitness worm, jig, or any slow moving bait, if the color matches and sizes is it just personal opinion or is there better times to throw a craw over a worm and so on?
  3. I've given up on Google search and decided to join the community here because of the extensive knowledge. I've been fishing ever since I could walk, but have only used med. lite 6'6" fast action spinning rods my whole life. Although they're fairly universal rods, I've just recent gotten into tournament fishing and may need an extra advantage on getting the fish in the boat. I think a lot of tourney anglers have too many rods, so I want to limit myself to several rods with specific purposes (skipping, flipping/pitching, crankbait/spinnerbait, etc.). If you had to choose 5 rods or less to cover the broad spectrum of presentations, what would they be? (Action, blank, length, etc.) Ideally, I'd like every rod to be spinning except for the flipping/skipping pole. Thanks, Tate.
