1. Hi Everyone, I’ve read some of the posts on here and I’d be interested in getting a bass boat in the next few years. Starting to gather info about it now so that I’m ready by the time I decide to pull the trigger. I’m not looking for somethings super fancy with all the bells and whistles. Just something to get me started on the water by myself with the basics and that I can customize with electronics down the road. Would like to stick with the boat for a while so quality and durability matter. Here’s some other info that might help with suggestions: - I tournament fish as a co-angler a good amount throughout the year mainly in WI and IL lakes/rivers. - Would be nice to be able to use my boat in tournaments eventually once I build up enough experience fishing as a co-angler - Bodies of water I fish are anywhere around 2,000 to 10,000 acres. Size is relative but I’d say they’re smaller to medium-sized natural lakes. Not like I’m fishing the great lakes but would be nice if it could handle the crazy pleasure boater wakes since it’s tight quarters at times. - Need to fit myself and another person comfortably while we’re fishing. - Nothing super big but preferably not tiny either. I have a small SUV that I’m sticking with for a while so would probably need to get a hitch installed. Let me know if there’s any other info that might help give suggestions. Again, I’m not in a hurry to get a boat. Just seeing my options for the near future! Appreciate any advice! Umair
2. I have an older (circa 1980's) Marlin fiberglass boat, w/ a 90HP Evinrude (2 stroke, carbureted on it. It was built as a ski boat, so I pulled the seats out and replaced them with pedestal's for fishing. I am needing a new engine. I am wondering if I shouldn't get a 75 HP to replace the 90. I do not ski, and have no great need for maximum speed. And the 75 will save me about $600 over the 90 horse. The 90 pushes me along at about 30 mph, which is more than enough. 20 or 25 mph would be fine by me. I am thinking the 75 will still bring it up on plane quickly, and probably be better for trolling on the few big lakes I fish. I almost always fish alone, and have minimal weight in the boat. In addition, I am going to 4 stroke EFI. I use a 14' alum skiff for the smaller lakes, or a canoe. The majority of lakes I fish are 40 - 600 acres. We have very few or the vast reservoir's a lot of you guys fish, so I rarely run more than 30 minutes to a fishing spot. Do any of you guys have some insight into this?
3. Is there anywhere in NY where I can rent a bass boat for lets say 2 weeks and take it wherever I want and then bring it back to the same place when I am done? We are going on a large trip in August and buddy's boat is out of commission until September and we need a boat. Also do Bass Pro or Cabelas rent out boats as well? Thanks to whoever answers.
4. What's up, I have been thinking about buying a kayak ($1,000-$2,000). I am curious If there are any websites/stores to purchase old or used kayaks. I know some stores carry previous year model kayaks and sell them for a bargain, but I am having a hard time finding them. Is there a website? I know Facebook market place has them, but I really could use y'alls help. Appreciate it, AJK
5. I have been looking for a used boat for months in the Midwest. I have been on craigslist, FB marketplace, ebay, dealer websites and everything else I can think of on nearly a daily basis. I cannot seem to find a boat within my price range that does not get sold in a day or is less than 500+ miles away. Does anyone know of any other ways of finding for sale by owner boats for sale? What I am looking for, should be the standard bass boat that is for sale but has been a huge process to get one located. (Fiberglass, 150 HP, 18-20 ft, 2000 and newer and under 20K). I need to get one purchased asap. Any info would be much appreciated.

I am planning a trip to Flagler Beach in April. Looking at fishing Lake George, Crescent Lake, and others in that area. I have never fished FL and was wondering if the salt content is an issue in the these lakes? Should I flush the motor after each trip... Gambler Intimidator with 2017 200 Merc.
7. Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on these boats. Currently I am using/borrowing my brothers 14ft flat bottom john boat but want to get a boat of my own. We put the decks, carpet, rebuilt the outboard etc, so I am not afraid to a little work. I dont plan on doing any major tournaments maybe just a few small club run ones. I fish in the Occoquan reservior 99.9% of the time with the occasional trip to the Occoquan River. The max hp for the reservoir is 9.9 and the majority of the river is a no wake zone so motor size isnt really an issue. Any input would be great! Thanks!
8. Hey bassresource gang how's it going? I need help. I'm trying to figure out which boat I should buy to take my boys out with but not too familiar with all the brands to be honest but I think I've found some good ones and I'd like someone's opinion on which boat to buy. I was looking around on Ebay and narrowed the list down to these 3 here : 1973 LUHRS. 27.2 Ft ENCLOSED CABIN. BOAT WILL NEED 1 PROP. TWIN 302 FORD MOTORS (RATED AT 180HP EACH). 1995 Sea Ray Sundancer 26 ft. Bravo 3 Comes with cabin boat, bathroom w/shower;sink,fridge,dual fuel stove, aft. cabin; new upholstery in cockpit area. Comes with EZ loader roller trailer with electric hoist. 2002 Sea Ray, Sundancer 260 Comes with a 2 feet swim platform. Boat is in fair condition. Needs cleaning from being dry docked at the marina. 250.9 hours on the engine. Seller says replaced hot water heater 3 years ago. Stove, microwave, and refrigerator. 6667 lbs dry weight. Trailer not included. So if anyone knows a little bit about these 3 boats here PLEASE let me know. Thanks
9. Anyone know any good places (websites or physical vendors) to buy a used bass boat for a reasonable price (preferably less than $25,000 can be aluminum or fiberglass)? I'm on the Southwest side of Houston (Richmond/Rosenberg area) if you have a request for physical vender. Thanks guys
10. has anyone heard or know anything about these boats it appears they will be unveiled at the classic expo this year? http://vexusboats.com/
11. I'm interested in getting my first fishing boat. ATM I don't have the means to store or transport a regular boar or kayak. So I was planning on getting a inflatable boat for now. I have looked around and found a few that interest me. It would be great if I could get some opinions on their reliability. Which one of these inflatable boats would be ideal for me? 6'2" 250lbs I plan on using it on small lake and ponds. 12. Ok so need some feedback on this and thoughts pro and con. So I live in south Jersey and I'm looking to buy a boat. I want something I can take into the Delaware river around Philly and go for Striper in the Spring and Fall. I also want to be able to go after Bass in the Big D and also local rivers and lakes as well as some Musky fishing. As far as I see I am really getting focused on the ZV-21 Nitro as it seems to check a lot of the boxes for what I want to do also the 9.9hp kicker would allow me to take it into lakes like Union and a lot of others that are HP restricted. Also does anybody think it might be able to handle further south in the Delaware down to the salt line and maybe below it? Thanks are given in advance.
13. Need advice on if I should install a boat launch and if it will be worth it. I recently inherited a 5 acres property with a beautiful house sitting on over 250 feet of river front off of the Coosa River in Alabama. Here's the problem, the city boat launch is about 20 minutes away from the house by road, and the banks to the river are extremely steep rising 10 to 15 feet above the river. Is it worth the money to install a ramp or some sort of winch system for a boat (Bass Boat or Pontoon Boat) for the convenience of not having to always drive down to the city launch? Would it help the resell of the property to a fishing enthusiast if it is installed? What kind of system should I be looking at if I did install it? It's hard to tell how steep the bank is from the picture, but hoping you all would have some insights and recommendations. Thanks in advance and happy fishing.
14. In mid-November, I sold my 1998 16-foot Xpress with a 60-HP Yamaha and bought a 1998 Triton TR19 with a 175 HP Mariner EFI. I've had it out 5-6 times and enjoyed the ride and roominess plus the faster speed but last time I had it out, the trim went out as I was about to load it. It would go down but not up. We think it's the wiring harness and the relay. I've ordered the part to replace it ($150). Now I'm wondering. Am I going to have ongoing expense and issues like this? Did I mess up by trading up to this boat? I've even thought about trying to sell it and trying to find an 18-foot aluminum boat. It's a nice boat. I just want ease of use and to be able to hook up and fish when I want with minimal expense and maintenance issues.
15.
I was watching a video on YouTube on modifying a transom mount motor to work as a bow mount motor by opening up the head of the motor and rotating the prop so it was backwards and then just attaching it to the bow. But I was wondering if it would be possible to reverse a foot control bow mount to be used on the back of a kayak. Now while I do not personally own a bow mount motor I was hoping that someone out there who did could tell me if my idea was possible.

18. I hopeful that within the next two years I will be the proud owner of a boat, however I am just starting preliminary research. Does anyone know what the best boat warranties typically are? Ranger seems a bit short ranging from 5-1 years depending on item of defect, is this a typical warranty? I am looking at Aluminum boats, especially since this will be my first boat ever, I feel as if I will be better protected from accidental damage.
19. Hello! I am curious about what people think of electric outboard motors on this forum! Do you like them? Are they the next trend for us (fisherman)? What if there was a way that we could navigate our boats with our smartphones? I personally think it is a pretty neat idea because then we could just plot our course and do our prepping while our boat drives us to our favorite fishing spot! If you could please share your thoughts with me, I'd appreciate it!! Thanks and have a wonderful day!! Steph
20. Forgive me if this topic is a repeat. I've searched Forums as best I can and came up short, so if you know of a good topic on this subject please post a link for me. I've just purchased the Lowrance HDS-7 Gen 2 with Structure Scan and I'm planning my installation. I'll be using my boat (when i get it back) on the Potomac River which has, from time-to-time, a lot of flotsam or other things to hit. I don't want to install the LSS2 transducer where it can be hit and damaged. So my question is "where do you believe is the best location for the Trans on the rear of my "Step Back" Ranger? I don't have a jack plate, my Mercury 150 EFI is mounted directly to the transom. Here are some options from the installation manuals. Here is another option.... I just don't have a good understanding of the bubble turbulence in the transom area at low speeds on the Ranger.
21. Hey guys, I'm leaning real heavy toward buying a boat...an 18-21 ft John Boat w/40-50hp motor & trolling motor...the problem is; I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SWIM! My wife is headed into "nuclear melt-down mode"...and can't stop squalling about me taking swimming lessons, wearing 3 life preservers , or fishing in 8 inches of water! lol I have been out on boats many times, I can safely operate them and I am not afraid of the water....and I ALWAYS wear a life jacket. I fish swallow water 1-6 ft 95% of the time...should I heed her warnings or is knowing how to swim a prerequisite to being a safe boat owner? I just can't stomach all my old bank fishing spots all grown up, locked up or having to drive ungodly miles just to be able to cast into decent water.... How many guy do you know that have & operate boats that can't swim? Thanks Reggie.....p.s....I think she just upped the insurance on me by a $100K...YIKES!!!!!!
22. Hi, I am looking for a small pond boat that I can use in small lakes and ponds. I want a boat that can handle a small trolling motor, does not need a trailer, and is easy to transport. I have looked at mini bass boats, porta-botes, flatstalker boats, good dog boats, twin troller boats, inflatble boats and jon boats. The main problem that I have though is that I only have $400-$500 to spend. Most of the boats are more, with the port-botes, flatstalkers, good dog boats, and twin troller boats costing upwards of $1000. I have been interested in the Intex Mariner 4. Does anyone have this, and if so, what could you tell me about it? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I really want to find an inexpensive small boat to use to fish. If there are any local dealers you know of that offer inexpensive pond boats near me, on Long Island, you can mention those as well. Thanks for the help, Ed
23. Hello, I am really concerned right now about the length of a boat we are getting. For you guys in PA, do our registrations round the length of the boat, like say its 17 1/2 ft. will it appear as 17'? Or is it still considered a 17' boat anyways not 17 1/2? Thanks, Zach
24. Gust bought a brand new pelican and was wondering how to rig it up?
25. Hey I had a question about buying a bass tracker. I am just getting out of high school and looking to get a boat for bfl and team tournaments. I am looking at the 2013 pro team 165 and 175. I am paying for the boat myself so i am limited on cash. I am not really worried about speed because the lake that i fish are not huge so i dont think that will hurt me that much. I am more worried about live wells. The pro team 165 only had a 15 gallon live well. Do you think that i could fit two 5 bass limits in a 15 gallon live well for 8 hours. I am from ohio so there are not even that many 5 bass limits. The reason i am not buying a used boat is that i want the 5 year warrarnt just in case something would happen. also the pro team 165 does not have divided live wells is there any thing i can buy to divid them? I just cant decied between the two boats. The 165 or 175. Any help or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks
