  1. Anyone using the anchor wizard for their yak? If so how durable is it, and how is the operating? Looks like a quality product but I want to hear some feedback before dropping 150 on it. Thanks!
  2. I lost an anchor yesterday for the first time ever, an eight pound mushroom type (wedged between some rocks, apparently). I need a new one and have been looking at the different types available and am not sure what I should get. I fish from a Tracker Pro 170, mostly on Lake Champlain (rocky bottom) but sometimes smaller ponds and lakes with sandy or muddy bottoms. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  3. I'm looking to purchase a new boat within the next month. I was looking for input on the Talon if possible. On paper, it sounds like a perfect concept. I have a feeling I won't drift and I'll get more and accurate casts into areas holding fish. The gentleman I'm buying the boat off of suggested I only buy one Talon because my boat will only be 16 feet and I live on a small lake with no heavy boat traffic. Would you guys agree? He clearly could get another $1,000 out of me by insisting I need a second, so I respect him not trying to take advantage. Is the Talon worth the hype? A big part of me can't wait to find out!
  4. I am looking for a cheap DIY shallow water anchor for my first boat (Alumacraft V16). I found a 8ft Fiberglass pole on *** for $65 (TnA shallow water anchor pole). they say you can tie rite to a cleat but i feel like that puts a lot of unnecessary load on the fiberglass pole. They sell a bracket for the transom for $100, but i feel like thats a lot plus it might be in the way of my boat cover (I leave it in the water for the entire summer). Any Ideas????
  5. Was out fishing a deep weedbed with a lipless crank in a rental boat. Didn't have a trolling motor and was marking schooling fish suspended above the weeds. Dropped the anchor to stay on the spot, and after we were done fishing the school (caught 2 small walleyes) I lifted our anchor, only to find this hooked on to the anchor line!
  6. Hey guys im trying to find out if the 12' Talon is longer than the 10' and 8' models when retracted, I'm looking to buy one but I don't want it to be a problem for the guy fishing from the back. Is a Talon higher than a Power Pole when retracted? Does anyone have one of the new Talon models, I know the previous one was bad but is the new one really better? Thank you everyone!
  7. Anyone have one of these? I just purchased a Mojo and I love it, but do not see a lot of other people talking about them. What I am really looking for is where people tend to put that anchor trolley. There is plenty of room to add one, but I am unsure of the level of where to install it, I know where the water line is at but it just seems like an odd area overall. Any insight is appreciated!! Mini Review: Stability is awesome, literally really need to try and dump it over, you will slide out before you flip this beast. Tracking is great, turning is a little slow, but given the size (12.5' by 32" @ 62lbs) it will be slower. Side saddle is super easy, there is one nice hatch in the bow, and plenty of room to add one at the stern or in the cabin area. The Angler model is set up very well already, much better then some other models, there is not anything anywhere that I think is a poor choice. Has a removable console w/ scotty holder, which is a perfect spot to add a FF w/ the scotty flush mount that is already there. I got a great deal on this online so w/ paddle, nice PDF and shipping I got the Mojo for 750 ish, well worth it, only thing major I would like to have which I will add is going to be a hatch in the cabin area for easy phone/key/food stowing. Other than that I can not complain at all for the price.
  8. Has anybody used a minn-kota talon on here? i want a power pole but $2000 is alot, and i can get a talon for $1000. my concerns are since it is telescopic, does water and debris get in the shaft and corrode the internals or is it a really solid unit? any feedback would be great! thanks.
