  1. I am probably not the best person to give advice for bass fishing as I haven't been at it too long. I know when I fish saltwater I never use the hooks that came with the lure. Change out the trebs with some seriously sharp ones and see how that does. I may be way off here, but usually the hooks that come on lures aren't the best out there.
  2. You and I should go fishing, that way neither one of us will feel too bad. I know how you feel. It seem for the past three weeks I can't buy a bite. The further I can get away from where I live the better luck I have and I haven't been able to get away since the first of July
  3. Or that UPS is going to sponsor Jeff Gordon next year. ;D Besides whats wrong with the TIDE. Guess its a SEC thing
  4. Frogtog, You are good enough to have your own show. I saw your profile on the tourn trail. Hopefully I can one day be good enough to grace your presence. Burley, I was thinking that it was way more than that . Either way I will check into it tomorrow and see what it is.
  5. Dang I guess I have blind eyes and deaf ears. I din't realize it was that cheap. Thanks for the info I will check into it tomorrow.
  6. Man, Avid and Long Mike. Why so much animosity towards each other? Why can't we all just get along? ;D

    Two-A-Days

I am really looking forward to football season. I love college and pro's, but highschool is where the heart is if you ask me. I try to make all of the games I can, but if I can't I can still hear the band play from my house. I can't wait for my kids to get old enough to play if they decide they want to.
  9. When I was in highschool we would go catfishing on the cape fear river. We would also pick up some ( what I called ) orange goop. They sell it in white containers with blue lettering at Wal-Mart. I won't say that it worked any better than what the gentleman above listed, but we had some good luck with it. I don't know of any freshwater fish that will ruin a drag better than a 20 some odd # carp. They seem like a freshwater tarpon to me.
  10. I guess I will have to look into TIVO or a DVR. Might have to take a cut on the tackle budget for a while. I just think that its funny the stuff they show at prime time tv. I won't talk down on any sport, but the area that I live in they show sports center back to back to back and bicycling isn't real popular around here. At the same time when football season rolls around you won't hear me complaining. Guess I need some culturing. ;D
  11. Burley hit the nail on the head. I have had some bad experiences before I gained that knowledge :'(
  12. Got one in the mail from the local tackle shop. Just saw this today and got it from the local shop up the road. Jeremy
  13. Why is it that all the fishing tv shows come on either 1. While I am at work during the week. 2. During the weekend during the optimal fishing hours. > I don't think that is fair. I enjoy watching the shows to try and pick up on some of the things they are doing. OLN and ESPN need to adjust their schedules. Am I the only one who has noticed this or feels this way.
  14. Just to add a little bit more. You can spend a fortune on a pc, but don't skimp on your software. If you don't have a good anti-virus and spyware/pop-up blocker. your 3-5k machine is no better than a $200 used machine.
  15. I see the Chargers winning it all. ( Hey I am a big NC State fan, gotta pull for my boy Rivers), if its not the Chargers I would love to see the Saints in it. They went from the aint's two years ago to a well respected team last year.
  16. I also fish the OBX every year. We usually stay in Avon. I have had good luck with tuna heads from the days charters. We usually use about 12-15 oz of weight with a 12/0 hook along with a 400 pd steel leader. It works better from the pier when you have a soul brave enough to kayak a bait out about 100 yds. A 6/0 penn reel will work, but atleast a 9/0 is optimal. We have caught some 250# + sand tigers. Make sure you know the laws on sharks, if not most of them will cary a federal fine. Good luck and tight lines Jeremy
  17. Did they add a flux capacitor It is blazing now. Thanks
  18. That is really nice, but what happened to the days of plywood and cinder blocks. ;D I really like the detail as far down as having the wheels to pull it around versus having 4 people over to haul it around. I am really sure that he appreciates the time you took to be involved in something he enjoys
  19. That sounds about like me. I am lucky enough to have a tidal river about 20 ft away from the building I work in. I have never seen anyone catch a bass there, but the reds , flounder and trout seem to cooperate along with the beer. I don't always catch fish but its peaceful and I can forget about a lot of things.
  20. Just caught my first bass on the fly a few weeks ago. I posted a pic in the southeastern forum under kerr lake. It wasn't too much bigger than that but it was a blast watching it sky. I was throwing a small cream colored popper. What did you use. Jeremy
  21. I would love to join. Let me know Jeremy
  22. Just to throw my .02 out there. My son has ADHD. He is not to thrilled to get out on the boat with the thought of no action. I kinda comprimised with him. I let him bring his game boy so when he gets bored he has a fallback. We still communicate and spend time together. Usually once I find the fish he will get back into fishing, or when I hook one I let him reel it in. There will be days when he comes home complaining and moaning and there are the days when he comes home with a big smile on his face and some pics for mom. Whatever you decide, just don't give up. I think kids who are shown to appreciate the outdoors turn out better in life.
  23. Maybe I was misunderstanding what I read. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I guess its the fact that I have read so much and tried so hard to catch some decent bass that I am losing a lot of confidence and looking for something out there. I will stick with it though until the results pay off.
  24. Great job, that just makes me sick ;D guess its back to just trying to catch a dink for me. :'(
  25. I have read that you can tell the type of cover that a bass is in by its color. Depending upon the water you are fishing I can see this to be a great help. I am kind of a retard I guess to understanding this stuff. Can some one break it down into laymens terms for me. If a bass is dark it in forage of some type? If it is a lighter color then what does that indicate? I appreciate anyhelp and if you feel like calling me an idiot go ahead. Jeremy
