  1. Hi, I have bought a 2010 Ranger 520 (new to me!) and took it out for the first time today. I have a Yamaha Vmax 250 2nd series on it. I let it warm up for about 2-3 minutes and then tried to take off. When I tried to take off the engine kept going dead as if it had a safety switch on it or something. It would idle just fine, but would go dead when I gave it gas. After going dead about 10 times, it finally stayed running and there was no problems at all. I turned it off several times after that and acted appropriately when accelerating from idle. In fact, the thing ran really, really good once I got going. Does anyone know what the initial engine turning off was all about? Was it not warmed up enough? Maybe had the trim set wrong? I'm not sure what it was, but it scared the heck out of me. I'm glad it cranked and ran well afterwards.
