  1. Well, it is rated for 10-17. I will use 10 or 12, but was wondering about a brand of line.
  2. Guys, I have a 6'6" M/F casting rod that I use for light jigs and worms, and wanted opinions on a tough mono line in the 10-12 lb range.
  3. I guess the title says it all. I am looking for a general purpose medium rod. Light jigs, texas rigs, etc. Anyone have one to recommend?
  4. I see your point for sure, but as I improve, what kind of distance can I expect? Can most experienced guys pitch 30 feet? 40? I am just curious...
  5. I am just starting to work on the technique of pitching, and I am wondering what distance is a good one to be capable of? Right now, 25 feet is what I practice at, and can reliably keep the practice plug close to the ground and place it softly in a container.
  6. I handled one of these at the store and liked the feel a lot. Someone mentioned that Abu tends to rate their rod power a little conservatively. Being that I am on a budget, would a 7' or 7'3" MHF be a functional pitching/flipping option?
  7. Any of you guys and gals do any squirrel hunting? What is your preferred method?
  8. I was thinking of buying a pitching rod, but I am a little confused on what to look for. I have seen "pitching" rods in everything from moderate fast to extra fast action. Which is the preferred type?
  9. Gorgeous fish!
  10. Thanks to all for the opinions! I'll go look at some tomorrow.
  11. I am sure this is done to death, but perhaps you all will indulge me? I am looking for a low profile, left hand retrieve, general duty casting reel with a budget of 180.00. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  12. I guess the title says it all. Is it just a preference?
  13. I am thinking that casting jigs, Texas rigged worms, and spinnerbaits would be my favorites.
  14. What are your opinions on choices for a versatile casting rod in the $125.00 range? This would be for most techniques, excluding crankbaits....
  15. Fellas, aside from my spinning outfit that I use for light/finesse applications, I'd like to make a 3 rod setup to cover as many options as possible. What are your recommendations to make 3 different casting rods/reels the most versatile?
  16. Thats just the "trademark" Shimano backplay all shimanos have it you just have to deal with it LOL
  17. Who makes an affordable tackle bag, with room to hold a respectable amount of stuff? I have seen some bags for around 100.00, and I just don't want to spend that kind of cash....
  18. I second this- I just bought a 6'9" MHXF. It is light as a feather and balances like no rod I've ever owned. I'd like a couple more at the 79.99 I paid...
  19. Anyone fish one of these? I never have, but picked one up to try it...
  20. 1/2 ounce Cotton Cordell- cuz I bought them for 0.95 cents a piece during a BPS sale....
  21. I do not mind spending the money to get to where I want to be . Shoot, in a moment of madness I even looked closer at the Core. Bad,bad, dream. I just bought a Core- and I am ecstatic! I am an average caster, and it makes me better than I really am. It is like a really sweet trigger on a centerfire rifle- it makes everyone a better shot....
  22. Sounds like sage advice- if the ice would go away, I'd get started...
  23. Well, I guess it is more of a lack of patience than a lack of dexterity. Which reel manufacturers are known to overlube? I bought a Core, and I want to get the most out of it...
