  1. Welcome aboard, This site has a bunch of great guys and gals, who have a lot of knowledge and are down right hilarious.
  2. My member challenge this month was to fish a texas rig soft plastic. I can say to me that bumping rocks is the hardest to distinguish between that and a bite ( to me only if you are using a weight). It seems like you are getting a tap tap tap. To me, from the few fish I have caught, not only is it feel, but you have to watch your line for movement. After a while it gets easier but you have to concentrate a great deal. I actually learned more from setting the hook when I wasn't supposed to as when I was getting bites. Sorry if this doesn't help out too much, but that is the best way that I can explain it to you with my experiences. P.S. I don't think that its a stupid question, if you are just starting to use that rig as I was, its not an easy thing to differintiate.
  3. NC record smallie record is 10pd 2oz caught in 1951 at Hiwassee Resevior.
  4. Thanks for all of the advice, I went out today with the ika's. They seemed to work better. I still didn't catch large fish ( over a pound) but I caught about 5 lmb in a few hours. My best number wise at this pond. One more question though, all of my stikes came on a dead stick type of presentation. Does that mean I am working the bait wrong, or is that just how the fish prefer them. Thanks once again.
  5. Congrats, thats a great feat for anyone, now that you have learned to drive a stick you won't like to drive an automatic for atleast a year/
  6. Avid, you are absolutely correct, when i wrote that it didn't seem bad, but reading it again it could have seemed down right disrespectful. No harm meant and Avid thanks for pointing that out.
  7. You suck. ;D So now not only do you kiss fish, you can call them out by saying " last cast" The shame

    hello

Where at in WK, I have a good friend that is from Hopkinsville. Anyway welcome aboard.
  10. KU hasnt accepted his invitation yet, once he does there will be 2 spots left. Guys, i like the smack talk before you have even drafted your teams. ;D I could win with a peewee leauge team. ;D I will take farve, and the lions and my management skills will still spank all of your hineys. ;D DISCLAIMER: Due to the smacketh talk being laid down, I will probably finish dead last in this leauge.
  11. What girlfriend she done dumped me. Its not worth it Captain, stick to fishen, its cheaper And even when you go a month not catching its still less stressful.
  12. Anyone have any of these, I checked out the banner and they have them on sale for 30. That price is right up my alley, but the old saying you get what you pay for sits in the back of my mind. Is that a good deal or are they just cheap ( not inexpensive) rods. Thanks
  13. Along with the rants and raves of milk and gas. I have a young Marine at work who pays around 1.50 for a gallon of freagin water. I laugh at him every morning when I fill my bottle from the fountain for free.
  14. If you do happen to find one on here, it will be a good thing that you are sitting down at the computer. In regards to those hormones, I would seriously hate for you to pass out from a sudden loss of blood to the head.
  15. Hey its not a good fantasy leauge if you can't talk smack, can we all agree on that. Nothing from me will ever get personal.
  16. Thanks for introducing me westpalmdude. All hail the champ. I will sign autographs if you want. ;D
  17. I have been fishing a pond on base. It is about an 1 1/2 to 2 acres, about 15ft at its deepest and heavily pressured due to the shear amount of Marines on base. I know there are bass in there because I have caught 2 small ones. I have been throwing t-rig plastics ( *** sticks, senkos, zoom flukes and lizards ) with and without a 1/4 oz bullett weight. I have also tried spinners, rapalas, frogs and spooks. These fish don't want to bite. I would day that maybe its a bad day, but it has been two weeks. I plan on going back out tonight. What can I do?
  18. I just started bass fishing this year, but have saltwater fished my whole life. During the offseason, I would tie king mackerel rigs, replace my line, re organize the tackle boxes, and find some killer deals on tackle. You can also take this time to look back on the year and what you did to produce fish and start making your game plans for the next.
  19. Don't take back you sarcasm. This site is starting to fill up with the over the hill crowd. SSSHHH, man don't you know they have a wealth of knowledge, well if they haven't forgotten it. :
  20. GOSH, Old people. Just kidding, happy b-day

    Hey Gang

LBH, You must come from good genetics, just wait til the good ole matabolism slows down. ;D Before I got married, I was living in the barracks at Camp Lejeune eating pizza and drinking a beer or two everynight. Once I got married it started catching up/
  22. I just finished replacing my lights on my trailer. I was looking at the LED lights, but for the price I can replace with others twice. I live on the coast so this is a yearly thing for me even with rinsing with fresh after every trip. I have had my boat since 04, and I am having to replace the leaf springs on the trailer this winter. The only thing that would make it better is to completely seal everything that deals with the lights. Then we would all cuss when a bulb blew. Once again the saying is true, the two best days of owning a boat is the day you buy, and the day you sell.
  23. Here in Jacksonville NC, the gas is about 2.71 a gallon. NC state tax on the petrol is outrageous. >
  24. I may have to check this one out depending upon date and location. I just found out that I am going on recruiting duty (USMC) and have no clue where in the US I will be next year. Maybe a good fishing trip would be good send off.
  25. I have fished two ponds in the past week. My challenge is to fish with a t-rig in pumpin color. I am getting a good feel for the bottom, and I have caught a few fish, two bass one on a zoom lizard and one on a senko. A couple of bluegills and a crappie on a zoom fluke. I just am not having the luck that I thought I would. The two bass I caught maybe equal a pound and a half to two. I have heard that senkos would just plain out catch fish, but I am not having those results. I am dragging the bait across the bottom. All of the fish I have caught have come within 3-5ft of the bank. I was really suprised that the bluegill and crappie would hit a 4/0 hook. I am getting frustrated that I can catch fish by structure, when I can see them. Any suggestions as to what I can do different. Thanks
