  1. i'd go w/ the viento, cuz i dont know how well constructed BPS reels are, and i dont know how long they will last. usualy store brand stuff isnt as great. i mean, which would you buy? Food Lion-O's or Cheerio's? no brainer eh? plus the twitchin bar just kicks major ***. its perfect if you fish plastics alot. daiwa is know for making nice reels.
  2. i have an okuma stratus and i love it. never had a single problem w/ it. it was $50 at dicks.
  3. for crankbaits and spinnerbaits, i would reccoment 6.3:1. for topwaters, it doesnt really matter, because most of the time you are just reeling in slack, not reeling in the lure.
  4. yea i was directing it at the name reelmagic lol ;D that sucks if it doesnt come w/ oil.
  5. o trust me guys, i respect reelmech. ive got nothing against him. im just asking him some questions about my....."lubricating adventures" ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ooooh jeez...anyway, yea im just trying to find out what will work and what wont. do you guys know if my citica will come w/ a botttle of reel oil in the box? that will be cool if it does.
  6. How much is worth your reel ? How much is worth a reel cover ? If I sold you my 12 year old first Curado you could swear it 's a brand new out of the box reel, all my reels look like new, even the box and paperwork are like new. thats true : i'll look at my local dicks sporting goods to see if they have any reel covers. if not i'll use a sock:)
  7. o....well i replaced it before this got any responses and i just unscrewd the hook hanger, took the cup off, opened the hook hanger (more difficult to do than i thought :) and just slid a new hook on and re assembled it. oh well : if it comes out i wont mind it because the lip got all mangled up (just found that out today) in the incident too...so i wont mind getting a new jitterbug.
  8. a few weeks ago, when i was loading up my jon boat in the truck, my jitterbug was hanging over the edge of the boat when i pushed it into the bed of the truck. well when i got home i saw that the hook that whey weld onto the double hook to make it a trebel just split clean off, all the way up the weld. since jitterbugs dont have split rings, they have screw eyes w/ those cups around them...how do i replace the trebel?
  9. hey speaking of that, is it worth it buying a reel cover to put over my new baitcaster?
  10. so my new citica is gonna come w/ a small bottle of oil? thats good. and i figured "REELmagic" would be suitable for REELS. but guess not :
  11. yay! now im super excited and cant wait to fish with it!!!!!
  12. jeez man youre tough to crack! ;D so is the only stuff you reccoment the stuff you sell on your site? well i guess if i ever need to lube my new Citica, i'll buy some of your stuff and put that in there.
  13. just ordered my citica 200D from delo's a few minutes ago for $100 w/ free shipping :) cant wait for it to get here....im hoping for it to get here about mid week next week...anyone know how fast their service is?
  14. hey reelmech, is reel magic okay to use on my reels?
  15. my rooster tails wont spin either. what you have to do is: go to the store and forget about rooster tails, buy some BLUE FOX!!!!!!!! my fav. blue fox is the vibrax minnow spin, but the vibrax flash i think its called arent bad either. when you said hwo to tie a new skirt on a spinnerbait, im assuming you mean the rooster tail kind (called inline spinners) since you said "tie" and the skirts on those are hair (or in the roostertail case, rooster tail feathers.) that is tied on to cover the hooks. its very simple, but you need the right equipment. get a fly tying kit, then it will be MUCH easier.
  16. when you say "stickbait" do you mean a soft plastic like senkos, or a hard bait like a rapala original floater? if its soft plastic, go w/ june bug, natural shad, or green pumpkin/watermelon seed. if its a hard bait go w/ a rapala original floater and get it in minnow, silver/black back, or bleeding pearl. but like others have said, its more about presentation than it is color.
  17. thats the hook that i use. i do wacky rigging quite often. its very simple. just hook it right thru the middle, then cast it near visible structure (liles, trees, stumps....) and just let it fall. on the way down just give it the tiniest twitches. if you dont get hit on the way down, let the lure sit on the bottom and jiggle it around on the bottom. if still no hits, then jerk it all the way back to the top, and repeat, till you cach a fish, or your retrieve is over. most people use senkos or look alikes for wacky rigging but i suppose you could use whatever you wanted, ive heard of people wacky rigging flukes. good luck!
  18. niiiiiiice! i'll be getting a "new toy" here soon (shimano citica 200d).
  19. are they easy to get hookups? cuz i know that the frogs have a horrible hookup ratio.
  20. i'd definitley sell the rods. i just sold a fly reel so i could afford a baitcaster. but anyway, thats beyond the point. if you dont like them, sell them and use the money to get something you DO like. but im not sure if i'd get a MH, i'd get a M, but thats just me.
  21. ive got an okuma spinning reel, never let me down. but im getting a shimano citica soon so im gonna try that out before i vote for anything.
  22. saw the thread about the jig and that reminded me about their mice. anyone used them? how well do they work?
  23. i HATE their frogs, but the jigs look like a no fail system!
  24. most times i'll do a trilene knot cuz i can tie it fast, good, and mainly cuz theyre easy. but if in fishing in heavy cover w/ a worm hook or somehting small like that i'll use palomar. for big lures i use trilene cuz palomar uses too much line to cover long lures.
  25. ok guys i think this is the one...i think im gonna get it. i really have fallen in love w/ baitcasters. they are so much nicer than spinning reels. i cant say they are EASIER, but i will say they arent bad at all once you learn them right. my daiwa is squeaking now, and its a procaster, and it has a metal plate under the level wind that say daiwa, and whenever im fishing it always reflects the sun RIGHT INTO MY EYES!!!! so thats got to go.
