  1. Wade in it and cover alot of area finding productive spots. Look for bigger rocks, weeds, and timber in the water. Fish deep holes slowly and you will catch bigger fish.
  2. Spinnerbaits. I like 1 colorado blade the best.
  3. Only thing I would change is I'd leave the end of the hook all the way in the worm or you will get weeds on it. The hook looks fine for the job.
  4. I've used both and I prefer the spiderwire stealth. Power pro seems to fade and get broken down plus stealth is slightly cheaper.
  5. now I got more time to make a better reply. Senkos do work good or better for smallies as more popular baits like grubs and tubes in the right places the problem is grubs are rarely not a good choice to use senkos aren't a very good bait lots of times. Grubs are much more versitile though and work good in just about every situation senkos don't. In deep water senkos don't perform as good because I believe adding weight to them kills the action and a weightless one takes forever to reach deep fish. In heavy current senkos also aren't as good as other baits slow falling senkos catch fish the current pushes them around to much to sink right. If you are fishing calm, and shallow water say under 10 feet senkos do work good at least they do for me.
  6. I'd say its a pretty nice smallie. Not huge but better than average.
  7. Didn't mean for my post to have attitude. I'm just pointing out that smallies will hit senkos just like largemouths if your not catching them you doing something different then me.
  8. We all have methods that work for us. Back reeling works very good for me I prefer to have all the control over the fish. With the drag being pulled out the fish has some control. If a fish pulls hard I can backreel in time because once I hook a big fish I flip the switch right away if I need it or not even on hard diving smallies which are faster and stronger than equal bigmouths I can backreel in time. It just takes practice. Like I said everybody has methods that works. I'm just sharing mine.RoLo my name does mean wisconsin smallie.
  9. Senkos and there knockoffs work great for smallies anybody who says different is doing something wrong. I prefer texas rigged with little or no weight.
  10. Congrats. For smallies I like grubs, senkos and knockoffs, and plastic works zoom trick worms being some of the best other types of worms with ribbon or curly tails also work, spinnerbaits are good, crankbaits of all types also work good. Don't forget live bait either if you want to catch lots of fish.
  11. First I'd suggest some heavier line then I would forget the advice about the drag. Tighten the drag down and learn how to back reel.
  12. Hard to beat a floating rapala twitched on the surface.
  13. Black or brown would be my choice.
  14. 1.I use a trilene knot 2.I never use a trailor or trailor hook 3.I don't think color is very important its a reaction strike with a spinnerbait.
