  1. I saw those clips on you tube a few years back. If I am not mistaken there are more turtles in the first pic than teeth in that mans mouth.
  2. A beer a day keeps the kidney stones away. Also I run 3x a week, lift x 2 and just lowered my high stress level by completing recruiting duty.
  3. There are open tournaments on High Rock lake out of the Tamarac Marina.
  4. You will not find any small mouth without at least a 4 hour drive of Raleigh, the water is too warm. Shearin Harris is a good big bass lake. Jordan lake has a good fishery for large mouth and stripers. There are some smaller water sheds such as lake wheeler and other county ran lakes. Many choices.
  5. My vote is for Big Al. A few years ago I would have been in the argument for Dan Snyder, but it seems that even he realized how much he was screwing up the organization and he has taken a step back. ( at least as far as the public is concerned.)
  6. Thanks for the advice, I am at work now so I can't see the picture Wayne P so I will look when I get home. Nitro, The area we are staying in is relatively deep and not much cover around that I know of. It goes from the bank to 25 fow within 50 yards. The center of the cove goes out to 40 feet and then in Nutbush by the campground the water is well over 50ft deep. I may try to venture out a little bit more this year than in previous years. I have been camping there for 10 years now and haven't had too much luck with bass caught a few here and there but nothing to really speak of. We generally do well on cat fish and pan fish.
  7. Heading to Kerr for a week of vacation. Any clues as to what the fish are doing would be very helpful. Will be staying on the NC side near the dam. Kimballs point to be exact. Probably looking to fish Points on Nutbush creek and feeder creeks off of that. I have heard from others that the fishing is mighty slow up there now. I was thinking that cranks and shakey heads in 12-20 fow would be a good start. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Like I said if you didn't want to share it's 100% understandable
  9. That's what we call the big girls here in NC. Oh wait you meant the fish. Nice catch gents.
  10. Dang, nice fish. Sorry you had to cut it short. I can only imagine how the rest of the day would have went.
  11. Sounds like a great day, always good to learn. By the way what was the technique? If you didn't want to share, it's understandable . I just had to ask.
  12. Thanks guys, today was 95 with hazy skies. The water temps were 78 , I caught the fish at 4:27 pm . I wish my son would have been able to either hold the fish or snap a pick with my phone , but he is just too young. This fish was fat. The 5 # I caught a few weeks ago had a bigger mouth, but was no where near as thick I am still stoked. The pictures were crappy I was trying to weigh it get a pic and get it back in the water so it would survive. Then the ranger came around and asked for a pic of it.
  13. Always great to catch a fish on a new bait especially in tough conditions. Good job and thanks for the report.
  14. My oldest had a follow up appt for knee surgery and my wife wanted me to watch the little man today, so I thought I would take him to a local park. She drops him off about 3 and we head out. Get there and pay our $1 fee to fish. I let little man pay because it makes him feel like a big boy. Grab the rods and tackle bag and head down to pond 1. Tie on a 1/4 oz jig with a rage tail craw and begin flipping into the duck grass. We fished there for an hour without a nibble. Little man at this point has his minnow net catching turtles and frogs. He gets bored and say's "daddy, let's go to the other pond" I say ok, we pack up the truck and drive over to another pond. I switch over to a 1/8 oz spot remover and put on a june bug shakey head worm. I can see fish looking at but no takers. So I switch over to my spinning rod with 20 pound braid and 6 pound fluro leader. I see the fish looking at it, but again no takers. At that point I dig through my bag and see the thumpers in june bug. I think this is crazy because the light line, but try it anyway. I begin walking the bank and making casts. About 10 min later I pitch it out and look down and see a huge shadow swimming by. I reel up quick and pitch it about 10 ft in front of where I think he will be. It hits bottom I hop it one time and the line swims off. I had my drag set really loose because of the light tackle and the fish is pulling drag like crazy. It took all of about 2 min to get him in and I am not exaggerating I was playing him out because I was worried about breaking him off. I get him up and put him on the scale. 6 pounds 2 oz. beats my old record by a pound and an oz. I was stoked, this year has been great so far. Not so many fish, but they have been quality. I have caught this fish, 2 fives, a few fours and so forth. I love the rage tail thumper now and have confidence in that brand now that I have caught some quality fish. I think the best part is the fact that this is public waters and I am able to catch fish like this. I know the pic doesn't do it justice and some may not think its a 6 pound fish, but I swear it is. I am supposed to get some better pics from the park ranger who took a few pics for their wall. When I do I will post it.
  15. That's sick , some very nice bass. I hope to catch some like that this year
  16. Honestly my go to bait has been a brush hog, I am happy about that because it's been my first year catching on them and they have really become a confidence bait. I tied my pb of 5.3 on them. Now on to conquering rage tails.
  17. I am not sure that there is anything to do about it. The people who do this are doing the best they can for their families. I can't fault them for that If you tax the food heavily, these people may not eat at all.
  18. Thanks for the advice, I have tried this in the past with little success. I just don't want to throw out a couple hundred worth of crank baits. My son decided to play with them and not tell anyone they got wet and then he hid them in the garage.
  19. I found a few boxes of cranks, they are discolored and some may be beyond saving. That being said what can I use to help clean / restore some of the better ones? Or is it better to just try and repaint?
  20. My son is also type 1 found that out when he was 12. We used to take him out to eat like once a week or more often. The hardest part for him and us, was getting him to realize that his eating habits couldn't be the same. He still has his moments when he wants to go out with friends and gorge himself. Luckily he has only been in the hospital once and that was the initial onset. Diabetes is more prevelant now than it was 5 to 10 years ago. So are a lot of other illnesses and I really agree with J Franco. It's sad that I have to buy a book to get the nutritional content from and it would be nice if these chains listed all of the info upfront, but I don't have to take my family out to eat it is something that we choose to do and by doing so how can I complain about a chain.
  21. I agree with some of the other posters, it's easier to place the blame elsewhere as it is to take responsibility for your own actions. The only other observation that I would like to add to this though is the fact that it is sad that some families eat fast food 7 days a week because a $1 cheeseburger and coke is cheaper to them than going grocery shopping. I see this a lot with the lower income house holds. That dollar value menu is where it's at
  22. Thanks I guess I will be heading to BPS today, I didn't know they made prop covers.
  23. That's a good way to enjoy a day out of school what are the water temps at up in PA now?
  24. Wow you never cease to amaze me with your catches. I guess I need to get on the rage tail baits a little more seriously.
  25. Wow that's awesome, I hope my daughter is still into fishing when she gets older. You are a lucky man, and she is a lucky daughter.
