  1. I'd bet on it.
  2. Does anyone else get tickled at guys wearing tournament shirts advertising the brand of boat they are running when they are not sponsored by the boat company? I have a neighbor who wears his expensive Ranger tournament shirts every time he goes fishing, but he receives nothing from Ranger for the free advertising. Maybe I ought to get a Bass Tracker tournament shirt. :
  3. If they start messing with Amber Bock I may have to whup some Belgian butt.
  4. I use a 5.2:1 reel for deep cranking and large spinnerbaits for the same reason I use low gear on my bicycle for going up hills. I can get up the hill with the higher gear, but it won't be fun. I can run a DD22 with a 6.3:1 but it is an unpleasant experience and will wear the reel out quickly.
  5. Uh Micro I believe that is a hand??? LOL Tell that boy he'll go blind if he keeps doing that!
  6. I went ahead and replaced the base. I'm set to go now.
  7. If my belly was that flat I'd have my picture taken without my shirt on. :-/
  8. I suspect that the holes are for oar locks, not rod holders.
  9. The original pedestal is still a snug fit, so I don't think that is the problem.
  10. The outboard on my 24 year old Bass Tracker bit the dust. The boat is still in great shape so I went shopping for a new motor. The best deal I could find here in town was $4,895 for a two stroke 50 hp Mercury, using the old controls, plus about $200 for installation. A dealer about 50 miles away told me he would sell me a new 2006 50 hp Mercury four stroke for $4,950, installed, and with new Mercury controls. The local dealers all told me that when I got there the guy would reneg on the deal and there was no way he could sell it at that price. I took the boat to the dealer to have him install the motor and told him what the other dealers had told me. He insisted that he would sell it to me for what he quoted. Several days later I got a call from him, "You know I told you I would sell you that four stroke for $4,950. I made you that offer because I had three of them in stock and needed to move them. Turns out I don't have one. I'll still honor the price, but it will be a 2008 and it will take a couple of weeks to get it. "I will make you an offer, though. I'll sell you a new two stroke 50hp Mercury for $3,950, installed, and with new Mercury controls." I could have held him to his offer on the four stroke, but the two stroke motor will last longer than the boat will, so I opted for the two stroke. SWMBO was tickled that I spent $1,000 less than she was planning on. I'm tickled to have power trim and tilt now.
  11. Congrats to you and the missus. Is this your first?
  12. If you are fishing deep running crankbaits go for the 5.1:1. Trying to crank a wobbling crankbait with a 7:1 reel will be no fun at all. I use a Pflueger Trion 5.2:1 reel for deep cranking and couldn't bee happier.
  13. As much as I hate Digger the Gopher and the Crank It Up gimmick, I much prefer Fox's NASCAR coverage. Those ol' boys act like they are enjoying what they are doing. The guys on TNT are about as animated and interesting as an accountant doing someone's taxes. Hey Jeremy: Boogity, boogity, boogity!!! ;D
  14. Bass Pro Shops sells a CMC PT-35 Tilt and Trim. It will work on 35 hp and smaller, so it wouldn't work if you go to a 40 hp.
  15. I'm kinda curious about them and how well they do. You don't want one in Kentucky. I had one in my house in Louisville and my winter electric bills were higher than my mortgage. Plus, we were still cold all the time. Here in North Florida they work just fine.
  16. From shallow to deep: SPRO Aruku Shad, SPRO Little John, Strike King Pro Crank, Norman DD14, and Norman DD22.
  17. I bought a Swivl-Eze pedestal for my old Bass Tracker. The pedestal does not fit snugly and wobbles in the base. Has anyone else had a problem with this? Is there any cure? The original pedestal doesn't wobble, but I wanted a stand-up seat.
  18. I drink too much coffee to do anything like that.
  19. I'm rooting for it to swing well north of Florida. When they activate the state Emergency Operations Center I have to be there.
  20. I have never used the color one, but the B&W one I have is great.
  21. You can't do better than the Lowrance H2O.
  22. That's too darned funny!! I spent about 20 years working in retail and every time I would get to feeling sorry for myself I could always say, "Well, at least it's not food service."
  23. Dual Pro: I bought a rebuilt one directly from Dual Pro last year at a considerable savings over retail. It is one of the best things I have ever done to make fishing more enjoyable.
  24. Same thing with the Pflueger shirt. It's huge. Even my wife couldn't shrink it up to a comfortable size.
  25. $60 shipped to you.
