  1. I need some new polarized sunglasses. I lost my Costas back in early Fall few months ago. Had them around 17-18 yrs. I had prescription lenses put in them about 11 yrs ago. Here’s my dilemma….. I hate to buy another high dollar pair of fishing sunglasses like Costas only to turn around & have after market prescription lenses put in them. I mean the great lenses are part of what makes Costas expensive, I would think. Thinking of just buying some inexpensive frames & having my eye Dr send them off for the polarized prescription lenses. What does everybody do?
  2. I've been following the several threads on sunglasses because I need to get another set and want them to be more effective for fishing. Being that prescription sunglasses are so expensive, this isn't a purchase that I want to screw up. Has anyone had any issues buying them online? So far, I'm liking some of the Costa & Wiley-X offerings....
  3. Hi! I bought last year polarized sunglasses (Costa Reefton) for bright sun high in the sky conditions (blue mirror) and I absolutely love them. In the last few weeks I went fishing on cloudy days but my polarized sunglasses are way too much for these conditions so I i'm thinking about getting Bajio sunglasses or costa but in a different lense color. I mostly do bass fishing but sometimes walleye a bit. I like to search for structure in the water and I often do shore fishing in rivers. I would like a lense mostly for cloudy conditions and early morning conditions. When I went to my local fishing store the guy told me Green mirror was good or COPPER (from bajio). Do you have any recommendations? Which one would you choose? thanks in advance!
  4. Gonna be buying a few pairs of decent sunglasses for bushwhacking and river fishing. Looking for something a little better than the $5 walmart options but because of the nature of what ill be doing don't want alot invested. Anybody have any experience with these?
  5. I believe that Hobie inteoduced thier floating polarized sun glasses either last year or this winter. Anybody have a pair ? I lost a pair of Costa’s last year to Saginaw bay. Since they float it would be a plus. looks like they retail for around $100. I currently have a pair of oakley’s ( copper lense) and the costa’s ( blue lenses) i lost year. both the oakley and costa’s were plastic lenses so im assuming the hobies would be about the same quality wise.
  6. I recently bought a pair of Bolle Falco sunglasses on deep discount. They are polarized and photochromic, so they get darker in brighter conditions (product info claims a range of 13-31% light transmission, same tech as ‘transition’ glasses). I figured these would be perfect for fishing because they let more light through during morning or evening hours. Unfortunately, the polarization is not nearly as complete as my other sunglasses. They do reduce glare, but maybe 2/3 as well as the pair I usually use. Has anyone else tried photochromic, polarized sunglasses for fishing? Does the photochromic technology necessarily interfere with polarization? I love the concept, and everything else about the Falcos (fit, design, tint), but it’s hard to use them for fishing without good polarization. I'd love to know if there are better options.
  7. Currently using Flying Fisherman sunglasses, they are relatively low end I'm paying like $20 a pair. Hate to go with a $100+ pair as I feel like they will get scratched or lost. Anything in the $40 to $75 price range that you feel are very well made and worth the money?
  8. Anyone try these glass polarized sunglasses from Walmart? $82 for a glass lens with TR-90 frames sounds like a good deal, and like Costa 580's claim they are 20% lighter than others.
  9. I'm looking to buy a new pair of sunglasses but stuck between Oakley and Costa lenses. Which do you prefer and why?
  10. I own plenty of sunglasses. of all price ranges. I have very inexpensive Gooder sunglasses scattered in all our cars. the sun is brutal these days to my aging eyes. I need them for daylight driving. I also work construction and inexpensive sunglasses are a must. Mountain biking, I am nursing a pair of Oakley Pitbull sunglasses. they are on life support despite me buying new lenses for them ( I found old stock a few years ago when I called Oakley!). they survived a mountain bike crash that sent me to the ER. tough tough glasses. I love them. Fishing, I am wearing my new Costas. glass lenses. they fit okay, and I ONLY wear them fishing. but lately in the summer, the fish are in the weeds and I am punching, so I wear plastic lenses. My favorite are an old pair of Arnettes. I think they are style 4703 or something. way discontinued. they fit beautifully, despite my giant melon head. the fit is my datum. I judge how all sunglass fit compared to these. they might be 15 years old. the lenses are scratch because I bought them way back when I was poorer and they were my only sunglasses. a life of bowhunting deer and elk (and field construction) destroyed the lenses. just amber polarized lenses. I was just about to toss them in the garbage and I found aftermarket lenses!! I had to take a magnifying glass to read the style number. It was very worn down, and I could barely make out the four digits. I ordered green mirrored lenses, and waited and waited. then I forgot I ordered them. the company is so slow!! I remembered (weeks later) and harassed them a bit talking trash about their customer support. I hovered my finger over the PayPal claim button and BOOM! I think I get my lenses today! fingers crossed they fit into my beloved frames. my next pair of the greatest fitting quality sunglasses, I will immediately go back to the store and buy a second pair. if they are moderately priced like my Arnettes, I might buy two pairs. IIRC they were around $100.
  11. I stopped using the provided microcloth for the most part. at the end of (fishing) day, I go to the kitchen sink. I take a tiny drop of dish soap in my fingers and rub the lens under running water. just a light trickle. then I air dry them. I might get the occasional water spot, but it is rare. if I do, that is when I use the microcloth. I feel I am confident there isn't a grain of sand or anything abrasive in that waterspot. I put them back into the case for the next fishing trip. I think it is working. none of my sunglasses are scratched now. I had an old German dude that sold me my binoculars suggest this for the lenses he sold me. crawling around on the mountains coat binoculars with abrasives. yesterday, mid day I gave myself a start. I thought I lost my sunglasses. I was wearing them. they are so clear, I thought I was looking at the world with bare-eyes. I was missing that tiny scratch I have on my daily pair of sunglasses. any tips?
  12. I'm sure I'll get all sorts of answers here but I'm looking for suggestions of affordable options for prescription sunglasses. My insurance benefits will only cover one pair of glasses per year so priority goes to regular glasses and I'm left paying out of pocket for sunglasses. Even if I did use insurance VSP requires you to use their labs and their lenses which is sub par to premium brands. I currently have ray ban aviators with polarized lenses but they're honestly horrible for cutting through water glare. I know there's tons of decent options for non prescription sunglasses but just wondering what y'all recommend.
  13. I've used these rods for one season and all of them have passed the durability test. I just have too many rods to make good use of them. Some of you have probably seen my rod collection before and know what I'm talking about. These rods might have some minor scuffs or scratches on some of them, especially around the logo section. I only put the rod specs label on one of the customs, but they are easy to tell apart because they are different colors. The epoxy on some of them isn't as perfectly even as some production rods, but those are minor cosmetic issues and in most cases unnoticeable unless you know they're there and they don't affect the performance of the rod. If there ever if a problem with a rod, I will work with you to fix the rod the best I can. Payment for these items will only be accepted from PayPal from the registered email linked to your PayPal account. You will receive an invoice to your email once the terms are agreed to. Once the payment is received, your rod/rods will be shipped with insurance and with sign on delivery. Shipping can be combined for 2 rods, but I don't think I can safely fit any more than two in any of my tubes. SORRY NO TRADES! I'm limited in the number of pics I can upload at once, so I'll try to upload more everyday. But, I'll list the components for the rods below the pics. 14. Used the search and didn't get what I was looking for. Has/does anyone use polarized progressive sunglasses and what are your thoughts ? Have never worn prescription glasses but have an upcoming eye appointment and likely going with progressive lenses for both, every day use and sunglasses for fishing. My eye doctor carries Maui Jim's and Oakley that I know of and got a feeling This will likely be quite expensive and would rather not screw this up. Lol
  15. I have purchased a few things form KastKing over the past couple of years. About two weeks ago, I got a promotional e-mail from them offering a chance to "spin the prize wheel" or something like that in which I was guaranteed to win some kind of prize. In my experience, the "prize" in these kind of things usually is a percentage-off code, or something like that, but I gave it a shot anyway. I won an assortment of bladed jigs: my choice of either their 3/8 oz. or 1/2 oz. bladed jigs in all five colors. I was skeptical, but the five lures showed up in the mail shortly after, in a nice plastic case. The free sunglasses thing is a bit different. There is an Amazon.com link to KastKing's "Innoko" polarized sunglasses and the e-mail promises a refund via PayPal after purchase. Sounds a little sketchy, eh? I forwarded the e-mail to KastKing to ask if it's legit, just in case... ?
  16. Anyone know where i can get some good clip on glasses. I'm red/green color blind as was told to get green tinted ones and i will be able to see under the water better. I've tried three pairs of walmart ones so far and they're all the same. I'm not paying $200 for some hyped up pair at BPS or that tackle website without some assurance it will help. Big old people style wrap around with side shades would be best overall. Heck last year i ran up on two submerged stumps and a mud bank. Thanks
  17. I was pleasantly surprised that my local fishing store carried Bajio Sunglasses. I’ve been curiously interested in them since I seen them mentioned here on the Bass-Forum. I often wondered about glass lenses. They had the pair I was interested in. And they fit fantastic. The lens was so clear. From what I understand, they are an off-shoot of Costas. anyone wearing Bajio’s? Real world reviews? btw, the Bales Beach seem to be the ones I test fit. I read the return policy and it seems cut/dry. No surprises there.
  18. Costa is having a huge sale and I have some gift cards so I am thinking about picking up a pair of polarized Costa sunglasses. I havent looked into whether they have different lenses for different things, I just saw tons of models that said polarized. What are peoples experience with them?
  19. Hey all! Would love your recommendations as to which polarized sunglasses are your favorites and why. I really need a well built brand that allows the wearer to see as deep into the water column as the wearers eyes allow. I have really good eyes but the pair I have now kinda sucks, especially in lower light. Thanks!
  20. Which sunglasses do you suggest for - of course - fishing? I'm looking at Kastking brand @$26.99 which sounds more than reasonable for protecting my eyes and other good stuff. What's your favorite?
  21. Will probable go with Wiley X.Any suggestion
  22. like everyone else use a depth finder constantly. have trouble seeing screen in heavy sunlight. What is preferred lense color to help see screen better.?? Thanks
  23. Hey everyone I bought a pair of Split Shots about a year ago and the leash has started to show some rust where it touches my head right behind my ears. Has anyone else had this happen? I mean, I sweat like a pig in summer, sure. But I thought these would last a bit longer without looking all dirty. I've tried spraying WD40 on a rag and running the leash through it, and I don't really wanna use anything too harsh considering these spots rest against my skin.
  24. I been watching fishing on TV a lot over the winter and always see them saying that they are glad they had those sun glasses because they can see under the water for trees, rocks etc. I dont know to believe it because they usually are trying to sell the items they show. I would be interested because I fish on the Hudson river from shore and cant see good. See attached picture please. I would like to know in that situation would I be able to see far under the water?
  25. Title says it all. What are some decent ones under $50? From what I have read on a lot of them can have the coating easily rub off, just looking to see what you guys have or still use.
