  4. I'm from northeast ct. and it was wierd last year as far as ice goes. Any ponds at the top of the state would be froze, drive 20 min. south no ice at all. and we would have 8-13 inches consistantly.
  5. How many New Englanders ice fish? Just got into it bigtime last year.Couple pike here and there, 4.4lb largemouth just some of the highlights. I'm building a portable heated shanty this fall and look to do way more ice fishing, just wondering if anyone else icefished and would be interested in an outing once the water gets hard
  6. Nothin wrong with Toto bud, Been on a big Toto kick lately
  7. They need to cut down on the time in between the divisional series and the championship series. They could probably save a week alone there.
  8. I tore ACL,MCL,PCL and miniscus and was walking almost without a limp till my surgery. It is very possible for it to feel better without actually being better. Case in point had a friend who played and entire baseball season with a torn ACL.
  9. Ya know, I just picked up ice fishing last season as a way to pass the winter time. Let me tell ya, it is actually quite fun. Not the same as being in a boat and casting, but get a small group of guys, toss a football around have a few "pops" and life is good
  10. Safety dance by men without hats. Or an Toto

    GO RAYS

Just wanted to wish you southern boys(florida) good luck in the world series.I said if Tampa beat Boston i would cheer on Tampa. So go Rays. Rays in 6.Upton world series MVP
  12. get yourself a $30 air soft gun and snipe them. It'll give em a good sting and is non lethal. Could be fun.
  13. A buddy just sent this to me: RETIREMENT PLAN INVESTMENT TIP If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, It would now be worth $49.00. With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1000. With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left. If you had purchased $1000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock you Would have $49.00 left. If you had purchased United Airlines, you would have Nothing left. But, if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of beer one year Ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the Aluminum recycling refund you would have $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment advice is To drink heavily and recycle. This is called the 401-Keg Plan
  14. passed out in the 5th woke up in the 8th thinking I was dreaming. I'm picking up some TUMS on the way home from work for Saturdays game.
  15. 314 according to my fishing journal
  16. They &*%$#@* own us!!!!!!!!! Feel sorry for the Phillies. Rays seem to be a team of destiny. Joe Madden = easily manager of the year, maybe decade!!!
  17. 1980-1995 average attendance 26,750(almost 10,000 more than the rays). We've won 6 world series in the last 100yrs. Muddy, alot of credit to the Rays manager(easy manager of the year), and for the Rays they just don't feel any pressure. If they get by us I am definately cheering them on
  18. Muddy, I am only 31 yrs. old but speaking of 1986. That was my first year really watching baseball. What a heartbreaking way to start a life of loving the Red Sox.It is a wonder how I was able to still cheer for them all these years. You'll start things off better with the Mets in a new stadium.
  19. I do agree some sort of better revenue sharing or salary cap would be a good thing. Too many great players bouncing around, bout the time you start liking a player he's on another team. Agreed that Boras sucks and is bad for the game.Example: the circus known as Manny this season in Boston. For what it is worth this has been a great(and civil) debate. You wanna talk baseball anytime startup a new thread or p.m. me. Baseball is the greatest sport(see we can agree on something Muddy ;D)
  20. Big Papi was sprinting LOL!Muddy where do you think the luxury taxes these "big market teams" pay goes. To the lesser teams. Tampa gets 20-30 mil a year, granted this doesn't solve salary issues but that money can get a couple of GOOD pitchers, and as we all know "good pitching will contain good hitting."
  21. Baseball players are paid millions of dollars to play a kids game. Fans all around baseball pay way too much to attend games.Blame the players union for no salary cap, which would level the field. If I am at the game watching players take strike three with the bat on their shoulder or have to watch Manny roll around in the outfield like he's trying to put out a fire I can boo. Doesn't make me less of a fan. I still love the team and the players it is performance I am booing. Red Sox players have said in numerous interviews about this subject that if they play poorly they deserve to get booed. According to ATX then, there really isn't any true fans in baseball. What is a fan to do when you have Manny who takes three strikes down the middle from M.Rivera with the bat on his shoulder because he didn't get his day off like he was supposed and didn't want to pinch hit? Or if he doesn't play cause his knee hurts but can't remember which leg to limp on? Say "that's alright Manny you play when you want to" B.S. they are being payed millions,a little criticism doesn't make anyone less of a fan. That is the beauty of sports, being able to critique and second guess decisions.
  22. 8 of the last ten world series winners had payrolls under $100million
  23. But alot of these small market teams are not doing anything with the revenue sharing! Owners are choosing to pocket the money(which under MLB rules they are allowed to do)instead of spend it on players. Rays budget is 30mil a season. Well that is without the 20-30 mil they get from revenue sharing. That is 2 top of line pitchers or a couple of marquee names. How quickly everyone forgets about the Red Sox 86 years of misery.
  24. thank you Bass-brat!With high ticket prices(highest in the majors) and over 550 consecutive regular season sellouts I think Boston fans have earned the right to express displeasure towards a poor team performance.
  25. Isn't a big market statement. Before the season even started I said to friends watch out for the Rays this year. They have always been young and fiesty, now they have tremendous athleticism, speed to go with the youth. Along with the reliable pitching they always needed. My statement about them not deserving a team was based on the fact all season long there attendance stunk. 11000+ fans here and there to see a first place team is pathetic. Big market/small market has nothing to do with it. We're not talking money available to spend on players. Teams have shown in the past you don't need money to win it all(Florida Marlins). But for a team to be in first place virtually all year and only have 8 sellouts IS PATHETIC!! The Rays deserve better from there fans!!Worst to first isn't that parody? Revenue sharing? Heard of Luxury tax?Rays recieve $20-30 MILLION annually form other teams. They choose to spend it on stadium renovations and not on the roster(owners choice)$20 million spent on stadium in off season. Check your facts revenue sharing exists.
