  1. Ok guys I’m interested to hear others opinions on this. You allowed 1 hardbait 1 softbait and 1 rod and reel or 1 rod 1 reel and 1 bait co what would they be for me I would have to go with dobyns, 13 fishing, and strike king, the only thing I would have to buy would be some berkley stunnas and megabass visions as strike king doesent currently make a nice sexy thin twitch style jerkbait
  2. What are your favorite soft baits that you won’t leave home without? How do you rig them? What rod do you throw them on?
  3. Ok so I'm looking for a bit of advice here. Fishing a private reservoir that has a few aerators in about 17 feet of water. Water is a bit stained maybe 6" of visibility. The are huge bait balls of shad that are all up and down of the bubbling aerators. I know that is where the bass have to be with these huge schools of bait. I just don't know how to approach such open deep water like this. There is going to be a tournament here this weekend and I just can't seem to lock down a pattern. Any advice on how to fish this situation? I appreciate it!
  4. Hello, my birthday is coming up and i’m gonna get a good amount of lures/baits to add to my collection, any recommendations on what to get? Right now i only have roughly 10 lures in total (just the basics pretty much one type of each common lure), and about 10 bags of soft plastics... Also are ‘Yo-Zuri’ lures good for bass/ good for the price? I like how they look, but some people say for the price there’s better bass lures on the market
  5. Hey BR, This video discusses how I tie a Carolina rig, the components I use and top 5 baits in my opinion. Hope you all like it and thanks for watching?
  6. With most soft baits I notice that the main colors white, green pumpkin and black cover most to every situation. Ive fished shakey heads most of my life but now I'm branching out to drop shot more with the weather warming up, and finally able to buy a specialized rod/reel with my first pay raise. With dropshot I seem to always have luck on more translucent colors like smoke and watermelon seed. But I really havent fished the technique enough to know for certain. What are your top producing colors for clear, murky, and stained water?
  7. Hello. I am a pretty new bass fisherman and mostly fish small ponds. I know enough about lake fishing to know which lures to use when, but I am at a loss for pond fishing. Can you give me recommendations for baits to throw in ponds?
  8. A couple of funny things we've been discussing this morning here at home. First: I noticed my last bait is two faced. I'm still new to this and I'm really pleased with the way this one came out. But... when you paint both sides you try to deep them the same. Obviously it doesn't always work. ~One side is the 'startled fish look... It's saying "Oh no, I'm about to be eaten!" It has a round pupil (I make my own) and roundish gills and more red around them. ~The other side is the tough fish look... It's saying "Bring it on, eat me if you dare!" It has an elongated pupil and square jaw and more black in it. Startled bait Badass bait And I have no delusions. This part is very oddball; but that's kinda who I am. I have been doing all of my filming for my videos and pictures with an older $100 Sony vacation camera and processing it in iMovie. Yup, I'd like a gopro or a better digital camera. I've read all about them. They're expensive, and I could afford one if I want and I'm still thinking about it. But, as cheap (frugal) as I am, I'm always looking to make do and have a very strange amount of fun doing it. This is the first time I've mounted it on my old hat using some stainless steel (only the best ? ) hardware. It works quite well. Expect some 'on the boat' action in the Spring! BTW... the boat is homemade too. See the icon in the margin. Strange Man
  9. If the world was about to end and you could only pick up one rod and reel combo and one bait, what would be your go to? Personally I would grab a spinning set up with some finesse worms and drop shot til the end.
  10. I want to get better at finding fish in general, but I struggle the most from thawed ice till about the spawn. I don’t have the best electronics in my boat so that is part of it however I’m determined to get more proficient at locating them. People say cold water small mouth fishing and 90% of the time it’s down south were the water that is “cold” is still in the 40’s or higher. I’m in Washington, as of mid October our water temps have not seen the high 30’s. So my question is without nice electronics, what depth range should I look for, and what type of bottom? Note; I can’t identify weed lines on my electronics so that answer won’t really do me much good. Thanks!
  11. Has anyone fished in Oregon off the river of John Day? What has been your experiences fishing in this river? What types of baits have worked really well and baits not so much, maybe depending on season, weather, temp of water or just fish being finicky? From YouTube I'm hearing that using tube jigs work REALLY well, what have you you noticed using this bait? Want to hear from you anything that can help inexperienced bass Fishing.
  12. Any one hear anything Coming out for icast 2018 new products? New upgrades on gear any rumors, Daiwa, Shimano, Okuma ? Anyone hear anything?
  13. Headed down to Patoka Lake for the first time Saturday. Was hoping to get some tips for this time of year? Best places to fish (bass only), baits, and technics? Somewhat new to fishing larger lakes. Normally fish stripper pits around home. Any advice would be appreciated.
  14. A few days or so ago I received a PM from @A-Jay saying he wanted to send me something and not to worry that it was fishing related. He asked for my mailing address. Not knowing what to think about it, God assured me that it was ok. Being thankful for just the thought of me I replied with the info he needed. A couple days later he messaged me back that the package was on the way with a link for me to track it. I had to go out of town over the weekend for my girlfriend's sister's memorial(God rest her soul) and received an email letting me know the package had been delivered yesterday. I couldn't wait to see what it was, but I had to wait until today when I got back home. I feel like I've won the Bait Monkey Lottery. To my surprise the package was full of bass fishing goodies. Baits, lures and a little bit of tackle. I was speechless and felt very Blessed. 15. So Im newer to fishing, more specifically bass fishing. I have at the rods and reels i need but i'm stuck with one thing. The question I have is if I have a $100 to spend on soft baits. What should I buy? Senkos and worms i have so Im only talking trailers, craws, beavers, no swim baits etc. Please comment baits you think are crucial to have.
  16. Looking to fish some bluegill and shell crackers, small panfish, I have lots of small artificial hard baits etc. Can I use a snap or will the fish see them, oh and the baits sink if that means anything. Thanks, tight lines !
  17. I have been into bass fishing for years now but have always felt a little clueless as to what I am doing. While I have all the baits and a decent rod setup ( spinning) and have caught a few fish, I still feel lost. Where I fish there are several ponds near my local river and I see people down there dressed like a ninja with a backpack on, mask, 2 or 3 rods, and can't help but think they are successful. I'm not looking to go catch 8 fish in day but rather feel confident in my method. I often fish with a jig and trailer, my favorite, or a Texas rigged senko or a crawfish. When fishing weightless especially, since I can't feel the bottom, I feel especially clueless as how to fish it. The ponds I go to have heavy cover ( about 10 feet away from shore made up of small trees) and I snag so much on them that I feel like quitting. d**n shame losing 5 bucks every time a jig gets hung up. While I do fish from a kayak, most of the time it is from the shore. When my rig is in he water , I always just slowly work it back to shore by dragging it with a raise of the rod tip. I often see people working much quicker to get their lure back to shore. Thanks for your help, just need advice to help feel confident fishing my setup and fishing a rig properly.
  18. Hey, new to bass resource. So far I'm liking it. My main problem I've noticed is that when I go shopping for new baits I just grab stuff I've seen people use in videos... Like ltb's and none of it seems to really work here in Washington. Like go into the crank bait isle..... Do you buy lipless , square bills, mid divers and deeps? Same fir any other bait style in stores. Anybody have ideas on what's worth getting and what's not worth getting? Keep in mind we have gills, perch, and pumpkin seeds for our "bait fish". So buying a shad colored bait doesn't help me any. I hope this makes sense, any help will be appreciated.
  19. Hello, So I always wanted to use barbless hooks on baits. Now the only issue with this is that they are hard to find. EX. Like Bass Jigs, spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits (Most Of them) don't have a barbless version. If there is A barbless jig, spinnerbait, buzzbait Please Reply and tell me which one. thx! -"This is my pawn shop"
  20. Need help Fishing the calcasieu river anyone know any spots or good lures to use around February? Thanks!
  21. I wanted to know what your favorite Fall bass bait is.
  22. I've been bass fishing for a little while now and have got decent at doing it. Up to this point I have been using spinner reels only because it it what I was used to and I could cast super accurate, however I just bought a baitcasting setup and can now cast it fine but I encounter two problems. 1. Casting it not just far but accurate 2. Casting light baits (weightless top ribbit frogs or senkos) the accuracy thing may just take me practicing some more but I figured I'd ask for advice. Thank our for your help!
  23. I personally love throwing a senko, they are baits that never fail to produce fish weather they are big or small. My only problem is that I have to through them on a spinning set up because I NEVER feel a bite of any sort, so all the fish i catch are from pretty much accidentally setting the hook when popping it off the bottom. Any tips on feeling the bits so I can throw it on a bait casting set up? I throw the the senko on multiple rigs, but mostly a weightless texas rig ( 5" senko and 5/0 hook) - also i use a medium action rod with 12 lb flurocarbon Thanks ya'll
  24. Okay so I know the bait you're using is really important but my question is how do you know which bait to use if they are similar. In my arsenal of baits I have a lot of different soft plastics and when I'm trying to fish slowly on the bottom I normally go off of color but does the bait actually matter? Like if I am throwing a texas rig what is going to decide whether I tie up a craw or ribbon tail. And when I do fish slow What is the difference of fishing a fitness worm, jig, or any slow moving bait, if the color matches and sizes is it just personal opinion or is there better times to throw a craw over a worm and so on?
  25. What are your thoughts on Big Bite Baits. I haven't used their products very much but they seem to work pretty well when I use them. What are your thoughts on their products? And does anyone know why they are so cheap?
