  1. yeah my dad was uneasy about ordering them for me online cuz he thought i was rushing into it, and i kept trying to tell him "these rods wont be here tomorrow" lol looks like i was right!
  2. ahhhhh my dream reel
  3. tell me about it! yesterday i snatched up an AC66MM crankbait rod and an AC70MF plastics rod both for 96 bucks now they are 160!!! glad i decided to order last night!
  4. haha i know! just seein if its a good choice.
  5. yea i just ordered a 6'6" M power M action st croix avid crankbait series rod from reeds. its a christmas gift from my parents.
  6. avid 7ft M power F action. you guys basically know what i need (all around rod for single hook baits jigs and worms) is this a good choice? should i get it while its on sale?
  7. wow! i should probably go w/ an avid shouldnt i? how's the 7' MF? i think i want a crankbait one for xmas
  8. thats a good rod. i was considering that one. its a little too much though.
  9. What is the best crankbait rod i can get for around 100. i can go lower but dont want to go much higher.
  10. well i guess there is one way i make enough money for a supply of lures and if i save it all i can buy some rods/reels. i sell flies. i got a fly tying kit and a bunch of materials a year and a couple months ago and ive become excellent at tying flies. i dont even fly fish though, so i sell the flies. i usually get people that look thru my photobucket "flies ive tied" album and like something and they ask to order some. think i'll put that link in my sig here, cuz i make alot of bass flies that you dont need to be able to fly fish to use. but anyway yeah, that gets me some bucks. nothing major tho (usually...)
  11. my powerpro chips the blades on fingernail clippers :-?
  12. i use a single edged razor blade...sharper than the trapezoid shaped ones used for cutting cardboard. have been using the same razor for months and is pretty dull now but still cuts it no prob.
  13. haha true. im just trying to see the options and what works best. i think i'll look into the falcon rod some more b/c i do throw stick baits ALOT. how does it handle small jigs and stuff (below 1/2oz.)? anyone know where i can get a little more info about the falcon weightless plastic rod than the one sentence thats on their website?
  14. use a shad swimbait instead of the trout. take a look at the hud's shad swimbaits. shad are everywhere.
  15. SWEET! i like the spare change one. sadly i have no ideas of my own.
  16. :-?
  17. For every problem there is a solution if you only bother think to find a solution or ask for a solution to the problem. Use a toothpick Rig your worm, insert a toothpick into the bait, in through the hook eye all the way to the other side and clip away the excess wood, the bait won 't slide. In my case mother nature has been generous and has supplied us southern fishermen with all kinds of thorny plants so we actually don 't have to worry much about not carrying toothpicks, they are there, all you need is to harvest a few . I prefer huizache thorns over toothpicks. ;D wow thats a very good idea! im usually pretty innovative but i dont think i would have thought about that. still seems like too much of hassle though, when i can use ewg's with yum dingers instead of yamamotos.
  18. yeah now that i think of it a friend reccomended me use a wide gap bass fly hook (for fly tying) for gycb senkos cuz they are very fragile. i did but i found it annoying tht the worm slid down often. i stick w/ my EWG's
  19. i figured one of the pins was deformed. thats good that you've located the problem. i would send it back, get a new one, and if the new one sucks too, then send it back and get a different reel. ive got an old ambassaduer 5500C and it only has two brake weights...i thought that was weird. i've never seen a ree with only two weights
  20. the tiwtchin bar does take in up to 20" of line. if you press it gently then it will only take up a few inches of line. but if you press it hard and fast then it can take in upto 20. my friend has one of these reels adn i spend like an hour playing with it ;D but it all depends on how quickly/hard you press the bar as to how much line it takes in.
  21. dude ive looked everywhere for an avid. ive called every tackleshop i know of but nobody carries them. ive been to dicks several times and all they had were triumphs and premiers. it sucks...
  22. well i wasnt really looking for suggestions to start, i had kinda narrowed it down to those two rods in the start, and just wanted to see if anyone had used them and liked them.
  23. aww did i really? i knew that...i must have just not been typing right. what i meant to say was so the line comes out the back end.
  24. ok thanks for all the input guys. i appriciate it. crestliner, that it the reason these particular no-knot clips caught my eye, cuz they werent big and bulky like the speed clips. but i'll see wat they have at the store and pick up a pack.
