  1. Thanks, I never thought about it that way, but now that you mentioned it, it does make perfect sense.
  2. I am looking a galvanized trailer for my boat. If my bottom width is 60 inches, will a 64 inch wide trailer work? I am just not sure how much clearance I would need on each side. Thanks
  3. I bet it being the first birthday trip made it even more gratifying. Nice job!
  4. That's awesome, my carrier doesn't have WFN so I am looking forward to catching the show again on tv.
  5. As my wife would say "That's too cute"
  6. Thanks, thiss is seriously my second jig fish ever. My first came when i just dropped it in the water and a fish blew up on it. I am going to focus on the jig this year and keeping accurate records of my outings.
  7. I really wanted to get out on the 1st. Temps in the 70's I thought would push the fish shallow. I took the kid out around 1100 to the ponds on the base here by the house.. I started out throwing a crank that I got from Kent ( aka Roadwarrior ) from the gift exchange. I threw if for around 30 minutes with no takers. Then I decided to switch to a jig n craw that I also received from Kent. I am really committed to gaining confidence in jigs this year. I pitched it around structure and casted out to areas where I have hooked fish in the past. Nothing, nada, no joy. Man I am really getting frustrated. If there fish are there they will hit right? I left and went to another pond. I found a sunken tree and start pitchin to the branches, nothing no bites, hits nothing. I'm not giving up I am gonna catch a bass on a jig. I keep going with nothing. Then I see a bass and pitch the jig out about 5 ft past him. I hop it up to him and he swims off. Hmmm. why did that happen. Then it hits me, I am fishing 50# braid in super clear water. I tie a jig on my spinning rod with 10 pd fluoro and flip it out to the same branch. On the fall the line jumps and I set the hook. I get the fish up a whole 1 pounder and I am physched, I feel like I have put a few pieces in the puzzle and its great. About that time my son is getting restless and wants to go home. I feel like its a good stopping point so I pack up and we hit the road. One I want to thank Kent for the jigs. Two I am glad that I stuck with them, while it was no monster I am wanting to gain confidence with jigs and I am glad that I stuck with them. Sorry for the long post, but I am very pleased with myself right now.
  8. 1. Baby brush hogs 2. Rage tail anaconda 3. Cotten Cordell Big O shallow cranks. 95% of my fish came off of these 3 lures. The first two were rigged with spot remover jig heads.
  9. While I am not a fan of either team, this game had to be hands down one of the top 5 games of the year. Coming down to the wire I was on the edge of my seat. When BYU score with .11 left I went wild. I hope everyone else who saw this game enjoyed it as much as I did.
  10. Super Fluke in Albino, thats all I have had luck with.
  11. I have caught fish with a senko rigged in all manners above, but when the fish are finicky I have had the best luck with weightless wacky rigged.
  12. Thanks for the replies gents, I went 1/2 mono and 1/2 braid. I will take everyone's advice and play around until I find what works best for me. I was just looking for a good starting point. Once again I really appreciate everyones input.
  13. This is a great learning topic for me, I always assumed to use a bait with the least amount of action as possible in cold water to mimic natural forage. So now to try trailers with more action to gain more of a reaction strike.
  14. When using backing for braid, I have a few questions? I am using 50# samurai braid for my jig setup. I have covered the spool with mono, now should I cover the mono with athletic tape or just blood knot the braid to the mono?
  15. This is a story passed to me from my in laws. When my wife and brother in law were little they used to go to Christmas parties with my in laws at the Moose Lodge. Well santa was at a party and my brother in law wanted a tonka tow truck. I guess he didn't know the terminology for it and called it a " Hooker" . When it was his turn to sit in Santa's lap, Santa looked it him and said " Jeffrey what do you want for Christmas" He told Santa " Santa Clause I want a hooker" Santa without skiiping a beat told him " Me too son". That is one of the best ones that I have heard to this day.
  16. We were at my parents house on Christmas eve. My nephew got a basketball goal for his birthday(Dec 6th) from my mom and dad. We were standing outside shooting around when my dad looks at my 6yo Andrew and tells him to take a long shot. My son looks at my dad and says "Grandpa I'm not even gonna waste my energy with that" My dad just about lost it laughing.
  17. Nice catches and that bay looks awesome. On a side note you may want to watch the music that you put in the videos, lots of younger ones here. Have a good one.
  18. That's a new one to me, I love it.
  19. Has anyone heard from or seen Jimmy on line lately? He is one of the nicest fellas I have met on here and I can't recall seeing him around in what seems like forever. I hope everything is ok.
  20. Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks to Glenn and Keri for providing us all with this wonderfull forum. I hope time spent with loved ones is memorable and enjoyed. I just got to my parents and I am loving it so far . Time to watch movies with the kids.
  21. My 2011 goals: Have fun My 2012 goals: Have fun
  22. If you don't have anything by the 26th let me know and I will send you some stuff. I don't want this tradition stained. Hopefully like others have said you will be surprised.
  23. I really hope that's not the case. If you don't receive anything, let me know I'll send you a package. I am sure people have received their stuff and have just not posted yet due to the hectic schedules this time of year. I think we will start to see more posts here after Christmas.
  24. I bet PETA gives him a medal.
  25. I fish my local club, and the local poor boy tournaments on Sundays. I enjoy it because it has forced me to learn different techniques.
