  1. That's why I am steering clear of her until about Monday. You know what they say, "If Momma ain't happy, noone's happy."
  2. She's a keeper... so's the bass.
  3. The UPS driver in my neighborhood has agreed to put any package coming from Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, Performance Bike Shop, or Colorado Cyclist on the back porch hidden beside the chimney. He's a very understanding guy.
  4. Seems like just the opposite would happen. If you keep the gullible ones and take them out of the gene pool, you are left with bass that are warier and harder to catch to pass on their genes. I am a strictly Catch, Photograph, and Release fisherman.
  5. You could get the Tony Stewart model. It sinks itself then blames all the other boats.
  6. We've been having a problem down here in Florida with sturgeon jumping out of the water and hitting boaters. I can't imagine the mayhem if that big boy tried it.
  7. Especially coupled with that Auburn win.
  8. I'm down in Tampa with my sports fanatic brother-in-law. He looked at me very seriously a little while ago and confided that he thinks Kentucky can beat Florida at Lexington.
  9. Catt, Catt, Catt... You can't make a proper mint julep with that inferior Tennessee whiskey. : It has to bourbon. Marse Henry Watterson had the only really good recipe for a mint julep, "Pluck the mint gently from its bed, just as the dew of the evening is about to form upon it. Select the choicer sprigs only, but do not rinse them. Prepare the simple syrup and measure out a half-tumbler of whiskey. Pour the whiskey into a well-frosted silver cup, throw the other ingredients away and drink the whiskey."
  10. My father liked his steaks really rare. I took him to a steak house in Louisville, Kunz's the Dutchman, one time. When the waiter asked Dad how he wanted his steak cooked Dad responded, "You just lead it in here. I'll knock it in the head."
  11. Live it up while you can, Puddin'. :'( I think you will find the Gamecocks a little tougher than Florida Atlantic. Then there's LSU and Florida. Even though my poor Louisville Cardinals are stinking up the joint this year, I have been enjoying my son-in-law's enthusiasm for his alma mater, the University of South Florida. This is the first time they have ever been ranked.
  12. Man, I thought I was the only bass fisherman that also liked to ride. My rejection of all things Shimano extends to my cycling. Campagnolo rules.
  13. Oh, sorry bout this weekend.
  14. I just started fishing it since I have gotten a boat big enough. It reminds me of the fishing I knew back in Kentucky as a young man. Talquin is better known as a crappie (locally known as speckled perch or specks) lake, but the bass fishing is awfully good.
  15. I allowed the transducer cable on my Lowrance depth finder to get caught in the trolling motor bracket. Dumb! It cut through the outer cover and through most of the cable. Is it difficult to repair. If I am not mistaken, it is a small coaxial cable. I know nothing at all about electronics and, before spending money for a new transducer or new depth finder, I would like to try to repair this one.
  16. I caught four others, but they were all little bitty guys. I never did find any concentration of fish.
  17. Sure don't. I was trying to use a new camera setup and it really stunk.
  18. I love Newcastle. It is what got me interested in really malty beers.
  19. Less than three feet.
  20. The best laid plans of mice and fishermen.... I got on Lake Talquin an hour before daylight thinking that, with the full moon, I might pick up a topwater fish or two. Didn't happen. Plan B was to fish the river channel where it came close to a point. Too windy. Plan C was to fish the docks. Again, too windy. I finally went back up to the end of a creek and started working my way out with a Senko. I was protected from the wind and was able to fish. This big girl thought the Senko looked pretty good" She went 7 pounds, six ounces.
  21. I haven't seen it yet, but if it is anywhere near the quality of other Daiwa casting reels, it will be a dandy. I just replaced a couple of old reels with 2 Daiwa Magforce PR100H reels. I do believe they are as slick as my Revo at half the cost.
  22. Show off
  23. If I had caught that fish I'd be grinnin' like a mule eatin' briars.
  24. Sure can. I pulled the boat from Kentucky to Florida a couple of months ago and had no problems. When I got into the hills around Nashville and Birmingham I did have a couple of occasions to turn off the overdrive, but 65-70 mph was no problem most of the time.
  25. A buddy of mine flips with the larger version, the Ugly Otter. I ordered some earlier this week.
