  1. Hey guys Been a while, has anyone returned any older glxs lately. I have a mbr844c that has a broken guide and was wondering what would be my best option.
  2. Hey guys heading down there for a week anf was looking for some help on what techniques might be working there now. I dont want to bring anything I dont need. I guess were in Salem if that helps any?
  3. You don't need a swimbait rod for those!!! Any mh/h power, f/xf action will do. I would get a longer rod 7' or above
  4. Any you guys ever replace the seats in one of these? I wanted to add a 6"pedestal to raise the seats up. Well the holes or whatever is under the seat that accepted the original lag bolts is junk and wont hold the new bolts. I even threw some epoxy in the holes. Do any of you know whats under there? Wood? Should I just move the seats over a bit to try and grab some new wood? Any help or advise is appreciated Thanks
  5. X2 I have a 1000fh and tried 6lb trilene flouro and it was a nightmare!!!!
  6. Not excited at all!! Not sure what or who they are targeting here it basically just has a carbon swept handle. It doesn't even have a true "R" rotor like the older TD-Zs?? This should definitely be weighing in at about the 6oz area. I don't know why they just don't remake the TD-Zs again if they are so sought after??
  7. NO a nice shape 50mg will go about $175-$200 nowadays and the 09 STXs can be had for about $125
  8. Also Lets not forget the FREE Wiley-X sunglasses that come with the purchase of a Premier!!!
  9. You know I've read this tip before years ago and still have not got around to doing it. I just stripped off about 50yrds of of 2 of my reels and this woulda saved me a bunch of line and headache!!!!!
  10. You don't have to do anything to a Citica its good right out the box!!!!!! Some people complain or suggest to break it down and remove the factory grease to free it up some, but just use it and it will break in just fine
  11. Yeah I bet they do too. Shimano Japan just recently released the Scorpion 1000xt which is built on the core 50mg frame, but aluminum instead of Mg and weighs in at 6.7oz I think and cost about $250.
  12. Are there any more? You should go and clean them out!!!!!!!!!!
  13. you never installed them? would taking them out equal less braking than if they were installed and in the 'off' position? I would have to assume so. Even though they are not engaged they do still add weight to the spool which will slow it down some.
  14. Heres my take. I love Shimanos I think they are the easiest most forgiving baitcasters to use and solid as a rock!! That being said I got rid of my Curado 200d cause its quite large and heavy. I did have an STX once and did like it alot but as most will tell you they are very finicky to dial in just right and I had much more overruns with that than any other reel I have ever used, but when you did dial it in its performance was second to none!! I would suggest if you can find another Fuego for about the same price to just get that as you already have one and are happy with it. Otherwise I might look for a newer Curado E series or even the Citica E as both are much smaller than the previous D series. If you have your heart set on a D get the 100d either curado or citica, much smaller profile and lighter
  15. Thats just the "trademark" Shimano backplay all shimanos have it you just have to deal with it
  16. They would, but I'm sure you had the same conversation with Dan that I did. It would be a big seller (I know I would buy at least three more sets). The official response is that the larger knobs are used to set the Curado apart from their other reels. Thats the most ridiculous thing I have heard from a manufacturer!!!!! If there is a demand for the bigger knobs just sell them alone and everyone wins!!! Do you think people actually buy the Curado over the Citica or Chronarch or Core or any other model solely on it has larger knobs that "set it apart" from the others????
  17. Slender pointer in Pearl Ayu 97 112 or 127
  18. Well that explains the 4 or 5 NIB I have seen for sale for $150- $160ish
  19. We have some nice smallmouth ponds here in MA but most are still locked up with ice. What types of baits should I be using right after ice-out? Also where should I be concentrating deep or shallow
  20. On spinning I would suggest 20lb. On casting gear at least 30 if not 50lb. The higher lb on casting gear will help with dig-ins and ease of picking out any birds-nests. You cant go wrong with Power pro or Sufix.
  21. Braid!!! 20-30lb should be suficient for all your needs. If you need some stealth ( for clear water) just tie on some leader material. You will never have to "respool" braid like Mono or flouro. Theres no memory to deal with and its strength to diam ratio is unmatched.
  22. Its all good!! Just in fun is all. Obviously your excited about getting a new reel and wanted info and that's what were here for. You have to have thick skin around here. Like I said if I had posted in your thread about getting a Shimano instead I would have been hammered so I didn't post anything. Good luck with your purchase, the Carbonlite looks promising!! I will check it out as well next week to see what all the fuss is about as well as the rods
  23. Lol Thats what the intention was Snoop I dont care if he has ten threads just having a little fun. I could have just suggested he buy a low end Shimano or Daiwa or Abu and I would have got attacked for that as well (which is what I think he should do BTW). Its all good fellas I can take it.
