  1. Is there anywhere in NY where I can rent a bass boat for lets say 2 weeks and take it wherever I want and then bring it back to the same place when I am done? We are going on a large trip in August and buddy's boat is out of commission until September and we need a boat. Also do Bass Pro or Cabelas rent out boats as well? Thanks to whoever answers.
  2. Hey All, I am having some problem maximizing my horsepower. I run a 20' 1997 Javelin 400TE with a Johnson 225 Venom. I am getting 46-48 mph when from what I've read I should be between mid-60s to low 70s. I have a manual jackplate and have been reading that Javelins need to be set up lower than other boats on the jackplate. Can anybody confirm this? I can't imagine that a wrong jackplate set up would cost me this much mph. Is there something specific in the motor I should be looking at? The motor smokes due to a fouled plug so I am changing them and the wires this weekend. Is there anything else I should or could look at? Thanks in advance, Andrew
  3. I am looking at buying my first boat, I found this Javelin on Craigslist. I am wondering if anyone has any insight on this. What is the actual model? What would be a fair price? Anyone have any general insight on Javelin or questions I should ask? https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/boa/6197228626.html Thanks
  4. hey I'm new on here, and relatively new to bass fishing, at least serious bass fishing. anyway I just bought a tracker jon boat 1436 that is hooked up pretty good with gps/side scanner/depth finder, shallow anchor stick it, 35 trolling motor, 2.5 merc, decked floors, agm battery and battery box , trailer, and a few other things, all in all I have 3200 in her and everything is 2014 or newer on her, and If I would have bought everything new on it myself it would have been around 4,000. I have a guy that may be willing to trade a 1988 fs 1800 bass tracker fiberglass hull with a 150 merc, jack plate, hot foot pedal, two fish finders, and a 75 trolling motor on her. he wanted 3500 for it or a trade of a smaller jon boat. mine is a little smaller then he was looking for but still might be willing to trade. assuming that when I have his boat looked at by my mechanic and everything checks out, would you do this trade? I am going to try and post pics of both boats on here is I can. thanks. I cant find much info on the fs 1800, I have tried. I am just leery of a boat that is 29 years old. I don't want it to become a money pit. I am tourney fishing local small ponds currently with my 1436 and I know its going to last me years with little to no maintenance. any additional info on the fs 1800 would be greatly appreciated. thanks. here's a few more pics of fs 1800.
  5. Well I am looking to buy a Bass boat, anyone know of anybody selling there's? Must be at least 20' and would prefer a 250HP.
  6. I'm looking into buying an aluminum bass boat in the not too distant future, and was looking for some guidance. I'll mainly be bass fishing small to large bodies of freshwater in Texas and Louisiana, occasionally hitting up some shallow bays. This will be my first boat, and my first real experience boating. I've been in friends' boats a few times, but not often. My requirements so far are at least a length of 17', rod storage of at least 7'6", and a recessed area for the foot control. I've narrowed my choices to the Ranger RT178, Crestliner VT17, and the G3 Eagle Talon 17. Any advice on other requirements I may want to consider, or advice/info on these boats would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hi, I've been fishing lakes and ponds in southwest idaho for 8 years or so. I am very interested in starting a group dedicated to bass fishing in Idaho. I would love to get to know the Bass Resource staff. I have been watching videos on youtube by Glenn May for over a year. It's a pleasure to be on here officially!
  8. I have never owned and taken care of a boat before. I was doing some research online and this seems like a great first boat. It looks like ill be able to purchase it by spring. If anyone one has any tips on the buying/ maintenance that would be great. Also is it worth the dealership to install the steering cables and weld on transducers? or is that something i will be able to do myself? Thank you!
  9. I have a 19 foot intimidator and a 72 lb thrust minn kota trolling motor that has a lot of play in the attachments. There is less than no room where it gets attached to the haul and really want to put a quick release on it. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to go about this?
  10. Hi, I am looking for a small pond boat that I can use in small lakes and ponds. I want a boat that can handle a small trolling motor, does not need a trailer, and is easy to transport. I have looked at mini bass boats, porta-botes, flatstalker boats, good dog boats, twin troller boats, inflatble boats and jon boats. The main problem that I have though is that I only have $400-$500 to spend. Most of the boats are more, with the port-botes, flatstalkers, good dog boats, and twin troller boats costing upwards of $1000. I have been interested in the Intex Mariner 4. Does anyone have this, and if so, what could you tell me about it? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I really want to find an inexpensive small boat to use to fish. If there are any local dealers you know of that offer inexpensive pond boats near me, on Long Island, you can mention those as well. Thanks for the help, Ed
  11. I feel like I should name my bass boat for good luck anyone heard and cool names?
