hyrdilla and millfoil are what i would call "structured vegetation". if your lure is rigged properly, it will come thru them with no problem. my t-rigged worms never catch any hydrilla/millfoil. what they do catch is that unstructured slimy snot grass. i dont even know what its called but i despise it with a passion. its very slimy and its a pale green color and no matter how weedless you rig your lure it will always stick to it and when you go to pull it off your lure its just a slimy glob and it sticks to everything. anyone know that stuff im talking about?

i've never used them, but from looking at them, it kinda seems like it would defeat the purpose of a jig head. i mean, if you have all that slack and free movement between your weight and worm, and you tried to slightly wiggle the worm, it seems like just the weight would wiggle, and your worm would be flat on the bottom. hope i didnt make that too confusing. anyone get what im sayin?

i know exactly what you're talking about because i have done just that when i fished 10" worms before. i would thread the hook thru almost half of the worm (instead of the normal 1/4" of the worm). i kinda dont like doing this for two reasons: 1: it kills the action because you have your line running thru the middle of the worm, making it less flexible. 2: its a pain in the but to rig it straight when you are doing this method.

i've got a snag proof tournament frog that i would get a few blow ups on, but the fish would ALWAYS miss. they were always like six inches away from the bait. there were very few times when they actually had the bait in their mouth. and on these times, i waited till i could feel the fish, and went to set the hook, but i could not hook the fish for the life of me. it was the crappy hooks on snag proof frogs. recently, i removed the double hook from the frog and added a large single gamakatsu hook. im hoping this will increase some hookups for me. i would like to try some spro's. i might pick one up next time im out if i see them.

i got the chatterbait kit as a gag gift last christmas. i never fished chatterbaits much. it had a few chatter frogs in the kit though. the only difference is the shape of the head right? its suposed to be wider to look like a frog? they dont float do they?

i have never used the revo, but i can tell you the citica is the bomb diggity. it casts very well, very powerful, comfortable, the brakes are very effective and dont need to be adjusted very often, its a great reel at a great price. it is a big large and heavy though.

Really, have you tried them. no sir i have not but you can tell they suck from looking at them! my guess is they would never work, and even if they did work (very small chance) they certainly are not worth 20 bucks thats for darn sure. also, there are MUCH better options, you cant argue that.

sam that is a great post. that helps a bunch. i understand what you're saying about when a crank doesnt work go to a plastic, etc. but what does it take to know that a simply will not produce? that is my problem, i can be fishing a crank and think it will work but i could go all day still thinkin it will work but it doesnt work. when is it time to call it quits on a bait and switch to another? i am pretty good at outfishing my dad though . sometimes i feel kinda bad about it ;D.

EVERYTHING! i reallllllly dont like using weights. maybe its a confidence thing, but every time i do use a weight i never catch anything, but i catch a good amount using weightless plastics.

ok. i found a weighted swimbait hook that is 5/0 or 6/0, i dont remember. its the one that came with the berkley hollow bellies. its a really huge, thick hook. its very heavy and i kinda dont wanna use it because i like fishing with as little weight as possible cuz i like a really slow fall.

those things are rediculous and definitley not worth what they cost. there are MANY more natural looking options available to tick off a bedding bass. an example would be to slip on a bullet weight and dont peg it, and then tie on a floating lizard of a floating rapala minnow or something, then when you twitch the rod, the lure goes down towards the weight (which is on the bottom) which makes it look like its eating eggs.
