  1. The 70cm is amazing but what was it's girth? I have a John Elway autographed authentic NFL football. I'll go measure the girth of that thing and I bet it's close.
  2. Oh come on WRB. I have to read repeat threads on the same topics over and over and over. Can you cut me some slack just this one time? :-[ Ha. Gotta go with FBL on this one. It took me about two years to really start noticing a bunch of repeat posts, and now it seems like 95% of them are repeats. I've personally started dozens of threads on this board (more than some, nowhere near as many as others) and I think I've seen a repeat of about 80% of my "original" threads, not to mention all the other repeats of other peoples threads. To have to read them over and over and over takes a special kind of talent. Starting a truely original thread in the "general bass fishing" forum on a board of this size, activity level, and knowlege base is super tough at this point.
  3. Been slamming large(4+) Colorado bass all Spring and Summer. A handful over 5 and a couple over 6. Lost my personal best a month or so ago. From the looks and feel of her she had to be 7-8 but who knows.
  4. What State do you live in? What will be the tactical and strategic changes you'll make in a few weeks when the bass make the transition from summer to fall behavior and why?
  5. Anyone ever bought a pair of polarized shades for under $50.00 that they really love? What are they and where can I buy them? Thanks!
  6. Just out of curiosity, what if someone/a few different people in the first few posts had told you... "Yes, there has been a few different times now this year, that I have caught a bass on my first cast, and every time this happened I had bad luck the rest of the day." Would you start quitting fishing every time you catch a fish on your first cast? That's completely illogical and silly, so stop even worrying about such stuff and start practicing, reading, studying, and fishing for as many hours as you can. This way you can learn from actual experience, and not urban myth, fear, superstition or old wives tales.
  7. probably got moved bro. Keep looking.
  8. The classic is a "bigger deal." AOY is cool and all but it's based on skill AND a weird post season. The classic is one tourney, for all the marbles. Love it!
  9. From what I see, I can fish a buzzbait on the north east part of "Pond A" at 7:44pm one night and slam 'em good, then come back and do the same thing a day or two later and not have nearly the same results. Find the fish first and most impostantly, then let them tell you what they want based on what's going on in their environment at that particular moment in time.
  10. Weird you mentioned it. I had a robin fly into my line a couple weeks ago and the line got caught in it's feathers on its wing. I couldn't get it out and had to finally cut the line. As I was holding the line and the bird was struggling, the line came free and it flew off. A couple casts later I caught a 21 inch bass just under 6 pounds, my third biggest bass of 2010. The guys I was fishing with and myself are now believers that when a bird hits your line and you let it go, it's good fishing karma, and the fishing God's will reward you always.
  11. There's 8 weeks in the entire regular season. I think being the best for a few weeks is tougher and more important than you think. If most Elite series guys could be "Angler of the past few weeks" in the regular season more often, they'd make a hell of a lot more money on tour, and be recognized as even better anglers than they are now. They'd also make the top 12 at the end of the year more often. Being "Angler of the past few weeks" is super important in the regular season, but to be "Angler of the past few weeks" when it REALLY matters? That's KVD. Having said that, the format really does stink. It'll be fun to see how the format changes and how KVD adjusts to it so he can dominate 5 out of 8 AOY's after the change.
  12. KVD DOMINATES! The guy is almost just messing with the field at this point. I obviously say this tounge and cheek but it's like the guy is purposely just trying to win AOY in as many different ways as he can before he dies so this year he chose to make everyone think he had no legit shot to win it until close to the end. As if he was trying to prove he can come back from a near insurmountable lead just in the nick of time, only to surgically remove Skeets heart, and have it mounted on his wall. Doesn't matter a lick if KVD wins or doesn't win when he WANTS to. What makes the wizard such a complete dominator is the fact that he almost always win when he NEEDS to. Dude is just cold blooded and a true freak of nature. Congrats Mr. VD.
  13. A few questions... 1. What State do you live in? 2. Compared to your past few summers, how's the 2010 bass fishing summer been for you so far? Have you been catching less weight and/or numbers? More weight and/or numbers? About the same as usual? 3. If, for you, 2010 is much slower OR way better than usual, what do you attribute that to?
  14. Was just going to write the same thing. I ADORE going out on a night just like tonight. No wind all day, calm as glass, and throwing my buzzbait till my arm falls off. Plastics work GREAT too when throwing to vegetation edges in the calm water at dusk.
  15. It can and most likely will survive. I've recaught the same bass I had to cut the line on and leave the hook in it's throat. After I found out about the method below, I recaught the bass and took the old hook out of it's throat. It looked like it lost a little weight, but it was still eating and hunting. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1128002349/16#16
  16. Interesting. I am going to pay attention to that one. That could help determine where to start the day. Especially after a pre-fish several days earlier. LOL! Good 1 Catt! Classically hilarious honestly! Bordering on genius in fact.
  17. Same answer as the last 5 times this post has been made. It's gotta be Ike. I have more in common with him than I do most anglers on tour. His outgoing A-Type personality fits right in with lots of my friends and myself. I'm not a big fan of picking low key guys to fish with if I only have one day on the water with them. I know Ike is a great teacher who has a huge love of the game. I assume Ike would be a great dude to have a few beers with while we fish and shoot the nuts about angling. Perhaps if I saw more of the other anglers doing internet interviews, and on TV interviews and fishing shows I'd know more about their personalities and pick one of them instead. Mike's on TV all the time so He's the easy choice.
  18. Yep. No dorsal. Surprised this thing lived to be this big without getting eaten. If I'm an adult bass, a juvi bass with no dorsal fin looks like a good lunch.
  19. WOW! It's an optical illusion. Depending on how I look at it, I can't tell if the tail is sticking up in the air or is laying flat on the ground. Beautiful fish no matter what it's shape though. Actually its the head section that's bent. the tail fin might be slightly bent too, but for the most part, its lying flat. I know! That's what makes it so cool. The way the fish's body is so kinked, makes the tail fin look as if it's in the air. Kinda cool.

  21. Weird day yesterday. Anyone have any photos or descriptions of oddly formed bass they've caught? I caught this humpback yesterday and it got me to wondering how many other anglers have caught something weird like this. A few casts after this I caught a 17 inch long bass with a 4.5 inch Yamamoto Large Flappin' hog in it's belly. Just a tiny peice was sticking out of it's throat and I pulled it out with my pilers. I can't imagine how long that thing was stuck in there and I can't imagine how on Earth that fish's stomach acids would have dissolved this huge lure. I was blown away the fish was able hunt and eat effectively. Anyway, check out this basses topside. It's lateral line looks like a ski hill.
  22. I love it. A great big bass technique. Lots of patience and lots of visualizing. Sometimes When I'm stitching and really really focused, I almost feel like I've turned into a crawdad. When you feel the Crawdad start pulling more than usual many times it's because it sees a bass and is freaking out, expect a bite. Also, I try and yank off one of the crawdad's pinchers to make it look more vulnerable.
  23. Beware the bait monkey!
  24. Again, not sure what you're talking about here bro. Your ASA/ISO has NOTHING to do with your F-stops and certainly when you set your ISO/ASA you are NOT opening your aperature like you stated. You open your aperature with your F-stop ring on a film camera, and a press of a button with a digital camera. The higher you set your ISO/ASA the lower F-stop you can shoot with in low light.
