  1. Right now the weather is perfect for taking that yak out to hopefully get on some bass but all the lakes around where I live (Hot Springs) such as a Ouachita, Hamilton, Greeson, are pretty big and seem daunting to just a 12 ft kayak. Any small lakes around Hot Springs or particular parts of the lakes I mentioned that are good for kayak fishing? All help is appreciated!
  2. Bass fishing on the Maumelle River in April.
  3. Has anyone been on Ouachita since all the rain??? I'm thinking about going down this weekend but have no idea what the lake is doing.
  4. Hello all, I'm a fairly inexperienced fisherman and I'm about to make the road trip down from Vermont to Arkansas to camp on the shores of Lake Ouachita (Big Fir campground on the west shore, if it's of any relevance) in December and I keep reading that the bass fishing there is wonderful. Now I've fished before and I've caught a few bass but I've never done anything remotely specific to try to alter my fishing; I just slap a bobber and a hook on the line and throw on either a plastic or live worm. Do you have any suggestions to improve a bass fishing experience in that particular area of the country or any tips in general that will help me catch fish? Thanks in advance!
  5. I just moved to Fayetteville about 7 months ago and since I've been here I haven't found any friends who like to fish like I do. It's killing me to see my fishing equipment just set there and collect dust. I don't have a boat and bank fishing doesn't seem to be real good around here. Hoping someone can help.
  6. I have read a lot about drop shot fishing for bass in and around suspended bait balls, like shad. I am going to try this on Lake Ouachita in Ark. starting in January for the first time. I have seen balls of bait at 20 to 30 feet over total water depth of 75 feet and am wondering what bait would be good and how you would rig the drop shot setup. Any comments and advice would be really helpful
  7. Im going to be fishing Greers Ferry in Heber Springs, AR here in a few months and have never fished it before. Im looking for any rigs or colors that y'all like to throw, and which species bass you think you could catch the most of in a single day (Largemouth or Smallmouth). I was hoping I could get some ideas before going in completely blind haha! I would appreciate any information y'all would be able to give. Thanks, TCN
  8. Hey fellas, I am fishing my first tournament this upcoming May on Greers Ferry here in the great state of Arkansas. I will be co-angling and from research I will most likely be predominately throwing finesse rigs from the back of the boat. I currently own a 7' Heavy Micro-Magic Duckett fast action with a 7:1:1 Lew's Tournament Speed Spool and a 7' Medium Micro Magic Duckett fast action with a 6:4:1 Lew's TSS Also. I have a 6'6" BPS extreme Medium Heavy with a Nitro Tournament Z 6:4:1, but will most likely not be taking it because the reel is a piece of garbage. I don't have a spinning set up and am looking to purchase one before the tournament in May. I love my Ducketts and have had no problems with them over the past year and a half, but I noticed these Cashion Rods the other day and was intrigued by the way they are built and the features they have on them. My plan is to get either a 7' Medium or Medium Heavy Duckett Micro-Magic Spinning rod. Like I said though These Cashion Rods have caught my eye and I may go with there 7'2" Shaky Head Rod (Medium Heavy). I just wanted to get some of yall's opinions on the two spinning rods and see which one y'all would select from the two. Also if you have anything to say about the tournament I will be fishing in I am open to anything y'all have to say. Thanks, TCN
  9. Hey Yall, Im new to this site so just wantin to start out by sayin howdy. Anyways, I know its a little early to be askin this but any of yall have any experience fishing in Flint Creek in Oklahoma/Arkansas? I headed there in March or April and Im wantin to learn as much as I can to catch a lot of fish. Even give me any info that you have found fishin places like this. Its a river with some fast moving areas and slow moving areas with very, very clear water. I have fished there once before and my buds and me caught some smallies and largemouth that were small but fought pretty good. there are oxbows, weedbeds, waterfalls, rapids for features. Any tips or techniques? Im the kinda teenager savin up for a truck so I only have a 7 foot medium heavy rod with a 6.4 to 1 gear ratio baitcaster and a 6 foot 6 medium action rod with a spinner reel on it. Thanks for Anything and I Hope to Talk To Yall More, Christian
  10. Hey yall Ive got a high school fishing tournement next week on lake Ouachita....Never been there before so im basically blind as to what to do where to fish and how to fish it Any advice on lure choice and color and maybe a spot to fish???
  11. I'm fixin' to buy my first boat but, I wanted some folks to steer me in the right direction before i made the purchase. I like to avoid paying stupid tax where possible. I'm looking for a welded aluminum boat I can take in rivers and smaller lakes. I went and looked a Waco 16 1/2 foot flat bottom yesterday that seemed to fit the bill. I can't find a lot of info on Waco (besides being out N. Little Rock). Here's the link - tell me what y'all think: http://fayar.craigslist.org/boa/3624035013.html I don't know what questions to ask or what to look for to ensure it's not a lemon. And, if I don't get this boat, I'd appreciate some other things to consider when looking for others. Tell me the things you wish you'd known before buying your first boat. Let me know if I've left any info out that would be helpful. Thanks, Spencer.
  12. Hey everyone, Glad to make your acquaintance. I've been fishing since I was a little tyke, now I'm looking for the BIG bass. (aren't we all?)
  13. Hey guys, Im fishing the Tbf national championship on Lake Dardanelle. I need all the help I can get, this is a huge tournament please help me! I live in Alabama and I've never fished Dardanelle anything you can do to help me please feel free to help me!!
  14. I've been pondering on throwing 6'' hudds and maybe even 8" hudds here on Bull Shoals Reservoir for a while now. Both of Arkansas's spotted bass and smallmouth bass state records come from this lake along with Missouri's Largemouth Bass state record of over 13 pounds. Does anybody have any tips on throwing big baits on this highland reservoir? It's clear ( 10' visibility during summer and fall) and deep (75' average depth). Some larger forage for big bass in this lake are Gizzard Shad, smaller bass, baby carp, bullhead catfish, along with baby flathead and channel catfish.
  15. I've been fishing for a while and I just wanted to take the next step and bought a bass tracker in arkansas . So if anybody can give me some tips on where to fish or what bait I should try out in a boat or any tipss would be great thank you i
