  1. I was at CC yesterday, sorry I didn't check this thread earlier. We didn't get on the lake til around noon because of the fog, they wouldn't let us on. Caught a few whites/hybrids on red eye shad and one LMB on a jig. Some guys were gettin smallies on shaky heads. Hope you're having more luck than us! For LOZ, I agree. I'd throw alot of pointers/rogues. Alot of guys seem to target bluffs that time of year.
  2. I do the same thing, leave mine attached to my life jacket and leave my life jacket in my seat, make sure to put it on before I take off and I'm always secured. My kill switch is a toggle, I'm guessing the newer ones aren't?
  3. Yes. buy the citica!!
  4. This isn't about his sponsorships. As a college team, this is about our sponsorships. If the whole club is going to represent a company, shouldn't the whole club have a say in who it is?
  5. ;D Shouldve known the Northeasterner would suggest such a thing!!
  6. We appreciate the posts, guys. 8-)
  7. I picked up a couple spools, their fluorocarbon and their x-rated copoly. Both are awesome. I had just about given up on all fluorocarbons til I tried this stuff. Only other copoly I've ever used was yo-zuri and didn't care for it much, looks like the x-rated will replace my Sufix! 8-)
  8. Who knows, man. I can assure you not "every" fish in that situation goes on to survive. I had one break off in a small pond that I fish, found it floating with my crank in it's mouth a couple days later. >
  9. My nephew wanted to "BASS FISH". ;D So I put on a TX rig with a blue curl tail he picked out and here's what we got on the 4th cast!!! 8-) He was screaming at the top of his lungs. He's hooked for life!
  10. I like the anaconda or the new one I've been playing with is the Gambler paddlestik. Been throwing some swimsenkos too.
  11. The only colors I really ever use: Watermelon/red flk or a similar variation (WM salsa, WM grape, WM candy) Bama craw (rage tail craws) Black/Blue flk Junebug Pumpkin Just match the hatch and vary for water clarity. Don't get too caught up in colors. 8-) I don't carry a bag of every one of those colors for every bait that I get. As far as baits go. I carry a few different types of stick baits depending if I'm weightless rigging or wacky rigging or TX rigging(Senkos if money is in your veins, tiki sticks, bps sticks, trick sticks). A curl tail worm is good for C-rigging this time of year (rage tail anaconda or powerworm). Straight tail worms are good for weightless, shaky head, or dropshot; I use a million different types depending on exactly what technique but I use trick worms, trixie flirts, gambler giggy sticks, yamamoto finesse worms. Gotta have some craws: either Rage craws or Paca craws. Don't forget rage lizards or zoom lizards. Also some brush hogs or other creature baits (Rage space monkey, anyone?). I guess looking back on that paragraph, plastic selection ISNT so simple. Try 1 of everything and determine what you like and what works for you. I have so many soft baits I don't know if I'll ever reopen half of them (if I ever opened them in the first place! ;D). If I was going to pick 3 soft plastics to suggest to you: Absolutely a senko or a knockoff, a zoom lizard, and a rage craw. Fish them and rig them every way possible until you feel comfortable catching them every way then move on to something else. I still learn new ways to fish old baits! 8-)
  12. I just wait til something breaks then learn how to fix that one thing! ;D Howstuffworks has a great article about 2-stroke motors and their comparison to 4-strokes (assuming you're better versed in 4-stroke motors). IMHO the most intimidating thing on a boat motor is the lower unit, that's where I'm totally lost. :-/ We'll get there! 8-)
  13. Uh-huh. Us Kansas boys know better than to roam where we don't belong!! The Mined Land Wildlife Area in SE Kansas is 14,000+ acres of old mining areas with hundreds of strip pits peppered across them. And yes, the fishing IS amazing. That's where the latest LM state record came from. Just watch out for snakes.
  14. Shop around and take your time. I just bought a 99 Champion 186DC for $8700 in good condition.
  15. You beat me to it, Glenn! 8-) I sell firearms and have to calm people down who come across these bills every day. If I have one more person come in and tell me about the ammunition accountability act (which has been in committee for A LONG TIME now and will NEVER come out), I will punch a puppy! ;D As for supporters of these gun laws, I'll just put it this way: Gun laws only keep honest people honest. Criminals will get guns one way or another, it's impossible to keep it from happening. I can tell you I hate to see some of the loops that normal law abiding citizens have to jump through just to buy a firearm. I have to deny SERVICEMEN (military personnel of our country who are defending our rights and freedom!!!) all the time who cannot prove 90+ days of residency because they are constantly being restationed. And yes, I may be the most red-blooded Republican around but if I hear one more person blame any gun bills on Obama I will rip their head off, he's plenty busy with other business right now. /rant
  16. I tie all of mine directly on. I save my swivels for C-riggin and my snap/swivels for bobber fishing! 8-)
  17. I broke off 3 times one day in a tournament using a regular cinch knot. That's when I realized there's a BIG difference between knots. Now I use a palomar knot 100% of the time. If you break off, you'll know whether it was the knot or the line, if your line that is left has curlys in it, it broke in the knot, if the line is perfectly straight like you just spooled it up then the line broke. 8-)
  18. Thread de-raileddddddddddd I hate Trilene 100%. It frayed wayyy too easily for my tastes, then again I haven't found a fluoro that I like yet. : The 100% was very manageable (on casting equipment anyways) but after an hour or two of fishing I could visibly see frays all up and down my line. Tried a couple different rods and techniques thinking something else was causing it but got the same results. And no, I personally would DEFINITELY not recommend using fluoro for topwater fishing because the line sinks, it'll usually drag the nose of the bait into the water and take away from the action. As for using it for bobber fishing, I don't know why you'd want to but it probably wouldnt hurt.
  19. Depends how bad they are. I camp at several lakes that are infested with them and can still swim barefoot without troubles. All it takes is that one mussel facing sharp side up though > Should rinse your boat, bilge, and livewells with hot water & chlorine and/or let it sit for 5+ days before transporting to a non-infested lake.
  20. I've only tried one RI product (the trixie flirt) and I was unimpressed... :-/
  21. yeah the 2 oz. rule is bs. Heavier is heavier. Our last state record was only beat by like 1/8 oz... :-/
  22. ;D I was thinkin of you when I saw this thread. Looks like a good bait. Seems to have a good action.
  23. Ever wired a car stereo? Pretty easy. 2 12v hot wires (one constant and one switched that you will probably want to run thru a toggle...), a ground wire, antenna cable, then speaker wires. Be sure to put a fuse on the hot wires! Mounting wont be bad, just make sure you measure the hole right the first time before you cut ;D Good luck! 8-)
  24. Mostly boo-yahs and terminators here. Never heard of revenge but after lookin at them on tackle warehouse I might give them a try. They're awfully proud of some of those baits.
  25. Had to walk her from a ways so I didn't get a good picture, was in a hurry to get her back to water. Guessing around 5er. I've been searchin for her ever since. 8-)
