  1. great day! its about time you got some waders...nuff of them muck boots thats a cool looking lure btw....never seen one. have a link to where i could see em?
  2. first time-not bad but im gonna be fully honest with you, im not tryin to be a jerk, but those look pretty rough. here are a few tips that might help them look a little better: 1.) they look pretty rough around the edges. make sure you use sharp scissors or a sharp hobby knife to cut out the foil. 2.) this one might also help the rough edges. use a sharpie marker or other smooth blunt object to "burnish" the image youre putting on the bait. do it gentle but firm. i think this is actually a step in the totorial i showed you. it helps! 3.) did you paint the back and belly? looking at the first pic it kinda looks like you didnt paint the back. im sure the fish won't mind (they might :-?) but it will make your bait look alot better if you can get a good transition between foil and paint on the back and belly. 4.) is there epoxy over them? i think i see some epoxy but it kinda doesnt look like it. epoxy is ESSENTIAL!!! it will water proof your bait, make it more durable, and it will actually smooth out the finish on the bait. once again, i hope you dont take that too hard, im only tryin to help. they really dont look bad for a first time, just a little rough around the edges. keep at it! they will only get better! -Dave
  3. what are the lure weight reccomendations for the rod? the reel will handle em no prob. and the rod seems like it would, as long as the lures are within the weight reccomendation.
  4. im gonna apply at my local park this summer. sure it probably wont be very fun, i'll probably be picking up trash all day, but i get to ride around in a Gator! at least i'll be able to be outdoors and see what people are catching (thers a lake at the park). if anything, its better than standing behind a cash register
  5. i still cant figure that out :-? :-[ i was watching a show (cant remember it, wish i could! ) and it said that the reason they stick those tags on there is to cover up holes and other blemishes on the mattress that come from shipping and handling. it said if you rip them off once you buy the mattress "a swat team won't come swooping down on you" but you will probably find a tear on the mattress. really wish i could remember what show i saw that on. probably something on discoverey channel.
  6. shimano citica $120 on st. croix avid $170 total of $290.
  7. yeah braid is the better option. *on my post above i meant to put "it doesnt float", instead of "it doesnt sink". i edited the post.*
  8. lazy ike
  9. heres a pretty dumb one i found on a piece of constrution equipment:
  10. i would use braid! its got no memory (so it handles well), its super sensitive (for those light bites), it doesnt float (not sure the advantage of this...), and its got zero stretch (for those rock solid hook sets)! braid is the only line i go with when im fishing soft plastics.
  11. anything with the name "RAPALA" on it also, a 4 or 5 inch soft stick bait (ususally YUM dingers, but this year im gonna test out my new order of ***).
  12. i sure as hell wouldnt use bleach! bleach is strong stuff and there is a good chance it will just dissolve the fins right away. if you gotta dye the fins then i'd look into a white bait dye, does Spike-It! have a white dye?
  13. dude its totally up to you. without any kind of explanation of your fishing style or lakes or anything we really cant help. but i voted cranks cuz i love me some rapalas
  14. dont need to man! if you are serious, a dink is a small bass, ususally below the minimum size limit to keep it. if you are kidding then:
  15. RAPALA DT FAT 03!!!!! it weighs 1/2oz and dives to 3 feet. square bill makes it great for cover. this is one of my go to shallow cranks. they are very castable too; i can cast it a good 80+ feet on a 6'6" medium power medium action rod.
  16. hey guys thanks for the help and the links. i will read them later.
  17. hey, i didnt want to hijack the recent thread, but it made me wonder... how can you tell the difference between northern and florida strain bass? me being in maryland im pretty sure all of my bass are northern, but i'd still like to know how to tell the difference. thanks
  18. ok guys. thanks for the tip. next time out i will turn off Fish ID. i have a cheapie eagle 68, and i didnt find the manual very helpful at all. it mainly went over how to operate it (buttons, menus, etc). didnt go into much detail on how to read it, besides that harder objects will have that grayline thing on them. really hope someone else can answer these questions because they are just boggling me
  19. hey guys, i really need your help on this one. i recently started using a fish finder, and i think i like it, but i think im not getting the most out of it. first question: this one time, when i had the fish ID symbol turned on, there were lots of fish, but when i turned off the fish ID symbol (to switch it to fish arcs) there was nothing. whats the deal with this? another thing i dont quite understand is how the dang thing works. lets say i am sitting perfectly still, not drifting one bit, and im over a sunken tree or a log or a fish or soemthing. what will this look like on the screen? earlier today we were drifting but not very fast at all, and there would be a stump on the ground and it would show up and then be gone, but we hadnt moved. whats up with that? how come the stationary stuff (trees, stumps, rocks) disappears when neither the cover or me is moving? thanks for your help guys...im a total noob at fish finders.
  20. OMFG! holy freaking crap dude! what an amazing series of trips! i would be on cloud nine if i had a week like that! ;D (and what ever you do, DONT enter that 10-10 in the state vs state, i like being in second place )
  21. i love wake baits. whenever the bass are up shallow and around cover i will just throw these and crank em right into the cover. deadly!
  22. thats great man! new PB's are the BEST!
